Looking to get away to the mountains with your family? Timber Hollow is the perfect choice for large families, or groups, traveling together!
Our custom log cabin sits on a private 65 acre buffalo ranch. Enjoy viewing our buffalo when you drive in or stop by in the morning at feeding time! This cabin is nestled in the woods & has plenty of space for families traveling together.
So, whether you are looking to hit the slopes at Cataloochee Ski Resort in Maggie Valley (only 12 miles away) or visit the Biltmore Estate in Asheville (only 30 minutes), there is plenty for everyone to do in The Great Smoky Mountains!
Timber Hollow is ideal for large families vacationing together because we have 2 master suites as well as a 2nd kitchen downstairs! You can store extra food in the downstairs fridge!
Also, rest assured the children will be well entertained downstairs in the game room where we have a pool table & ping pong. There is a foosball table in the loft. Also enjoy an evening in our 6-8 person hot tub out back!
Children will love the hike through the woods to the play area, The BC Corral! This custom designed area has everything from swings, zip line, slides, teeter totter, cargo nets, rock wall & even a horse shoe pit for the adults! The kids will love it here!
If you are looking for a quiet 'get away from it all' retreat, this is it! Enjoy long hikes on the property, fishing on the Pigeon River (within walking distance from the log cabin) or take a trip into town to do some shopping or antiquing.

My brothers & my husband had shared a vision of expanding my fathers buffalo ranch when additional property became available to purchase. With all our knowledge & experiences combine we have built 3 log homes & have been renting them out since 2004. All the furniture in this cabin has been handmade by the wood on the property! Even the covered wagon bed, that was custom built my my father. Once my husband retires from the US Army in about 8 yrs our dream will be to build our log cabin on the property & be more hands on. God has blessed us beyond our wildest dreams. We hope you love the mountains like we have all come to love being transplants from a very flat NY!
Cheryl Hillis purchased this cabin in 2008
While staying at Timber Hollow we feel you will really enjoy the peace & tranquility of being secluded on 65 acres. So many of our previous guest have wrote back & told us they had all these plans to sight see but then just loved hanging out in the cabin together enjoying the big game room & the children all love the uniquely designed playground as well as seeing the miniature horse, buffalo, goats & llamas.
Really enjoyed our stay at timber hollow, kids loved being on the bison farm, and seeing the other animals. Great family operated place. The only thing I'd recommend is 4 wheel drive, as the drive up to the house could be slick when raining/snowing.
Timber Hollow was fantastic. The home was comfortable, well appointed and had all the amenities for a home away from home in the mountains. The check-in process was easy and the staff was wonderful to work with. Cannot wait to go back!
We had a wonderful stay here as part our 2016 summer vacation. The cabin is clean, well equipped and has excellent accommodation. Cheryl and her family made us feel very welcome. The animals were fun to go and see for the adults and children and we had great family barbecues out back. We would definitely recommend this cabin and plan to visit again.
Our family had the most amazing time at Buffalo Creek! The cabin was beautiful and everything you would expect from a mountain retreat. There is so much to do you would never have to leave it. The buffalo and other animals were so much fun to see, we even got to see brand new baby buffalo calves. The kids were thrilled! The pool table, ping pong and foosball table saw a lot of use as did the hot tub and fire pit. Everything was clean and maintained very well, and there were so many homey touches to make us feel welcome , from the personal welcome message on the chalkboard to the gift basket made up with "s'more fixins'. I love that the retreat is in a noncommercial area of the mountains. It makes for a very peaceful, regenerative escape. I have told many friends about the place and we plan to return as soon as possible.
Our family had such an amazing time staying at timber hollow!! The home was beautiful and secluded enough that we felt we were the only ones there! Our children (and adults too!) loved seeing all the animals and watching the buffalos feed each morning. The playground and hiking trails made it perfect. If anyone was "bored" in the house there was plenty to do on the property. The location was also great for catalochee, hiking and Asheville!!!!
We rented Timber Hollow for my son's wedding. The cabin was absolutely beautiful. We had to accommodate an extra family that normally does not travel with us and the downstairs area worked out very well. Cheryl was awesome with anything we needed. We had beautiful weather for a beautiful occasion and this cabin will accommodate families from the elderly to the young. Thank you for a fun stay!!!!
Enjoy watching the bison get fed in the morning..
