About this property

Paradise Found/ North Captiva / Heated Pool

Escape the crowds to a remote tropical island paradise that can only be accessed by ferry, private boat or small private airplane. This 4 mile long-1 mile wide island offers miles of pristine white sand beaches, abundant wildlife and 3/4 of the island is part of an accessible land reserve.


Our newly remodeled home has all the luxuries including a large heated private pool, spacious pool deck and Margaritaville theme bar with seating for all. Lounge in the round bed at the pool or in the chaise lounges and patio furniture. Swing yourself to sleep under the palm trees in our hammock. Our ground-level pool bath includes a private outdoor shower and half bath for easy access.

The top level observation room with exterior deck overlooks the Gulf offering island views with extraordinary sunsets. This room has a comfortable Queen pull out Tempur-Pedic bed. Surrounded on 3 sides with windows for great protected viewing it also doubles as a 4th bedroom.

One floor below the observation room, you will enjoy a tastefully decorated open living area complete with large flat screen TV, large comfy couch, fully equipped kitchen, screened patio with patio table and comfortable seating, dining area coffee/drink bar area and full bath. The screened balcony at tree-top level extends the living space outdoors to take advantage of the beautiful natural scenery and tropical island atmosphere.

The master bedroom with king bed, and master bath are located one floor below the main level. Two additional bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds, as well as a third full bath and washer/dryer are also located on this level. Both Master and Mermaid room have TV's.


Only steps to miles of beach with no crowds or cars!

Included with the rental for our guests are a four person Golf cart, two single kayaks, one double kayak, one child kayak, life vests, ample beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, and a propane grill to complete your island getaway experience.

Enjoy glorious sunrises and sunsets that will be a favorite lasting memory for future years to come.

Bring your poles and fish off the beach, bring your own boat or charter for some of the country's best inshore and offshore fishing for Snook, Redfish, Tarpon, Snapper and much more.

Our island paradise is not accessible by car.
Enjoy a short boat ride over with views of the islands, birds and dolphins on one of two ferry companies. Take your private boat or fly your private plane in and walk to the property with landing and tie-down privileges.

Come enjoy our quiet white sandy beaches, sandy golf cart roads, birds, manatees and beautiful sunsets.

A week in Paradise!

Wonderful stay on North Captiva Island. The house had all the amenities of home, and all the toys of a vacation home. The bike, kayaks, golf cart, pool, tiki bar, all the rest of the toys kept my family busy for the week. We loved the island and plan to come back. Brian and Charm are very welcoming and have a great slice of heaven that you can rent!

Fantastic Week on North Captiva

This was our first time visiting North Captiva, and anytime we go someplace new, there is a bit of apprehension wondering if the location will be as good as hoped! We had no need to worry -- this is a very special island that is as beautiful as it is relaxing. We had an amazing time on the beach, riding bikes, kayaking with dolphins, visiting the manatees, watching beautiful sunsets and enjoying the FABULOUS home, Ka Hale Kai. Charm and Brian have a perfect vacation home and have thought of every detail to make your stay enjoyable. From sand toys, to beach chairs, to bikes, to snorkel gear and shelling bags -- they have it all! Really, all you need to bring is your clothes and groceries. (side note: I was very nervous about the whole pre-ordering groceries and no grocery store on the island as we have 4 kids who eat a ton. Don't be intimidated by it! Just over order food, but the Publix and taxi and ferry service have everything down to a science so it really was easy.) This beach home is in an ideal location. Very short walk or ride to the beach on the gulf side. You can ride your bikes or golf cart to any spot on the island in a few minutes, but Ka Hale Kai is really in the perfect spot relative to everything else. The pool is beautiful and refreshing, and the outdoor entertaining area is so comfortable and fun. We spent most of our time there when we weren't at the beach. All the rooms and beds were cozy and well-kept. The kitchen was more than well-stocked. Really, do not hesitate to book this home! Thanks to Charm & Brian for a great week.

