About Owner/Manager

This beautiful cabin was custom built by our retiring grandparents 30 years ago. Used in summers and for family get reunions. We just purchased from their estate and updated it so our family and others could continue to enjoy.

Owner/Manager purchased this house in 2014

Why Owner/Manager chose Smoky Mountains

Quiet and secluded, high on the mountain ridge yet close to town and many activities and adventures.

What makes this house unique

Awesome fireplace and lots of room to enjoy family together or separate. Views from the large deck. Fully furnished with everything a visitor needs.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Arrived to the cabin yesterday. What a beautiful spot! The road is a challenge since we are riding a full dress Harley Davidson with 2 weeks of gear. But, we made it and are enjoying the quiet.

Amazing cabin and view

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying here, we really like the quiet and secluded location of the cabin. If you're looking for privacy this is the place, it's literally on top of the mountain. It is close to some very good spots such as Pisgah and DuPont Forests and some random creeks that you can pull over and explore. We have 3 kids for a total of 5 people and had more than enough room. I highly recommend Old Sarum!

Perfect Family Reunion!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented Old Sarum over Memorial Day weekend and had my parents and my brother's family all up here. There was plenty of room for all three families (13 people in all) and it was everything that was advertised and more!!! I couldn't have wanted anything more, and to just say that it is well-provisioned is an understatement! We also loved the drive up the hill. Even after a hard rain our 2-wheel drive cars had no trouble. Loaded down we just put it in low gear and even the switchbacks were easy to maneuver as there is ample flat space to go forward and backward if need be. My 20-year old daughter, who has driven mostly flat roads where we live in Florida, learned to maneuver and brought five people at one time safely up the hill in our Toyota Camry. That was a great part of the fun! And the stars at night are astounding! If you stay, and I highly recommend you do, turn all the lights off in the cabin and stand on the deck late at night. You will be amazed! I'm back home at sea level now, but my heart is still 3,600 feet in the air!

Great secluded cabin with teriffic views of Cold Mountain.

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed staying at Old Sarum and especially the deck and great fireplace. The well equipped kitchen was perfect for our family meals and Christmas dinner. When not taking in the views at home, the kids enjoyed hiking nearby trails.

Great house and location

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time staying at the house. The fact that it takes a little work to reach adds to the fun. Fantastic porch/view, especially in the leaf season. Close to Pisgah and other hiking. Guestbook worth perusing for some entertainment. Would certainly return.

Lovely mountain cabin retreat. Peaceful with beautiful mountain veiws!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Old Sarum a peaceful mountain retreat. The owners did not miss anything, all of the comforts of home were available. The veiws were amazing ,at every time of day . The only reason we did not rate this property 5 stars was the driveway--a 1 mile plus "adventure" that would take just under 15 minutes to maneuver, that was with a 4 wheel drive Ford F-150 mind you. So, there really was no "popping out" for a coffee or a quick meal. Trips up and down the driveway needed to be calculated and planned. However, in some ways this added to the secluded peaceful ambiance of "Old Sarum" . Overall highly recommended if you have 4 wheel drive only!

Owner's Response: Glad you also enjoyed your stay. Yes the road has gotten a little rougher with this busy season of traffic and rain. I along with many others still manage fine with two wheel drive. The road is scheduled for service again soon. If not before the holidays it will be done again before we open back up after winter.
