Our Guesthouse is part of Jim Thorpe's history - housed above an old soda fountain store that dates to 1874, our historic home allows guests to enjoy the old world charm that continues to define Jim Thorpe. The building renovations have retained late- 19th- century design details, and gives guests the opportunity to admire architectural history with the original storefront and display windows still intact.
Many homes, especially historic ones such as this one, feature millwork and carved wood throughout. Built in 1874, this historic home became known as the Mrs. Annie Martz building, who resided and had an ice cream soda shop here. Over the years, the building has served in a variety of uses. The living room features an impossible to miss carved wood pillars and the original staircase. The clean, updated kitchen with ceramic sink is fully equipped with coffee, tea, sugar, spices, creamer, foil, plastic wrap, baggies, cooking oil and spray.
The home features three bedrooms that are dressed with designer sheets, comforters and quilts. The bedroom on the second floor has a King bed. The third floor front bedroom has a Queen upholstered bed with 3 sunshine - filled windows. The third floor back bedroom has a Queen upholstered bed with a mountain view. The nearby bathroom has a cast iron tub/shower along with a generous amount of towels. There is a dressing room for stowing luggage. There is a fold down futon located in an alcove. A half bath with pedestal sink is on the second floor.
Guests have exclusive access to the two floors of the Townhouse just as the shopkeepers did, who lived above the business. The home spans three stories with the first floor featuring a laundry room for your use. You may also access the private courtyard with shrubbery border and use of the BBQ grill. The entrance is at the back of the building and on-site parking that makes unpacking easy.
Located in the middle of town, the Glen Onoko Guesthouse is named for the famous Glen Onoko Falls Trail, known for amazing hiking featuring multiple waterfalls, and biking activities at the Glen Onoko Access of Lehigh Gorge State Park. Our home is an excellent base for exploring some of the town's top attractions and is a wonderful family getaway with the grocery store, pizza shops, ice cream, breakfast eateries, Salon and Spa nearby.