House was amazing and exactly as advertised. Hosts were super responsive and friendly. Also, our flights home got canceled because of a big snowstorm, and they were able to let us extend our stay by a few days at an extremely reasonable rate, which was very much appreciated! Would stay again!

Upper Captiva Paradise

Our family with three kids ages 4-10 had a wonderful time. The house had everything imaginable to make for a relaxing and fun filled vacation. Charm and Brian made everything so easy- we only needed clothes and food for the week. Their pool toys, beach toys, and the kayaks were especially big hits. Our family really enjoyed seeing all the wildlife on the island and walking on the beaches in the preserve on the southern end of the island. Could not imagine a better family vacation.

FANTASTIC!!!

This vacation far exceeded any expectations I had. Charm and Brian are wonderful hosts. The best, very very helpful with the how's and what's to vacationing on North Captiva Island. They met us on the dock when we arrived on the ferry to get our luggage and ourselves to their place, that was great for us! Charm and Brian's place is the best...fully loaded...the kitchen had everything you would need! Dishwasher, refrigerator has an ice maker...very nice! Lots of comfy places to sit, to watch TV, play games or to just visit! Our bed (the king) was very comfortable. By far our favorite part of Charm and Brian's place was the pool area, we were in the heated pool everyday, it was wonderful. I personally loved the outdoor round daybed, took several naps on it! Lots of comfortable sitting by the pool also...our own private oasis with beautiful landscaping and vegetation...simply wonderful! We got up early like 5am to go shelling, we found amazing shells and lots of living creatures, super FUN! Restaurants: MANGOS: open everyday, bar food...burgers, wings, pizza etc...fun atmosphere and friendly service! BARNACLES: open every day, good food, good service! My son had the Mahi Mahi rueben super yummy and the Philly steak was great too! The Boathouse: you need to go to their website to make a reservation, do this before you get to the island, our food was fabulous from the mozzarella cheese sticks to the ribeye and shrimp...yummy!!! Over the Water: we were not able to eat here...must make reservation a week in advance...but heard it's the best place to eat on the island! We saw several dolphins, turtles, lizards and birds...lots of fun wildlife! On Fridays there is a little flea market thingy with about 5 or 6 vendors selling artsy stuff from 10 to 2pm...that was fun!!! My husband says he wants to move there and live on the island...lol Best vacation EVER!!! We will be back!!! You will NOT be disappointed, Charm and Brian are great and their place is fantastic!!!

I almost hate to give this place a great review because I’m afraid it’ll be so fully booked that it won’t be available for us to rent again. We stayed 4/3-10 with my husband, 3 daughters and their grandparents. It was perfect size for our group of 7. The area under the house had a tiki type bar, tables with chairs and lounge area with games. We spent a lot of time here and ate outdoors a lot! This area connected nicely to the pool area- the pool itself and surrounding area were beautiful- complete with loungers, cabana, and hammock. There were pool floats/toys, snorkel equipment, kayaks, life jackets. We were a quick lovely 3 min walk to the beach. Beach chairs, umbrellas and towels were great. We loved the 2 golf carts- they were much nicer than most of the others we saw. They had nice tires with treads and a trailer to pull the kayaks. The island is laid back and beautiful - nature everywhere. We saw manitee, dolphins, turtles, many birds, star fish, rays. We obviously spent the great majority of our time outside. The shelling was fantastic. Charm and Brian were great to work with and helped us with everything we needed. This was a really special vacation for our family - made great memories on North Captiva . I wouldn’t hesitate to rest this place again!! Thank you Charm and Brian!!

