The location cannot be beat. Harwich is the gateway to the Lower Cape and the town has everything one can want for their Cape retreat. The house is within 5-10 min. drive of golf, beaches, conservation lands, restaurants, bars, harbor, Nantucket ferry, Seal Tours, shopping, antiquing, hiking, fishing and so much more.
Our family has been privileged to own this fantastic property for the last 75 years. It's been passed down from generation to generation and we are so excited to be able to share this special house with more people. Our mom starting coming to this house when she was 12, she's now 78. Pete and Jill grew up spending all summer, every summer at this house. We learned to sail in the waters off Harwich, had our first jobs in Harwich, rode our bikes and mopeds up and down Long Road. Jill and Tim were married in the backyard in 2010. Jill and Tim live in Kittery, ME. Pete lives and works in Boston. Peggy lives it up on the South Shore of Massachusetts.
Jill & Tim Farrell purchased this house in 1940
This property means a lot to our family as it's been the site of many special memories including backyard weddings, baby showers, family reunions and more. The house has been the convener for our family for the last 75 years and it's comfort and welcoming nature has been a retreat for our entire family for ages. We love Harwich, it's history, it's location, it's community. We think it is the best town on the Cape, far enough 'away' but close enough for an easy drive down.
The backyard could quite possibly be the most peaceful place on the planet for us. The birds, the trees swaying in the breeze, swinging in the hammock, enjoying family and food around the teak table on the patio. The space is welcoming and so incredibly special to our family. Showering in the outdoor shower after a day at the beach is one of life's greatest pleasures. We love how the house can sleep so many people, it's allowed us to host all our loved ones together under one roof and provided for so many wonderful family memories in the house.
Convenient to Rt. 6 and Harwich Center, this was a great find. We tended to congregate in the sun room, but the back yard is spacious (with a hammock, grill, and picnic table) and the living room quaintly furnished with an old stove and couch.
This house is in a great location in Harwich! It's very close to the downtown and to the beaches on the sound, which are only about a five minute drive away. We had a great college reunion stay here - and could even bring our dog. We definitely took advantage of the outdoor space for lawn games and BBQ. The "old" portion of the home is definitely old - but since we didn't spend much time indoors it did not bother us at all. The kitchen has everything that you need, and the two indoor bathrooms and outdoor shower were perfect for all of us. We followed many of the food/activity recommendations in the binder that was left for us - and they all proved to be excellent. We would definitely rent here again!
