Luxury and fun in the trees on 10 heavily wooded, verdantly lush acres! Enjoy this beautifully decorated 2 bedroom, 1 bath guest house featuring a private entrance, luxury linens, outdoor recreation, hiking trails, a 92-inch projection TV with surround sound, and all of the peace and quiet you could ask for-- all just 20 minutes from the Bainbridge Island ferry.
In addition to the 2 bedrooms, there is a queen-size air mattress available and plenty of space in the living room for it. Great for kids! Looking for indoor activities? There are 70 DVD's to choose from (kid's titles and popular hits), an expansive game and puzzle closet, and a sizable library of books (including kid's titles). Outdoor activities? Explore the 10 acre property and pick blackberries, in season. If you're interested in leaving the property, there are beach toys (buckets, shovels, sand toys, boats, trucks), beach chairs, beach blankets and towels, a rolling cooler and noodles for floating.
Guests have private parking and a private entrance to the guest house. There are 2 private upstairs decks available, a propane grill, a fire pit for roasting s'mores, and multiple roughed out and short hiking trails.
The home is located just 20 minutes from the Bainbridge Island ferry, between Suquamish and Kingston, across from Miller Bay, very near Chief Sealth's grave. The Clearwater Casino is less than 4 miles, Point No Point beach is less than 12 miles, and wonderful shopping and dining are available in both Winslow and Poulsbo. 90 minutes from Olympic National Park, so day trips are easy!
Rent kayaks, get pampered with a spa day, enjoy the great outdoors or just curl up with a good book and relax!
Please note that the owners live on the property and have 3 very friendly dogs which may be out on the property (supervised) during your visit-- but would never be in your home. The guest house and main house are connected via an upstairs glass corridor-- but share no common walls. The doors at either end of this corridor have been soundproofed to ensure your stay is quiet and dead-bolt locked to ensure your privacy.
We are recent transplants to Washington state and are excited to open our home to those who enjoy travel and adventure as much as we do. We will do everything we can to make your stay comfortable and fun and can provide great recommendations on dining, entertainment and outdoor activities.
Andrea Ogg purchased this house in 2014
Back home in Colorado, we were fortunate enough to live on property that backed to a national forest. When we chose to relocate to Seattle, we knew we wanted a rural property that had access to lots of local amenities. The moment we drove up the long, verdantly green corridor of the driveway and saw the home, we knew it had to be ours. The guest house was a huge bonus for us as we enjoy hosting friends and family when they visit-- and we immediately saw the opportunity to use it as a vacation rental spot. In a very short time, the Fun House in the Trees became a very special spot for us and our four-legged kids.
We've chosen not to cover most of the windows in the main house (and the main living areas of the guest house) because the overwhelming feeling of being in a tree house gives us such peace. The 10 acres are perfect for hiking our dogs, blackberry-picking, and wildlife viewing. And who doesn't love making s'mores around a firepit?
We were able to reserve this place last minute over the MLK holiday. The owner was very accommodating and was able to prep for our arrival just a few hours after I contacted her.
Very dog friendly, and there is ample property surrounding the house where you can stroll your dog if you bring one along.
There are two units, one Of which is the rental and has plenty of privacy. Two well furnished rooms and a well stocked kitchen as well as washer and dryer. If you like movies, this is your place. They have a huge projection screen TV with all the movie channels available as well as a great stock of DVDs handy. We're going to the Galápagos Islands next month and we were able to watch a great documentary on this big screen. Lots to recommend with this place. Have fun a the Fun House!,
Great house & amazing owners! Would definitely stay again
We loved the location - could get to the city or the Hoh Rain Forest easily. We loved the area - close to water, restaurants, ferry, towns - but seemed like we were in a different world when we were there. We were in need of some serious down time and this was truly the perfect place.
Derek and Andrea were the greatest host - there when we needed them but hardly knew they were there when we were busy. They had some little touches that added to the charm of the house. Even when the weather was supposed to be really bad they were there explaining what to do "in case". We never felt worried about a thing.
Everything we needed was provided. And don't worry about their lovely pets. I'm not sure we would have seen them if we hadn't asked to see them. And they are really friendly.
Thanks to Derek and Andrea for an ideal week. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else if we are back in the Seattle area again.
Derek and Andrea's property and home are so beautiful, clean, quiet, and were exactly what we were hoping for during our stay in Poulsbo for a wedding. Derek and Andrea were extremely hospitable, making sure we had everything we required and providing tons of information on the area. Derek even offered to pick us up from the wedding if we drank a little too much! The huge projector screen and big selection of great movies was a bonus and the bed was super comfortable for this very picky sleeper. The living room and kitchen was big and open enough for the 6 of us to hang out very comfortably. I made the wedding cake for the wedding we attended and the kitchen was definitely big enough to accommodate the assembly. I only wish we had stayed longer so we could have taken more time to enjoy the decks and fire pit as well as the expansive property of trees. We'd love to visit Poulsbo and stay at this place again!
The property sits high above the road hence the name the "Fun house in the Trees". It's is incredibly quiet and peaceful. We did not see another person although if needed, the owners were right next door. The space is like a loft, living room and open kitchen all in one space. There are 2 bedrooms seperated by a beautifully large bathroom. I was concerned about sharing one bathroom with 4 people but there were no issues at all. There is a beautiful A/V system with a ton of movies and surround sound. Outside there are 2 spaces, one with a fire pit and another with chairs and a hammock. The property is beautifully kept and very safe (alarm systems, etc.) There is an entire closet of games and a bookshelf of books. There is no question we will be staying here again! Truly a comfortable, warm, quiet and relaxing space. Thank you!
Andrea and Derek made this the easiest and most comfortable 10-day stay! The guest house was the perfect size for my sister, me, and our dad. My sister and I shared the king and dad took the queen. We loved the open kitchen and living room--so much space! The uncovered windows were a wonderful way to enjoy the beautiful trees surrounding the property. Speaking of the kitchen, it was awesome. Andrea and Derek have supplied just about every utensil, dish, and spice you need. The only thing we had to buy were the groceries! We didn't use the TV very much, but when we did, the humongous screen and surround sound were very cool! Andrea and Derek were the greatest hosts! So friendly, welcoming, and ready and willing to help with whatever we needed. They gave us great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. We actually spent a lot of time away from the house, doing and seeing, but it was the perfect place to come home to. The driveway was the best part of coming and going--you'll see!! The house is such a short drive to downtown, historic Poulsbo and a short drive to the Bainbridge ferry terminal. We also drove a few times to the Southworth ferry terminal to pick up family from Vashon Island. It was about a 35-45 minute easy drive. When we come back to the area, we'd love to stay at the Fun House in the Trees again!! Thank you so much for everything, Andrea and Derek!
