We got to meet some of the super friendly and kind caretakers who went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and taught us the names of the local deer. We enjoyed how far back off the main road and quiet it is (yet convenient to restaurants in Pearisburg and the Palisades restaurant in Eggleston). Just wished it was darker at night. The teens enjoyed the firepit and the creek and walking along the gravel road on the other side of the creek. We'd love to come back.

Perfect getaway

Great accommodations for my group of college friends to reconnect after almost 30 years. We especially enjoyed the pavilion for cooking on the grill and group dinners. Walker Creek provided a beautiful setting and the water was clear, clean, and great for just relaxing. Several guys had good luck fishing.

Peaceful option for Fall travel

Wonderful cabin on a beautiful creek. Located in the mountains of Giles County VA, just 30 minute drive from Blacksburg. The cabin was great - cozy, comfortable, well-equipped with a kitchen, dining room and living room. Very peaceful and serene.

Nice house for outdoor activities

Very nice place to stay convenient to hiking and other outdoor activities in the mountains. Lovely creek in front. Kitchen had everything we needed. Living area was comfortable and everything was clean. Owners were very responsive.

Quick stay

Only there two nights. Very cute cabin. You must be connected to the WiFi to have any signal which includes making or receiving calls.

The cabin is extremely quiet with comfortable beds and living room furniture. The porch is a highlight, looking out on the expansive yard with abundant deer and the creek with occasional otters. Great star viewing at night, despite the unnecessary streetlight. Nice amenities not mentioned in the property description are a smart TV, paper products and coffee filters. The host was quick to respond to a question prior to check in. A couple of things kept this property from reaching 5 stars. First, the cabin could use a good scrubbing to eliminate some sticky spots and quite a bit of dust. Second, some critters had visited the trash cans before our arrival and trash was strewn over the yard. Adding critter-proof receptacles or removing all trash between guests would prevent this.

Cabin was very nice and nice location. Kitchen utensils and equipment not very clean. Coffee pot took 40 minutes to brew coffee. Oven, Microwave pretty dirty. Bathroom shower curtain insert pretty bad. Loft is open, so consequently not private. I don't understand by VRBO continues to insist that a 2 bedroom can mean that an open loft would be considered a bedroom. Host responsive and seems nice.

Everything it says, and more.

We stayed at Bear Foot Cabin this past week and we were in awe of its beauty. My partner and I had never visited this part of Virginia and we delighted in hanging back. We fished, kayaked, swam and rested for four days. We were sad leaving and we will come back again. Thank you for an effortless visit.

Great for a friend weekend!

We had a fabulous stay at the cabin. Our entire party was impressed with the beauty of the property and the cleainess of this cabin. Really, the pictures don't really capture how lovely the cabin is and just how nice it is. We adored this place and hope to be back! It is also nice because while it is smack in beautiful nature, it isn't a far drive to civilization, which is great when you forget something that you need. It also was such an easy drive from main highways. Rural feel with the convenience of being near some stores, restraints, etc.

Beautiful location and lively cabin. Right where we wanted to be.

Easy check in. Friendly folks. Creek is more like a river and lots of fun for kids if e had brought them. Will be back.

New River Outdoor Company Bear Food Cabin

Had never used any of the services or properties of the New River Outdoor Co before but this January will not be our last! Stayed at the Bear Food Cabin for our Honeymoon and with the winter rates for a new family on a budget, it was the PERFECT place for a romantic winter getaway! Very upscale for a 'camping cabin.' You have to experience it to believe it!

Exactly what we were looking for!!!

We arrived at just the right time to see the autumn leaves and had perfect weather. The cabin was very charming, comfortable and clean and we highly recommend it. There was no wifi but you can maneuver thru that over a weekend. The cabin and surrounding property were beautiful and Leigh and Ann Marie were awesome and friendly people to work with.

Wonderful stay!!

We stayed two nights at Bear Foot cabin and had a wonderful experience. Leigh and Britt made everything very easy from booking to check in to check out. The cabin is very well stocked with all the necessities. Everything was squeaky clean when we arrived. If you have the chance, go have dinner at Palisades in Eggleston! We had a great dinner there! In our short time in the area, we hit some of the highlights, but we want to come back for sure so we can explore more of what there is to offer! Thanks so much, New River Outdoor Company! We'll be return guests!

Great time!

My wife and I stayed five nights at Bear Foot cabin and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Amazing scenery, great fishing, and cool evenings in August left us with wonderful memories and the thought; “the mountains are calling and I must go”. The modern log cabin was very clean, well equipped, and nicely decorated. The owners and staff at New River Outdoor Company (NROC) were outstanding. Southern charm and hospitality are alive and well in southern Virginia. We won’t hesitate to recommend NROC to our friends and family.