Great COVID-friendly vacation

Great house for a family getaway. Extremely low-key, not a place to go if you are looking for lots of excitement, but a great beach getaway. House was perfect for our family - each kid had their own space, plenty of room to hang out together in the kitchen/family room area. Heated pool was a great bonus - especially with the cool weather., the ocean was a bit nippy. Went out to eat twice at the NCIC and the food was good. Overall, a great place to relax and recharge. Charm was easy to work with. Only caveat is to confirm checkout time. We did not catch that it was 9:30 and were scheduled for the 11:30 ferry. They could not change the checkout due to incoming guests. I've never had a checkout time quite that early, so that was a bit of a surprise. I'm sure they would have been more accommodating if there were not guests arriving. You truly just need to pack bathing suits, shorts and flip-flops - great getaway, not crowded and lots of space to roam the beach.

Perfect house for a perfect family vacation

We can’t say enough about our stay at the Beach House. Charm and Brian are wonderful! It started long before our arrival. Charm emailed us great recommendations to make our trip run smoothly. They greeted us at the dock and showed us around their beautiful home. The welcome basket was a wonderful touch. We all loved the house. The kids especially liked the basketball hoop at the pool and we all enjoyed the dart board in the bar area. The outside shower made things so easy rinsing off from the ocean or the pool. The property has bikes and kayaks to use. We even checked out basketballs at the club house to play on the court. The screened in porch was perfect for our morning coffees or evening cocktails. If you have kids, we’d recommend bringing a football (or frisbee). The kids loved playing football along the ocean. We took full advantage of using the shelling bags at the house. The shelling can’t be beat and everyone had fun collecting shells for family and friends. Take in the sunset on the beach. We pretty much had it to ourselves. Gorgeous! Charm and Brian were so helpful whenever we had questions during our stay. We would also highly recommend Captain Emily for your water taxi. She also offers charter tours (which we all loved). Captain Chris Miles was great for our family fishing trip. Both Captain Emily and Captain Chris were great with our kids. Thanks Charm and Brian. A perfect house for a perfect family vacation. We can’t wait to come back.

One of the best and well appoint houses on North Captiva

This was our 7th trip to North Captiva and this home was awesome! Located on the northern side of the island just south of the runway, it is in a prime location! The house has a fantastic pool (with a beautiful palm tree that acts as a focal point). In addition, the home comes equipped with all the interior amenities you would expect, plus and outdoor wet bar and fridge, that completes a stellar entertainment area with darts and games. And, unlike most other houses, this home comes with many bicycles and kayaks for your use! I could not recommend this house more. We have stayed at many on the island and this is one of the best! And finally, the homeowners, Charm and Brian are fabulous to deal with. Brian even called to give me recommendations on fishing!

Amazing Family Retreat

Charm, We've stayed in many VRBO's and this is the most well appointed rental we've ever stayed in. Kitchen, linens, bikes, beach chairs. Literally a bathing suite and food is all you need. Thanks again for sharing your home with our family.

Amazing!!!

Amazing vacation!!! All you need to bring is your swimsuit and a few groceries. Everything you need for a great vacation is provided at the property. Our hosts Charm and Brian welcomed us at the dock and assisted in getting us settled in. This property is wonderful and so peaceful. Well stocked kitchen, wonderful porch to enjoy evening breeze, and the entertainment area downstairs by the pool we loved. When not at the beach we relaxed at the pool and grilled. Golf carting the island was fun too. We spent most of our time outdoors enjoying the beach and pool. Just steps away from the house you are on the beach at on the Gulf; and a quick golf cart ride to the beach on the sound near airstrip we enjoyed kayaking and swimming with the dolphins who came daily. Loved having a couple of meals down at Mangoes. In the evenings there was plenty to watch with Netflix and Amazon, Hulu, etc. Could not have asked for a nicer vacation. This was our first, and definitely not our last visit to Upper Captiva. Everyone there was friendly. Again thank you Charm and Brian! Your hospitality and home are amazing! We look forward to coming again 🙂🙂🙂

Great house and great location!

