About the property

Over 5,000 sq ft., ample parking, and fun for everyone!

Our bay front home, is located near the two mile marker on Ft. Morgan Road. It's truly a fisherman's dream! Early risers can sit on one of two large balconies & sip coffee while watching dolphins, shrimp boats, & the ferry cross between the Fort & Dauphin Island. If swimming in the bay isn't for you then just across the street are the beautiful, pristine beaches of Gulf Shores. You can have the best of all worlds with this vacation rental. It's away from the mainstream beach traffic, but both the salty sea & the bay are at your fingertips.

'Home Place' is a two-tier design with parking below the house. It has a spacious floor plan with an open kitchen/dining/& den areas that overlook the bay. There are 2 bedrooms & 2 baths downstairs. The staircase leads to an open landing area, a 3rd bedroom, and the master bed/ bath.

Kitchen: fully stocked with all cooking necessities & small appliances (coffee pot, toaster etc)

*new stainless double oven & microwave

*Stainless fridge that is 1 year old

Dining Table: seats 8, bar area seats 4

Den: Sectional couch & Love Seat, flat screen TV (with Dish Network)

Hall Bath- full bathroom with double marble vanity, separate tub/shower & toilet room

1st bedroom: Two full size beds, dresser, nice size closet, & flat screen TV

Master bedroom & bath: These are both HUGE rooms. A private balcony that overlooks the bay is accessible through french doors in the master bedroom.

A king size bed & a decorative love seat provide ample sleeping space. The room also has a dresser, chester drawers, 2 nightstands, flat screen TV, and a small desk.

Master bath- huge open area with double marble vanity, walk in shower, marble Jacuzzi tub (that's currently out of order)

*several towels/rags are in each bathroom

* Full size washer/dryer

*additional roll-away beds are in the downstairs hall closet. Linens are not provided for these. If you plan to use them, you might want to bring twin size sheets & extra blankets from home.

* Below the house in the storage room you will find a kayak with paddles, misc. fishing supplies, & a ping pong table. Renters are welcome to use any of these items. However, we do ask that you DO NOT take the ping pong table upstairs. It can be brought out under the house on the huge slab and played. Please remember to put it away (as you found it) at the end of your stay. The kayak is to be used at your own risk. WE are not responsible for ANY accidents that may occur while exploring in the kayak. Also, I do suggest you wear swimming shoes when venturing very far out in the bay. It is to be used ONLY in the bay waters directly in front of our house. Never should it leave premises.

*Due to past storms, our pier is no longer in existence. We have plans to rebuild it very soon.

There is ample parking for families bringing more than one vehicle in our yard.

* Boats & Jet Skis welcome!!! A public launch is less than 2 miles away (at Ft. Morgan).

*Crab & fish till your heart is content from the public pier (same place where the launch is) that is open 24hrs. This is also where the Mobile Bay Ferry loads to take you across the bay to Dauphin Island.

*** This is a Smoke Free Home

*** Pets are not allowed

Fort Morgan is located at the tip of Mobile Point. It and Dauphin Island, on which Fort Gaines is situated, enclose Mobile Bay. The history of the fort dates back to the War of 1812 and continues to be very intriguing today. Tours of the fort & museum are offered daily. Our home is only 2 miles from the fort!

Children & adults alike enjoy riding across Mobile Bay to Ft. Gaines on the Ferry. Once arriving at Dauphin Island, along with touring Ft. Gaines, a visit to the Sea Lab is a must!!!

Fishing options are unlimited......From the shore banks, to private/public piers, and in the waters of the bay/ Gulf of Mexico there's no telling what you could reel in. Speckled Trout, Redfish, White Trout, & Mullet are some of the inshore favorites. While Off-Shore you may be lucky enough to pull in Red Snapper, Grouper, King Mackrel, and/or Amberjack. There is a huge public pier at the fort that is open 24hrs a day. Both Inshore & deep sea fishing trips are available through the Gulf Shores Marina's Charter Fleet (less than a mile from the house).

