Serenity Bluff cabin ranks #1
The cabin and all the green beauty of the bluffs and rolling hills along with the contour farming was the perfect place to spend for our 19th wedding anniversary. I had talked to John, the owner, several times before actually getting to stay at the cabin so I already felt like I had known him. When we arrived it was just what we were looking for. Our boxer Dozer was just as happy as we were. He had so much area to run and explore. Also no neighbors so we didn’t have to stress out over him bothering others. John had all the amenities we could possibly need. Plus plenty of pamphlets for activities, parks, restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed campfires each night with s’mores and one night homemade strawberry rhubarb pie with ice cream from the Ellenboro Saloon after having a delicious fish fry suggested by John. We had been there first night of our stay and enjoyed large juicy burgers. The fences and the cabin lite up each night and was just magical along with the added fireflies. Borah creek was just below us and for a couple of days Dozer got to watch the cattle which was his first time. They would be gathered and bellowing their “moo songs” and he would just stand and stare. Sitting on the front porch listening to the wind chimes was another highlight. So much serenity to sit and enjoy our morning coffee. John came and visited and shared so much of his knowledge of growing up and living in Lancaster with us. So much we didn’t get to check out so hoping to be back in the future. John asked us what had been our favorite part of our vacation and it was most definitely just the peaceful, relaxing time on the porch and sitting by the campfire without a care in the world. THANK YOU JOHN
P.S. we will be back!!!!!

Thank you very much for wonderful review, it was a pleasure meeting you. After reading this it makes me want to stay there myself. I know it's a long drive but I truly hope to see you again. Thank you also for leaving the cabin cleaner than you found it and the cute little angel. I will leave it right where you placed it. Stay safe. John
This cabin is perched on the top of a hill with an idyllic view from the porch of the green rolling hills of SW Wisconsin, complete with grazing cows. In the weekend we were there, no more than a handful of cars drove by on the road underneath the bluff.
Our welcome was beyond expectations. Not only were there homemade cookies and a welcome note, but the following morning the owner (John) visited with us for awhile on the front porch and brought pastries from town. He's very keen to make the rental experience and the overall visit to his region a fruitful one.
We didn't do much cooking while we were there, so can't really comment on the kitchen supplies other than to say we had plenty of plates, glasses and silverware, as well as a microwave for heating up and a coffee maker for the morning. It's a small but functional kitchen space.
The bedrooms are essentially the open loft space upstairs in this cabin, and luckily neither my friend nor I are very tall, so the limited headspace didn't bother us.
Overall, it was a great weekend and we both agreed that we would bring our families back to this cabin in the future.
These 2 ladies are in my top 3 of guests all time. Great conversation on the porch with coffee and fresh pastries. I consider myself fortunate to have met them and hopefully will not be my last. Certainly helped to have nearly perfect weather. I'm lucky to be located half way between the twin cities and Chicago, about 4 hour drive either way. Hope they come back again. John
Driving up the lane, we knew we were going to have the peaceful stay we were looking for...& it was
John was a great host! He made sure we had everything we needed, shared an awesome motorcycle route and gave us restaurant suggestions when we rolled in late our first night. The cabin had everything we needed plus more (loved not having to buy seasonings or A1 for our steaks). The bonfire set up was great after a day of riding, looking over the bluff at the neighborhood cows, watching birds and the curious deer who came to check us out. Here's just a few of our observations about cabin and area.... such a cute little cabin and pretty area, my husband is 6'2" tall so sleeping in the loft was a bit tricky but worked if he ducked a bit 🙂, if you are bringing your motorcycle just be aware even though almost all roads are hard surfaced (loved that!) the lane to cabin is gravel, this did not bother us at all but some riders this could be a negative, we threw in our lawn chairs but found there were more than enough chairs on porch and around bonfire, a must go to eating place is Karla's Kitchen in town, we ate there for breakfast and supper numerous times, yumm! Bakery in same building rivaled our own local Dutch bakeries, yumm again!
We can't wait to go back, hopefully in the fall to enjoy the beautiful trees. Thank you John for a wonderful getaway!
Great view, comforts of home, caring host.
Serenity Bluff Cabin is a relaxing place to stay while in Southwestern Wisconsin. The cabin has all the comforts of home along with a great bluff view. We enjoyed the wrap around porch and sitting around the bonfire on some unseasonably cool summer nights. The location is easy to find and close to the town of Lancaster. Borah Creek runs clear and quick just down the road. John is a great host, pointing out places of interest, providing maps of the area, menus from restaurants in town, and making sure his guests are comfortable.
Quiet country cabin. Close to town of Lancaster for grocery etc yet far enough out.
Owners assured all needs were met. Very nice people! Cabin was comfortable, clean and welcoming. Perfect place to relax and read a good book. We would recommend it for sure!
Great Cabin. Great Access to Borah Creek
John Was a great host! One of my favorite places to stay in the Driftless to do some Fly Fishing. John has done some great work on Borah Creek. We had a comfortable stay and great fishing!!!!
