About James M Campbell

As a 2004 retiree and needing something to occupy my time I decided to open a cabin rental business. This occurred after winding up with more cabins than I could use at one time. Since then we have added additional features and at least two additional cabins to create a more complete offering of choices to our customers.

James M Campbell purchased this cabin in 2014

Why James M Campbell chose Middle

We fell in love with the area several years ago while passing through on the way from GA to KY. Since originally being from TN, the Cumberland Plateau seemed to offer all the serenity and beauty I was looking for.

What makes this cabin unique

The quite and beauty of the Cumberland Plateau is a natural attraction and is what brought us here in the beginning. To be able to enjoy all it has to offer on a continuous basis is amazing.

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was as advertised in the photos. It was very clean, we had no issues with our stay at all and the property was great. It's about a 15 minute drive to the park from the cabin but it is a very easy drive. Cumberland Caverns is also about a half hour from the cabin and I would highly recommend visiting them. The owner lives on the property so if you have any issues arise he isn't far. Also, the manager is very prompt to respond if you have any questions. The fire pits are nice and the wood is free. I wouldn't hesitate staying there again and would highly recommend for anyone looking for some peace and quiet.

Wonderful little cabin in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

We had a simply wonderful stay at Hickory Springs cabin! The cabin was immaculate! Everything was so comfortable and cozy. The campfire area was great and very private with beautiful swings - we made dinner and s'mores every night. The back deck was a perfect place to enjoy coffee in the morning. It was amazing how peaceful and quiet the area was. We enjoyed taking walks in the woods, playing games at the little kitchen table, and watching movies at night on the comfortable couch. I would highly recommend any of the lovely little cabins. We were able to take a peak into all of them and they are each just as cute and quaint as the next one. We absoluteley loved our getaway - looking forward to going back one day!

Simply Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented Hickory Springs cabin, which was immaculate and exquisitely decorated, as were all the other cabins that Sheryl, the property manager, showed us. Linens and towels were high-end and bed was one of the most comfortable I ever slept in. Cabin is extremely well-appointed. Grounds are beautiful and cabins secluded. Jim, the owner, and Sheryl took great care to make sure we had everything we could possibly need and their hospitality went over and above. Can't say enough good things. It was the perfect rental, lots to do in the area and we look forward to going back again.

Love staying at Cumberland Plateau Retreat

  • 5 of 5

I grew up going to Fall Creek Falls and love taking my kids there now. One of the best parts is we get to stay in these cabins. The owner has done an amazing job building them. There is a lot of careful attention to details in the craftsmanship. Kids love camp fires by the rocking sing and hiking in the woods. Parents enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch in the early mornings. Can't wait to get back there again!

Delightful Hickory Spring Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

It was a delightful experience spending a few days at Cumberland Plateau Retreat in the Hickoty Spring Cabin-- a perfect little cabin in the middle of the woods with everything you need for a great get-away with modern conviencies. The cabin is well furnished, clean, unique, and inviting with country charm. We loved sitting on the back porch listening to the bird symphony and having breakfast, lunch, snacks, or just enjoying nature. Looking out at the serenity of the woods and seeing the sunlight cascading through the trees was a daily joy.

Jim is a Welcoming host who does all he can to make your stay the Best. I call him "Jungle Jim" because he is an encyclopedia of information about anything and everything. Use your imagination as you walk through the woodland trails of Jurassic Park. Hopefully you will not meet up with any Jurassic animals. ☺️ You can even walk at night, marveling at the stars and lightning bugs, looking for eyes of nocturnal wild life.

There are many points of interest nearby and the Casa Luna Italian Restaurant in Sparta, as well as the Cookie Jar in Dryden are great eating spots.

AND, don't forget to bring deep woods bug spray. The woodland critters ate especially friendly! 😊

Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Hickory Springs Cabin and were so pleased with our experience there. Mr. Campbell and his staff made us feel at home and provided all that we needed. The cabin was decorated beautifully and was very clean with comfortable beds. We sat outside the first night at the fire pit and listened to coyotes howling. We were close enough to Fall Creek Falls State Park to get there quickly and enjoy the cascading waterfalls. We saw deer and turkey in abundance. We slept to the sound of rain on the tin roof and enjoyed the satellite TV (which worked pretty well considering it rained hard most of our stay). We drank coffee on the back deck that looks out onto wooded land. We hardly heard our neighbors. The price was most reasonable. We plan to return very soon. One of our best trips, thanks.