While Ft. Morgan is a secluded piece of paradise there are several restaurant options available within minutes of the house. (Tacky Jacks 2, Sassy Bass, The Beach Club). Since Gulf Shores is known for yummy seafood I thought I would list a few of our favorites. All the ones listed below are in the Gulf Shores/ Orange Beach area (about 25min away from the house)

-Lu Lu's Homeport (has an outdoor activity area for the kids to play)

-Papa Roccos Pizza

-The Hangout (has an outdoor activity area for the kids to play)

-Cosmos

-Brick & Spoon

-Cobalt

-Lambert's (Foley)

Additional Activities close by:

-Waterville USA

- Put-Put Golf

-Tanger shopping outlets (Foley)

Great location for a great value!

  • 4 of 5

I would first like to say the owners are extremely nice and responsive. We ran into one of the two air conditioning units not working properly and Tanya had a tech out the early Monday morning to fix the issue and was very appolegetic about the issue. We had 3 families staying and there was plenty of room. Large deck, huge open floor plan, and 3 bathrooms made it nice for all to not be on each other's toes. We enjoyed the location being about 20 minutes from Gulf Shores. The beaches were walking distance on the Gulf side and never very busy. We also like that this property faced the Mobile Bay side which cut down on the concern of the kids playing in large waves and needing parental supervision 24/7 while near the water. The property is definitely "lived in", so if your looking for a pristine property, this may not be for you, but that said, everything was clean, operational, and for the price was a great deal. Would definitely stay here again if back in the area for a vacation.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I traveled to Gulf Shores to escape the cold of Kansas City. I picked this house because of the previous reviews and amount of space, I am completely satisfied on both accounts. Our group consisted of three adults and six 11-17 year olds. Everyone had their own bed and plenty of space to stretch out for that much needed alone time that teenagers seem to require. The views are fantastic and it was very nice to have our own private beach. The house itself is not perfect but has a very comfortable, homey, lived in vibe. There are things that need repair (just like home) and the water pressure upstairs is very low. But for us it was perfect and just like being at our home away from home.

A most most wonderful stay.

  • 5 of 5

We had a most wonderful stay, peaceful and relaxing. The view out over the bay was breathtaking in the evenings, the sight and sound of the birds during the day was so enjoyable. We made some wonderful memories and will definitely be coming back. Thank you for the opportunity to visit this great home.

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 7 nights. The beds were comfortable and the rooms nicely decorated. There is so much room in that house. The owners were very helpful. It was very relaxing to be there. We did see the dolphins when we crossed the bay with the ferry and also in the Gulf. But one morning at about 7:30 am when we were sitting on the deck we saw a shark very close to the house. We couldn't believe our eyes. The birds were going crazy but we thought it was because they were fighting then we saw this huge fish coming closer to the house. It came out of the water when it tried to catch a bird that got away just in time, that's when we noticed that it was a shark. We also saw him catching a fish and shaking it, then it went back into the bay again towards the Gulf, and the birds calmed down. That was a special experience. We haven't seen a shark before or after that. We also saw the blue angels practising above the house which was also very neat. We had a very enjoyable time even when the weather was chilly the first weekend we were there. We did a lot of sightseeing. We visited the aviation museum in Pensacola Florida which was very interesting. We drove around to Mobile and down to Dauphin Island. There we visited the science lab and learned more about the bay. The Island was beautiful. Wouldn't mind going back to this house again.

Comfortable Bay side home with beautiful view

  • 4 of 5

Our whole family came together for Thanksgiving , we enjoyed the view and the quiet away from the crowds. Since this is close to Fort Morgan it is a little further out, but worth it ! The house has an empty lot with a little beach on each side which was perfect for the grandkids & nobody was right beside us. The beach by Fort Morgan & the Natural Wildlife area were nearby and easy to get to also - both were great! While the house is not new it is so comfortable you feel like you are visiting friends - owners were very friendly & helpful even made sure I had the right casserole dishes for microwave. We felt very much at home. Had everything we needed including beach chairs. Be sure to take your groceries ( or get on the way) since the closest bigger store is a Dollar General about 14 min. away - but it had just about everything but fresh vegetables. If you are looking for a good family spot - this is a great place- would rent it again.
