About Bonnie Hallman
Doug and I have lived on the adjacent property since 1980 and it is here that we raised our family of 6 children. We now have 18 grandchildren.
Bonnie Hallman purchased this House in 2012
Why Bonnie Hallman chose Snydertown
This property was originally part of the farm we purchased in 1980. Because it is close by, we thought that it would be a good investment and possibly provide some extra income through vacation rental.
What makes this House unique
We think that you will enjoy your stay here. Others have described it as a 'hidden gem' because of the quietness country setting and out-of-the-way location. We work hard at keeping it clean, attractive, and comfortable for our guests. We hope you will enjoy this cozy place, and encourage you to take in a day at Knobels Grove Amusement Park.

Marketed as a house. Maintained as a cottage/cabin.
I have been travelling to the Knoebels Covered Bridge Festival for nearly two decades and have stayed in all types of accommodations including local rentals. This year, I booked this house for our annual trip (along with my wife, son, and a friend).
Upon arrival, the house was ready with the lights on and key in the door. After a lengthy drive, it was nice to get settled right in. The sheets were pretty worn and the blanket stained, but I was not obsessed with the linens. It was actually sort of refreshing because we are used to bringing our own.
Before going to bed on the first night, my wife saw a mouse run across the kitchen counter and go behind the stove. To see the extent of the problem, I pulled the stove from the wall to investigate. I found droppings all over the ground under the stove and a trap with the remnants of a mouse that had not been removed. It was fairly late, so I decided that I would call the owner in the morning to discuss the matter.
The next morning, I called the owner (Bonnie) and informed her of the mouse and the mess behind the stove. We went to the park, and returned late that night. When we returned, two members of our party saw the mouse perform the same action. Realizing that nothing had been done, I called Bonnie the next morning to discuss the matter again. I was responded to with playful laughter and a suggestion that I put any food in the refrigerator. I responded that I prefer that the issue was dealt with and suggested a trap behind the stove.
When we returned from the park the next night, nobody saw the mouse. Not sure if anything was done to address the matter, but all the droppings were still covering the floor under the stove.
If I was staying at a rustic cottage or a cabin, I may be able to accept this situation. But, this is a property being marketed as a house and priced accordingly.
Ted, I want to first let you know that I am sorry about the mouse. Yes I did put a trap there and caught the mouse. I am sorry that you felt like I was taking the situation lightly, I am trying to handle the cabin while also taking care of my husband who has cancer, so I tend to try to lighten things up while dealing with them. My suggestion to put things in the fridge was to help you to not loose any food till we caught the mouse. The cabin is advertised as a cabin and not a house. Thus the name Bon's Retreat Cabin. Which does not give any reason for inferior accommodations. My dryer has put a rust mark on the sheets but the sheets are new as of April, not sure how often I should buy new ones, but these are definitely not worn . I am sorry that your experience was bad , I usually can address a problem right away, but this time it took me a day, all I can say is sorry! Bonnie

An Amazing Weekend Aug. 2017
Bonnie's house was perfect for our family get away to Knoebles. There was plenty of room for everyone. The place was clean and well stocked. Bonnie was amazing with getting our laundry dried when the dryer broke and she even brought milk for my coffee after over hearing me tell my daughter we forgot to stop and get milk. The deck is wonderful and we enjoyed the thunderstorm and watching the lightening along with the fireflies. It was truly an amazing weekend.
I am glad you enjoyed your weekend. It is our pleasure to have the cabin available for others to enjoy.
The cabin meet our needs. Overall experience pleasant.
Enjoyed our one night stay very much.
Had a slight problem with the plumbing which Bonnie responded to in a timely manner. She was very pleasant to deal with.
We spent the most of our time at the amusement park and only ate and slept in the cabin. Facilities were clean and as described.
I woluld stay there again .
So glad you enjoyed your stay, I appreciated you letting me know there was a plumbing problem. Also glad it was an easy fix! Look forward to having you stay again. Bonnie
Nice, quiet place with large yard.
Nice size...3 bedrooms..had what we needed for a short trip to Knoebels.
I am glad you enjoyed your time. We like the distance from Knoebels because you don't have a long drive after your day at the park.
We are located only about 10 miles (10minutes) from Knoebels Amusement Resort. There are winery's within 30 minutes travel time and one nice local winery Spy Glass Ridge. There are also museums, and antique stores. The Covered Bridge Festival at Knoebles is October 20-23, the park is also open weekends. The Bloomsburg fair is September 23-October 1, we are about half an hour away.
