Slightly Off Retreat is truly a gem: peaceful, spacious, close to everything! A fantastic apartment with idyllic views, quiet surroundings, yet still so close to all Eastside hotspots, and downtown is only 2.5 miles away ($5-10 Uber ride). Coffee shops, some amazing restaurants, bakeries, bars and shops are walking and biking distance. Guaranteed memorable trip:)
With 1200 sq feet of space, this fun apartment features a full bath, 2 bedrooms (queen and full beds), huge den, full kitchen and utility room. 4 people is typical, although 2 more can sleep in the den (queen airbed provided).
Located on the bottom level a beautiful East Nashville home, Slightly Off is completely separated from our residence, with its own entrance, driveway and carport. You will find board games, books, movie channels, free WiFi, DVD/VHS/CD players & DVDs/VHSs to play. Also, guitar, banjo, djembe along with a record player are in the apartment.
It is an unusual find in historic Lockeland Springs, to be situated next to Shelby golf course with wooded acreage behind. Enjoy the view and solitude from an awesome porch while being only minutes away from the Country Music Hall of Fame, museums, and more.
Shelby Park is a large city park next to our home. It features a public golf course, driving range, tennis courts, playgrounds, duck pond, ball fields, and walking paths. It is also part of our city's green way system with miles of green ways to walk, jog, or bike alongside the Cumberland River.
We have 2 friendly dogs (australian shep & great pyr therapy dog) who stay in our portion of the home and the backyard. Most guests never meet them, but holler if you want to!
The lower level of home is completely yours and securely locked from upstairs. You have a full utility room, kitchen, bath, etc.
What do we love about the neighborhood? Everything! Golfers should definitely take advantage of the course. Shelby Bottoms is a great wetlands nature walk - you can bike it 4 miles over a bridge to OpryMills, wave pool, General Jackson, Grand Ole Opry. We are big fans of shows at the historic Ryman -- downtown is so close and you can take advantage of a $5 Uber car ride to go to our fantastic symphony hall, the Ryman, Country Music Hall of Fame or one of the many free concerts on the riverfront or courthouse. But we have to say, you can keep to a 1-mile distance of our home and hear tons of music, see great local art, shop unique boutiques and eat at fantastic restaurants.
Let us know what you are looking for in transportation. Bikes can be rented at 5 points - Bus line is close that runs right into downtown - Uber & Lyft are readily available.
Guests have been full of compliments on the place, and their reviews describe it best. You will enjoy your stay as well:)
East Nashville, specifically historic Lockeland Springs, resident for 20 years. Grew up in Nashville - LOVE my city and this neighborhood in particular. Mother of 2 beautiful college girls. Official Pet Partner with Louie my Great Pyrenees. Realtor who builds and renovates. And kicking off my life as concert promoter since I built a stage in the back yard for music nights.
Kelli Reeves purchased this apartment in 2007
Fabulous!!! Kelli is very warm, friendly, and welcoming; added such nice touches to make us feel welcome. We rented this place for a long girls weekend (3 of us) of 5 nights and we found the apartment perfect in location , size and design. It is very well kept and clean!!!! What a treasure. It was truly more than I expected. I can't wait to go back!
Loved the outdoor patio... quaint cottage feel.... quiet area with a wonderful view
Our family had a great stay with Kelli! She was a wonderful host and we would return in a minute. Everything was very organized so we could find all the places we wanted to visit. We did a lot of walking including walking to the city the first day since their was a marathon so it was hard to get there!! We were able to see everything we wanted to see including a concert at the Grand Ole Opry! The apartment was perfect for our family of 5! Loved the porch and all the outdoor flowers!
We really enjoyed staying in the Slightly off Retreat! The place was very cozy, well decorated and super clean! I especially loved napping on the settee on the porch! Great location, we could walk to some of East Nashville's trendiest restaurants. Our host was lovely, very helpful with recommendations and so nice to let our kids say hi to the dogs. The kids really loved playing in the yard, with the tire swing and the stage! I would highly recommend staying here if you want to check out East Nashville, and even downtown Nashville which wasn't a very far drive at all...
We went for a girls weekend and stayed for 2 nights. It was quiet with comfortable beds. We felt like we were at a little get-a-way but we were only minutes from Broadway and all the action. Would have loved to stay longer!
Kelli has created a great space in East Nashville.
The front porch over looking the golf course is so peaceful, you don't want to leave.
I was in Nashville for some coaching so was gone most of the day so mostly just used the apartment as a place to sleep.
Kitchen looks well equipped. Bathroom is up to date with a great shower. Towels are provided and great quality.
Living room is comfortable and the whole place is filled with interesting stuff.
There is a washer and dryer in the unit, which might be handy for longer stays.
The neighborhood is excellent. Kelli will give you suggestions but here are the places we tried.
Post is great for coffee in the am and some unusual breakfast items.
Battered and Fried has amazing fried oysters
16Tenn is a good for bar food. (Great soft pretzels)
Lockeland Table- upscale - good farm to table.
All within walking distance. (5 Points is about a mile away.) Post and Lockeland are about 3/10s of a mile)
Would definitely try to stay here again when in Nashville.
My wife and 13yr old twins had an incredible time at Kelli's property. As a family, we enjoyed her home which has a fun style throughout each room and we really enjoyed sitting on the front porch and enjoying the beautiful view of the golf course and the nice breezes that flow through it. The property is large(3/4 acre) and has a big backyard with a tire swing, traditional swing and a music stage as well. My kids found all three of these fun play on or in each day.
The neighborhood is awesome, very safe and easy to navigate. There are clearly a lot of young professionals and families as we saw many parents w/strollers as well as 30-40 person running clubs moving around the streets. The neighborhood offers delicious food choices. We went to The Post for everything breakfast and even saw them filming an episode for Nashville there one day. We also ate at Drifters for BBQ, PizzaReal for pizza, Mas Taco(best tortilla soup) for Mexican food, Family Wash for Shepherds Pie and 1/2 price appetizers/Beer and the Pied Piper ice cream shop near all the fun and food of Five Points. You can walk or drive to all of these places to eat except Mas Taco and Family Wash which are about an extra mile from 5 points and totally worth the trip.
We took time as a family to get out and walk around Vanderbilt University which is about 5 or 6 miles from this Lockeland Springs/East Nashville neighborhood. The downtown music scene is only about 3 to 4 miles from the house and was fun to visit as well. A final visit took us to the town of Franklin(1/2hr drive) which has a terrific downtown to shop and eat in. We also went to the Carnton Plantation where the Battle of Franklin occurred in the Civil War. It is an incredible part of history and I would highly recommend the tour to learn about what happened there and the incredible family who helped so many of the living and dying.
We also got out to hike the Radnor State Park and the Long Hunter State Park which are 20 minute drives from the home. All in all, Kelli was a wonderful host who has created a fun, creative and inviting home for you to stay in to enjoy Nashville. She works very hard to make her property and your stay a memorable one and I could not more highly recommend her property for the character, location and quality it provides while you discover Nashville and the surrounding areas. We'll be back for sure!
