Quiet, comfy, perfect!
Our stay at Sam’s house in Kahuku was perfect!! Small, comfy house with everything you need for a relaxing vacation. It’s in a great neighbor that is quiet and friendly!! Great spot to head to the North Shore or south to Honolulu!! Close to Hukilau and Malaekahana beaches!!! Good hikes close by. Polynesian Cultural Center 5 minutes away. Foodland for groceries for those who like to fix their own meals, Laie Palms Cinema for a movie, Angel’s for ice cream and Dole whip, Seven Brothers for awesome burgers and shrimp all 5 minutes from the house. Sam is friendly and helpful!! Oh, there are roosters that crow so take earplugs if that bothers you. Overall, wonderful location!! Will definitely stay here again and again!!!
Not the best
While the house itself is not bad it doesn't have AC and gets extremely hot.
Great location to visit PCC
Overall a nice place to stay. Easy check-in with the key in a lock box. We loved the location because it's close to the PCC
( Polynesian cultural Center). There's a nice grocery store and other shops and food only 10 min down the road. There is a beach to walk to but not a beach you'd like to swim at. Waves were rough and the beach was really dirty. We stopped and cleaned up the part of the beach we were at. There are many beaches close by to drive to. Bring your own beach towels as there aren't any to use there. The house is neat and tidy and we liked having the 4 rooms. We only had a small problem with a clogged toilet and had to buy a plunger but an easy fix. Be prepared for free early morning rooster wake up calls! The four star rating is for only having one bathroom and it has the only mirrors in the house so trying to get everyone ready in the morning was tricky. Also for the high cleaning fee and mandatory insurance fee. Look carefully at all the fees before you book. Our host Sam was very nice and helpful. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
Perfect for a family vacation
Sam's house is clean, cozy and has everything you need for a family vacation. We had six people, two older adults and 4 young adults...it was perfect. He provided two TVs, which thankfully we did not turn on all week, an x-box, charcoal grill, ice cooler, washer/dryer, full kitchen and four bedrooms. Upon request he provided surf boards and body boards. The living area is small but has just enough space to play family games and visit. The front porch is nice and roomy with four patio chairs and a small table. We spent a lot of time sitting on the porch enjoying the birds and chickens. The neighborhood is very quiet, once you get used to the rooster wake up calls at 5 am. Walking distance from a private beach but we preferred to make the short drive to the various public beaches for snorkeling (Shark Cove), rock jumping (Waimea Bay) and beginning surfing (one half mile South of the house). We paddle boarded at Haleiwa, had Shave Ice at Tropical Rush and Willi WiIli's and ate several meals at 7 Brothers. The cultural center was a few miles south and the Climb Works Zip line was across the street and was 6 or 7 beautiful zips lasting over 2.5 hours. Bring or rent golf clubs and play Turtle Bay! This house was in the center of it all and Sam and his family were eager to take care of any needs (they replaced the microwave within hours of my text saying it was broken). Bring your own beach towels and snorkels or buy them cheap at FoodLand. No need to bring board games. Wifi works great so bring your computers and tablets. There are three Costco's on Oahu so we started there then supplemented from Foodland. Keep in mind, Laie closes down most of its stores on Sunday but the Foodland in Pupukea is not that far North by Shark Cove and also sells alcohol if wanted.
"Completely not what we expected, very relaxed setting, quiet star filled nights! Home was warm during the cold night and cool during the warm days! Our children enjoyed hearing the local chickens in the morning. My daughter has never seen a chicken in real life, she was able to see one and her family of 7 chicks walking past the yard. I would highly recommend this home to anyone! Great location, beaches are amazing! No one was on the beach for the 3 days we went! Property manager was very , very accommodating and the Beach Package was worth it!
