Wayne is from the Proctor area which is just outside of Duluth. We Mountain bike, road bike, paddle, run, row, Nordic ski and do anything else that is silently powered by us in the outdoors on a daily basis. Eve has written articles for Silent Sports Magazine for the past twelve years along with blogging on Northlandrunner. In addition, she has been the top ski trail reporter for Skinnyski for the past few years! Wayne has been working for Super One stores for thirty years and enjoys his job! Eve who was formerly a teacher and accountant, now coaches adults who are beginners and those who like to go slowly in running roads, trails, and Nordic skiing. Both Eve and Wayne officiate at the state Nordic and Cross Country meets along with volunteering for all of Grandma's events. Eve also times a lot of silent sports events, takes photos at many of them, and puts a few on.
Wayne Graves purchased this House in 2004
Why Wayne Graves chose East Hillside
We lived here until recently when we moved ten miles away to be able to walk out the front door and into several parks, the Superior Hiking Trail, and have some land.
What makes this House unique
This property is centrally located and has safe indoor storage for all those Silent Sports toys along with a waxing area and bench for Nordic skis. UMD, St. Scholastica, Chester Bowl, Bagley and Lake Superior are all within a mile of this house! Our website details how close we are to so many other outdoor playgrounds!

Personable and Lovely
I loved the property, but I also loved the hosts! They provide a cute little booklet that has different trails and places to eat! They are also great and very helpful in person and over the phone as well!
Would recommend it
Location, location, location
The home served our needs perfectly for my daughter and me to visit my granddaughter at the College of St. Scholastica a mile away. The three bedrooms allowed my granddaughter to stay with us for the weekend. The home would also be close for University of Minnesota at Duluth. We arrived late at 11 PM and our gracious hosts Eve and Wayne made arrangements for us to have access and provided snacks!
North Woods Cabin Meets Grandma's house
The first thing we noticed was how at home we all felt walking through the door, including our dog. He laid right down, like he'd been there multiple times before and we felt like we had walked into one of our extended family's homes. Our favorite thing was the attached garage. Amazing!!! We had only ever stayed in Duluth in Canal Park except for one unenjoyable trip when we stayed elsewhere, a little apprehensive about the location. We needn't have been worried. When the owners say the house is centrally located, they mean centrally located! Our son is a UMD student, so being close to campus was our main priority when booking, so were pleasantly surprised when we found we could really get anywhere in the city within 5-10 minutes. So nice.
Things to be aware of that might matter to some people that are all in the listing, but if you don't read closely enough you might miss: 1) All bedrooms and bathroom facilities are accessed via stairs, so if you have mobility issues, be aware of that. There is a futon on the main floor available.
2)This is a wonderfully quiet neighborhood. You will be expected to be a good quiet neighbor as well.
3) There is no WiFi . It didn't bother us much, but it might matter to you if you have a student needing to do homework via internet. Also, no cable TV, but local channels are available.
4) Pay attention to the book Wayne and Eve have put together with their favorite spots. We have been to Duluth almost every year for the past 29 and we were amazed at the gems in the book we had never even heard of!!..
We are absolutely going to stay again. Thanks, Eve and Wayne.
Thank you for the nice review! We hope you stay again! All the things you mentioned about stairs, WIFI, etc are in the listing so hopefully people read carefully!
