About the property

Beautiful condo with excellent ocean views from the downstairs lanai and also the upstairs master suite. The grounds are beautifully manicured & provide a pool, hot tub & BBQ''s for your enjoyment. There is a tennis court across the street & golf is just around the corner. This property is located half way between Hilo and Kona making it easy to travel and see all the things on both sides of the Island. Volcano National Park is only 30 minutes away. The area is remote with 90 miles of undeveloped coast line in the Kau District. Near by towns of Na'alehu & Ocean View have grocery stores and restaurants. There are farmer's markets in Na'alehu & Hilo on Wednesdays & Saturdays. Kona also has farmer's markets. Fresh fruits, vegetables, locally grown and roasted coffee and artisan crafts await you at the local farmer's markets. Take a short walk to the Black Sand Beach and you can watch the green sea turtles frolic in the ocean or warm themselves on the sand. South Point and the Green Sand Beach are about a 25 minute drive. At South Point you can watch the fishermen and also see the more adventurous jump off the cliff into the ocean. A 2 mile walk will reward you with the sight of the Green Sand Beach. The path there is very rough and not recommended for vehicles. However, there are some people who have trucks and jeeps who will drive you there for a minimal fee. A visit to Volcano National Park is a must. We suggest visiting during the day to explore the park and walk through the lava tubes and then stay until dark to experience the beauty of the glowing volcano. Volcano House (a hotel, restaurant, bar & gift shop) turns 'lights out' after dark to you can view the glowing of the volcano. There is also a visitors center you can go to and be up close & personal with the volcano. There is such a wide variety of things to do, everyone will be pleased. You can explore, shop, golf, hike, go deep sea fishing, whale watch, or just relax & read a book. It's all up to you. The property is

About Thelma Hughes

We drove past this property 20 years ago and fell in love with it. We returned in 2005 for a vacation and have returned every year since staying longer each time. We love the peace & quiet of the property and the friendly aloha spirit found here. We have visited many vacation spots, but this one is our favorite. It has become a part of our lives. We hate to leave & can't wait to get back each year. This is a little piece of paradise and we are happy to be able to share it with others.

Spacious renovated townhouse in old Hawaii style!

This townhouse is the best value anywhere in Hawaii! You have two spacious bedrooms and two lovely renovated bathrooms, a large living/dining room, and a full, well equipped kitchen with new appliances and everything else you could need. The ocean view from the upper floor is superb!

The property is located on the south end of the island, about ten minutes from the quaint village of Naalehu. This is the closest that you will come to old Hawaii anywhere on the island. Black sand beaches, turtles, and great surf are a short walk away. The area is quiet and naturally beautiful.

If you love golf or tennis, facilities are across the street.

We loved our month long stay here and will definitely return.

My husband and I stayed in this very nice condo for a week. It was very clean and beautifully remodeled. It is a quiet and secluded area right on a golf course with a 5 minute walk to Black Sands Beach where we saw sea turtles lounging on the beach. The pool is very nice and I liked the little waterfall with koi. The people living there or visiting were friendly and quiet. Make sure you grocery shop in Kona or Hilo before heading out to the condo. Be sure to go to the bakery in town and enjoy a Malasada! Shaka restaurant is a great place to eat.

If you want to just relax by the pool/hot tub and read a book or go on adventures, this is the place to stay. The condo is located half way between Hilo & Kona. You can take day trips to either town and enjoy all the shopping, dining, tours, etc., they have to offer. Kona has many tourist activities as does Hilo. Hilo, 60 miles away, has the botanical gardens, a zoo, a great farmer's market on Wed., & Sat., zip lines, the Imiloa Astrology Center, golf, the Merrie Monarch Festival in April, and much more.

A visit to the town of Volcano where there are restaurants, golf, and of course, Volcano National Park, home of Kilauea, is an easy 30 minute drive. If you want to explore the park and walk through the lava tubes, plan to visit during the day and then be sure to stay til dark to experience the glow of the volcano. The Volcano House (restaurant, bar, hotel & gift shop) turns out the lights at night and you can experience the beauty of the volcano while sipping your favorite drink and having dinner. There is also a lookout you can drive to and be real up close & personal with the volcano. Be sure to take an umbrella, rain coat and a flashlight.

Past the 'Park' is the 'orchid gardens' (free admission).

In Kona you will find farmer's markets, shopping, dining, snorkeling, fishing, boat & whale watching tours, luau's, golf, 'The City of Refuge', & lots more.

The southern end of the Big Island has 90 miles of undeveloped coastline in the Kau District.

Your condo is off the beaten path so be sure to plan to cook meals in this fully equipped unit. In addition to stores in Hilo & Kona, Na'alehu & Ocean View have grocery stores. There are BBQ's in the pool area.

There is casual dining in Na'alehu, 15 minutes away. There you will find the Punaluu Bakery, the southern most bakery in the US, where they serve great lunch specials, sandwiches, & ice cream. They also have a great gift shop with reasonable prices. Hona Hou is a local restaurant with good food and great pies and cakes. Eat a slice or take a whole one home. Shaka is a restaurant/bar. On Wed. & Sat. there is a farmer's market with local fruits & vegetables, (be sure to ask for 'apple bananas' they are the best) flavorful locally roasted coffee, & artisan crafts. In the nearby community of Discovery Harbour, there is a newly opened pizza/pasta restaurant, (Friday & Saturday evenings).

You can explore 90 miles of undeveloped coast line in the Kau District. You can watch fishing and 'the adventurous' jump off cliffs into the ocean at South Point. Take a 2 mile hike into the Green Sand Beach. The path is rough and not recommended for most vehicles, but there are people with trucks & jeeps who will take you in for a small fee. Be sure to take plenty of water and wear sun screen.

The Black Sand Beach is within walking distance of the unit. It is a favorite tourist spot where you will see the 'turtles'. There is a small gift shop on the beach owned and operated by local residents.
