As a former merchandise manager of a large retail store, I have been using my expertise to combine style and comfort for the Camp on North Townhouse. My career in retail led me to this charming building, along with a storefront with double display windows. The 1280 sq ft of commercial space on the ground level is currently available for private, catered, "Rent for Event" zoned for 48 guests. Please phone or email me for details.
I am also a Certified Master Gardener, with many hours of volunteer work in the community. I personally love the town for its quiet atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and fresh, clean air. Spending time in nature with strolls in the woods for better health and lower stress levels gives me more energy, and a sense of relaxation.
Jim Thorpe is a great place to enjoy the outdoors. I like to cross-country ski on the D & L trail in the winter, and hike the Glen Onoko Falls trail in spring. February 18th and 19th mark the date for Winterfest, one of my favorite events of the year. Biking on the D & L Trail through the Lehigh Gorge State Park is a recommended favorite activity.
Dee Ford purchased this townhome in 2005
This classically inspired townhouse was built for America's newly rich industrial barons, in the late 18th century. Elements of the decor remain, but the space that left me gasping was the lobby, with the colossal polished wood pillars, and 10 ft ceilings. The building was rescued by my husband, Mark, and renovated to the highest of standards.
The commercial space has been a bakery, a floral shop, a gift shop and a green grocer. We are currently renting the space for private events, and we are zoned for 48 guests. We are developing the rental into a small boutique hotel, which currently sleeps 6 in the residential home.
Starting from the architecture of this rental, and going right through to the necessary furniture and objects, it is our goal to have our guests feel comfortable and happy with a stay at Camp On North.
Camp On North is only a few blocks to the entrance of the Lehigh Gorge State Park and Glen Onoko Falls Trail. Camp On North ideally located in the boro of Jim Thorpe and is very close to the historic district, just three minutes over the new bridge!

Dee really went out of her way to be accommodating and helpful. She even had coffee and tea and milk , etc in the kitchen. Very welcoming. The house is cozy and very pleasant. Jim Thorpe is a pleasant surprise. Great base to explore the great outdoors.
Camp On North was absolutely perfect for our family. We each could have our own bedroom (which meant, I finally was able to get some much needed sleep on a vacation for a change instead of being up all night from snoring) and I actually slept in an extremely comfortable bed instead of a bathtub! Everything was so clean and there really was no need to bring anything except ourselves. Dee and Mark Ford (the owners) were so nice! They spent time showing us around, talking with us, supplied doughnuts and items to make pancakes for breakfast, and had plenty of brochures on things to do in the area and places to eat in the area (everywhere they suggested was terrific). I am ready to go back! I would definitely recommend this property to anyone.
This is a spacious, cozy and very clean place. The house has everything what you need, just bring yourself there. The location is very convenient to everything: kayaking, restaurants, hiking.I want to thank these amazing home owners for making our stay unforgettable and stressed free.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Camp on North. The charming three bedroom home was perfect for our family of 4 (2 adults, an 18-yr old daughter and 15-yr old son). It was just as advertised: comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, storage area for our bikes, access to washer/dryer. The Fords even provided pancake supplies and coffee.
Dee and Mark take great pride in their property. It is very clean and well maintained. We felt very welcome. There was a drawer full of literature for restaurants and activities. They gave us great advice on where to go and how to get to the area attractions.
I would stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.
We particularly enjoyed that it was close enough to downtown to walk but not in the thick of things. We toured the Jail, Packer Mansion and explored the shops in Jim Thorpe. We hiked Glen Onoko Falls and the switch-back trail to the top of Mt. Pisgah. We kayaked on Mauch Chunck Lake. We biked the rail trail at Lehigh Gorge from Glen Onoko to Rockport and back. We also checked out the Bear Mountain Butterfly Sanctuary. If we had more time, we would have done more!
The listing was accurate. The house was very clean. The owners were very accommodating - kitchen stocked with coffee, creamer in the refrigerator, waffle mix & syrup. I would definitely rent this house again. Lehigh Gorge State park is nearby. Great area to hike and bike.
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is lovely and spacious for a family of four. The kitchen is filled with plenty of dishware and cookware, and there is even a waffle maker! The beds were comfortable and the full bath was quite spacious. Dee and Mark were extremely hospitable and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!
