Wonderful house and hosts would stay here again!
This was a beautiful house, even better in person! Comfortably fit our family of 9. Both Tammy and Lia were very accommodating and responsive.
During our stay we enjoyed cooking family dinners in the kitchen, sitting out on the deck and watching whales and during the thunderstorms in early February we enjoyed sitting in the super large hot tub/pool with a great view. Its the largest hot tub I have ever seen! Nothing like being in the rain, looking out on a beautiful view and being in a warm relaxing hot tub. Beds were comfortable, plenty of towels provided and it was so nice to have two dishwashers, two washers and two dryers. The walk to queens bath is literaly so close, you can walk right outside the door to it. The cul de sac of the houses location was quiet, even though the parking for queens bath was close by still overall not a lot of traffic. Also enjoyed the deck off the front with the views of the mountains and ocean from the other side and seeing the resident chickens walking through the landscape. I am depressed now that we have left! Thank you Lia and Tammy for the wonderful stay and experience!
Perfect house for our family
Our family (my husband and I with our 4 adult children and 2 spouses) stayed at Whale Hale the first week of January. Everything was perfect from the large kitchen, spacious bedrooms, private bathrooms for 3 of the bedrooms, amazing hot tub, beautiful back lanai with a view of the ocean and large table and lounge chairs on the front lanai with a perfect view of the mountains and bay area.
The open floor plan allowed all of us to be together even while some were cooking and others were playing pool or watching a movie. The 10 minute hike to Queen's Bath was also a big plus. We hiked this trail several times while we were there. The coastline there is breathtaking. We would highly recommend staying at this house!
Welcoming and Wonderful Whale Hale
We just spent a week in this beautuful home perched at the edge of a spectacular location. Stunning views from both floors - ocean, tropical fauna, mountains, and valley. So peaceful sitting out on the numerous decks and enjoying the beauty and tranquility around us. The open living room and kitchen space invites all to lounge or pitch in with dining or fun activities. The billiard table, jetted tub, ping pong table and spacious bedrooms and bathrooms were appreciated by our party of 10. The laundry room with two sets of washers and dryers were a luxury. Wonderful walking and running paths await you outside the front door.
Historic Hanalei town is just down the hill from Princeville. We enjoyed the Haraguchi Rice Mill and Taro Patches tour. Our young adults had a blast on their Kaua'i backcountry tubing adventure.
Lia was easy to reach and quick to respond to our lodging request - mahalo!
Tanya was helpful and very accommodating. We greatly appreciated it!
Such an amazing family time shared for Christmas week - we will treasure our memories for a long time. 3 generations - just priceless!
Great for a large families
This was an awesome home for a large family. We had 10 people and we were all very comfortable. The house was well equipped in all areas. The beds were very comfortable and they had a lot of bathrooms. They have a pool table and ping pong table as well, which kept the older kids very busy. We were close to many restaurants beaches and shopping. Overall, we had a great time and appreciate them sharing their home, so we can have such a great experience. My only complaint was that the hot tub didn't heat as hot as we would of liked, since it was a little cooler in November. They had their pool person come and look at it and it improved, but it still didn't get as hot as we wanted. If we come back to Kauai, we would definitely stay again.
So sorry you had issues with the hot tub. Usually it's just a matter of making sure the cover is on whenever it's not in use. Sometimes kids also play with the controls and turn it down. With a tub this large, temperature can be an issue when the heat is allowed to drop.
So happy you chose to stay at Whale Hale and hope to see you again in the future!!
Met or exceeded our expectations!
Perfect location for all north shore activities, food, shopping. Loved it.
Great house, great location. Clean house, big kitchen.
We were a party of 10 celebrating a couple of graduations. We loved the house. Kitchen was excellent with two cooktops and 1.5 refrigerators. Two washer and dryers was wonderful for our big party. Views and location were better than expected, walking distance to Queens Bath and great view of Pacific Ocean out the back and mountains out the front. House was clean and had all the extra 'housewares' that are needed. Pool table, ping pong table and small pool made for great fun when we were home! Pool table is getting worn and bumpers dull. Only thing to keep in mind is the house does not have air conditioning -- seems like most homes in Kauai don't, but things did get a little warm and humid on the warm temp days. Given the right time of year we would highly recommend this home!!!
Wow - 4 stars because the pool table bumpers aren't bouncy enough. We'll have to try harder to meet expectations that high! ;-)
Very rarely do people have issues with the lack of air conditioning. The trade winds are usually blowing a wonderful cooling breeze through the house and the ceiling and plug in fans around the house add to guests ability to adjust their comfort levels at Whale Hale. The 20' ceilings make it unfeasible to air condition the house and as you mentioned - almost no houses on Kauai have or need air conditioning.
