About James M Campbell

As a 2004 retiree and needing something to occupy my time I decided to open a cabin rental business. This occurred after winding up with more cabins than I could use at one time. Since then we have added additional features and at least two additional cabins to create a more complete offering of choices to our customers.

Why James M Campbell chose Middle

We fell in love with the area several years ago while passing through on the way from GA to KY. Since originally being from TN, the Cumberland Plateau seemed to offer all the serenity and beauty I was looking for.

What makes this cabin unique

The quite and beauty of the Cumberland Plateau is a natural attraction and is what brought us here in the beginning. To be able to enjoy all it has to offer on a continuous basis is amazing.

Amazing Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Cumberland Plateau Retreat!

I rented the cabin to view the solar eclipse with my girlfriend (now fiancé), and some other friends. We watched the eclipse, then walked around in the strange twilight afterglow, at which point I proposed to her. (She said yes!)

The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans. We made several great meals, and put the grill next to the fire pit through its paces. Firewood is provided - big logs are stacked near each cabin, and smaller sticks are readily available in the woods immediately around the cabin. No need to worry about running out.

The property is beautiful; and the cabins are secluded enough on the property - you can see your neighbor's cabin, but they're not right on top of you.

My only complaint would be the bothersome yellow jackets around the fire pit - HOWEVER, that's to be expected if you're outside during the summer. Be sure to bring a bug spray with DEET, we did find some ticks after a hike.

Check out Fall Creek Falls while you're here. There's plenty of outdoor fun to be had relatively close to the property.

I would highly recommend staying here. We had lots of fun, and would love to come back!

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was as advertised in the photos. It was very clean, we had no issues with our stay at all and the property was great. It's about a 15 minute drive to the park from the cabin but it is a very easy drive. Cumberland Caverns is also about a half hour from the cabin and I would highly recommend visiting them. The owner lives on the property so if you have any issues arise he isn't far. Also, the manager is very prompt to respond if you have any questions. The fire pits are nice and the wood is free. I wouldn't hesitate staying there again and would highly recommend for anyone looking for some peace and quiet.

Wonderful little cabin in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

We had a simply wonderful stay at Hickory Springs cabin! The cabin was immaculate! Everything was so comfortable and cozy. The campfire area was great and very private with beautiful swings - we made dinner and s'mores every night. The back deck was a perfect place to enjoy coffee in the morning. It was amazing how peaceful and quiet the area was. We enjoyed taking walks in the woods, playing games at the little kitchen table, and watching movies at night on the comfortable couch. I would highly recommend any of the lovely little cabins. We were able to take a peak into all of them and they are each just as cute and quaint as the next one. We absoluteley loved our getaway - looking forward to going back one day!

Simply Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented Hickory Springs cabin, which was immaculate and exquisitely decorated, as were all the other cabins that Sheryl, the property manager, showed us. Linens and towels were high-end and bed was one of the most comfortable I ever slept in. Cabin is extremely well-appointed. Grounds are beautiful and cabins secluded. Jim, the owner, and Sheryl took great care to make sure we had everything we could possibly need and their hospitality went over and above. Can't say enough good things. It was the perfect rental, lots to do in the area and we look forward to going back again.