Our family of 6 (including 4 sons) really enjoyed North Captiva. The house is very well appointed and we weren't lacking anything on the trip. Charm helped us plan for the week on the island and prepared us for pre-ordering groceries, booking the ferry & taxi and organize the many fun things to do. Upon arrival, Charm and Brian walked us through all of the details of the house, from charging the golf cart, using the pool amenities, navigating the kitchen and entertainment system, etc. We felt cared for from the moment we arrived. They even checked in on us during the week to make sure we were managing well. About the island: North Captiva is offshore and away from the typical beach noise and activity. If you need/crave entertainment (e.g. restaurants, mini-golf, shopping, etc.) don't come. If you want to spend quality time with your family, come. We kayaked, road bikes all over the island, swam in the pool, fished from the shore, did an island scavenger hunt, looked for sea shells, explored every road with the golf cart, visited the manatee's every day, did all 3 puzzles, 3 games of Monopoly, movies when it was hot, etc. Every hot spot (Mangos/Barnacles) were no more than 3-4 minutes by gold cart so we could easily find one-on-one time with our kids without going too far away. BTW, the pool is in the shade from 8-noon and again after 4. The location of the giant palm tree and home was brilliantly designed to eliminate the need for sunscreen for most of the day. Only bummer from the week was Red Tide. Check it before you come to make sure it's not at peak season. We didn't spend nearly as much time on the beach as we ordinarily would. That being said, the pool was a welcome respite and provided needed relief from the heat.

Great family vacation.

This house was fantastic! Everything was so clean and well stocked. Homeowners even provided some extras we hadn’t thought of like extra beach towels, goggles, after sun lotion. Pool and outdoor areas were super nice. The beach was only a 2 minute walk or about 30 seconds on the golf carts. There are a lot of stairs, but I’m sure every house on the island is likewise. We also took advantage of the kayaks provided.

Great week on North Captiva

We had a great time once again on North Captiva. Charm and Bryan met us as we came off the ferry and showed us to their wonderful home on the island. They showed us all around their getaway and where everything was and how to use everything. We go there to relax and we did a great job of that. My wife daughter, her husband and 2 kids spent most of our time on the beach, shelling, snorkeling and just relaxing. A couple of dinners at Barnacle's, but most either cooking or grilling at the house. We would load up the trailer and go to the beach and a couple of days used the kayaks to paddle around the island. All in all, another great trip to North Captiva and we'll be back again. Thanks to Charm and Bryan for being such great hosts!

Ka Hale Kai is a fabulous house and experience!

We enjoyed North Captiva very much and Charm and Brian’s House, Ka Hale Kai improved the vacation even more! They are very accommodating and showed us around the house, pool, outdoor area and golf cart upon arrival. They were kind and helpful with any questions or tips about the island. The house is comfortable and well appointed. Charm and Brian have included many personal touches and extra household items that were hard for us to bring on the plane or that we forgot to order from the grocery. We had such a fabulous time on North Captiva exploring the beaches, the wildlife, kayaking and shelling. It was interesting to use the books available at the house to discover the types of shells that we found. We loved using the kayaks available at the house and our kids really loved kayaking along the coast and dolphins swimming next to us! Prior to the trip Charm was exceptionally helpful with any questions we had and giving us great suggestions to navigate our taxi, ferry and grocery order/pickup. She was also available for any questions we had during our stay. Whenever we weren’t at the beach, our kids were enjoying the pool, hammock and cabana lounge. They even had bikes that were the perfect size for our kids (8, 6 and 4). They have a number of adult size bikes too! Ka Hale Kai did not disappoint in any way and we are already thinking about when we can return for our next stay!!

Why they chose this property

We came to North Captiva Island with friends and discovered the pristine uncrowded beaches, abundant wildlife and friendly atmosphere. The ability to access the island by plane was the final point that helped us make the decision to purchase the home.

What makes this property unique

Since we utilize the property ourselves as opposed to being a business, we wanted to insure that we had all the features we wanted. Hence, the many kayaks, beach chairs, umbrellas, toys and games, the great pool bar with TV, the new Bluetooth sound system at the bar, and especially the pool level bathroom.
