Our lovely second, floor, one bedroom studio unit is spacious and comfortable. It has a separate entry and a private lanai. The studio has high vaulted ceilings with a plantation ceiling fan. (As with other units in our price range, we donʻt provide A/C.) The covered lanai has a view of the mountains and lush tropical plantings. Free parking in our unassigned lot is included with your rental.
Our studio is decorated with furniture in the Hawaiian and Asian whimsical style including a lovely rooster who doesn’t crow and wake you in the middle of the night! You’ll find a small teak table and chairs if you’d like to eat in the room. We offer you a comfortable, new King size bed and a sturdy loveseat with padded stool/coffee table for relaxing and comfort. We provide Oceanic Time-Warner cable and a flat screen TV, for relaxing after your days of exploring, shopping or enjoying the many beautiful beaches. The TV and router/modem sit on a red antique Chinese cabinet at the foot of the bed. We provide dedicated wireless Internet, along with 2 power strips to charge your various electronics.
The studio has a private bathroom with a roomy shower. The vanity area is separate from the bathroom, which is very convenient for after-meal wash ups. The floors in the bathroom areas are tiled.
If you prefer to relax on the private covered lanai you will discover a pair of comfortable chairs and a glass top dining table. You will also find your own 4.5 cubic foot mini refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster,, electric fry pan, tableware and flatware. Most items are housed in an outdoor cabinet for easy access. Weʻve added a pull down, semi-transparent shade to filter the afternoon sun. Just make sure to raise it to enjoy the colors of sunset!
Sandpiper Village is nestled on several acres of paradise in Princeville. The complex has a large enclosed swimming pool area with a communal hot tubi. Plenty adjustable loungers are available for your comfort and convenience. You also are encouraged to barbeque in this area using the two Weber gas barbeque grills and provided utensils. Sandpiper Village is close to the Princeville shopping center and restaurants, jogging path and the lovely Makai golf course and tennis courts. Miles of beautiful beaches at Hanalei, Haena, Anini and many more locations are only a short drive away! I am just minutes away in the event you need my help.
Local streaming public radio station in Hanalei, KKCR 90.9, plays Hawaiian music and a vast variety of programming. Something for everyone!
UPDATE: Due to the increasing number of stains caused by AVOBENZONE and OXYBENZONE in skin care products, we are asking for your attention. Avobenzone bleaches colored linens and stains whites when water is added, so the damages sometimes arenʻt visible until the sheets are washed. Weʻre losing a large number of towels and bed linens. PLEASE make sure to thoroughly remove and rinse away skin products before you wipe with a towel and before you go to bed. Mahalo!
NOTE: As of February 2016, Expedia/VRBO/Home Away implemented a "Service Fee" which is paid directly to them. We do not charge, nor do we receive, any of this fee. There service fee is in addition to the annual fee vacation property owners pay for each unit listed on VRBO/HomeAway/Etc. The fee applies to all rentals rented through Expedia subsidiaries.

Great place to stay in Princeville!
Just as pictured. The condo was spacious, clean, bed was comfortable, and the large lanai was great. Easy check in/check out, Marilyn was easy to communicate with and she even managed to help us out with an early check-in. Would definitely stay again!
-It's in Princeville.
-Neighbors arguing in nearby apartment.
-Bed was funky, mattress sinks in the middle.
-Guest parking was full at night.
-4pm checkin/10am checkout? The standard times across Hawaii are 3pm/11am. they are taking advantage here.
-Owner was quite rude and really made us feel like she only wanted our money. Zero Aloha.
I have never had to be this aggressive with any other guest. It was very uncomfortable for me, and I hope I never have to go through it again.
Youʻll notice that Iʻve received many kind reviews that mention my willingness to accommodate early arrivals and late stays - when planned in advance. This was not planned, nor was it mentioned ahead of time.
In this particular case, I had a solidly booked schedule and couldnʻt do a last minute change. I had to get the unit ready and move on to the next clean on my list. My concern was having a clean and comfortable place prepared for all the guests on my list.
No amount of cajoling could change the fact that I had no leeway to let them stay longer. The guest was very rude and aggressive over the phone and I ended it by hanging up on him. He arrived and was very confrontational. By then his girlfriend had left the studio with their items, and I was cleaning. He said he needed to use the bathroom and I agreed. I am not heartless.
Our "funky" bed is mentioned in other reviews with positive comments. Some wish it was a memory foam. One said it needed replacing less then 3 months after purchase! Clearly itʻs a matter of preference.
Very cozy and just as advertised.
Great place. Only drawback is limited parking.
Dynamic location with accomodating host, perfect for a short getaway or a long getaway
Typically, we use Air BnB, but we found this gem on VRBO and I think we're going to use them from now on. This unit was perfect for our three nights in Princeville!
The parking lot is easy to access and there is a small shopping center a few min drive away with boutique shops, grocery store, restaurants, etc. Hanalei is down the road another 10 min if you're looking to hang in a sweet town for the day.
The unit was clean and open for a single bed/bath, and the outdoor kitchenette on the patio was great to cook small meals, snacks, and hang out to recharge the batteries. It's warm at night, but the celing fan and extra floor fans work great. Kitchen supplies and bathroom towels were easily accessible. There's a cooler to take to the beach, and snorkel gear/beach toys for use in the cabinet that worked great (we only ended up using the cooler).
Arriving and departing were extremely easy, and wifi worked great the entire time. Marilyn even stopped by briefly the first day to check up on us and offer a parking space she had saved just in case we needed to move the car. She was also very accomodating in allowing us extra time to check out on our last day.
This was by far the best experience we've ever had renting a house, condo, apartment, etc., and we're already looking forward to getting back to this spot in Kauai! Thanks a ton for your hospitality Marilyn!
A clean comfortable accommodation in a nice neighborhooh
Everything we needed was right there. We would recommend it to others.
Nice place, comfortable good location.
When returning late parking can be a challenge. Accomdating manager and helpful, friendly neighbors!
This studio is the perfect place to use as base camp while you explore the island and beaches. While Iʻm listing them, Iʻm going to give you pronunciations so those who donʻt know how can hear and pronounce Hawaiʻian with a better grasp.
I also want to stress this slogan, regarding water after a rain: 'If itʻs brown, turn around!'
Immediately after a big rain river and stream waters contain contaminants that are best avoided. If you see brown in the ocean, wait until itʻs had a chance to dilute. Youʻll avoid what many people think may be bad food or a touch of the flu. Thereʻs so much to do on the island that rescheduling your water plans to avoid contact wonʻt ruin your vacation. Right after a rain, mountain waterfalls are something you shouldnʻt miss. There are plenty of vantage points in and around Hanalei for taking keepsake photos that are only possible after a big rain on the mountains.
If youʻre a surfer, Hanalei Bay offers a variety of experiences. You can rent kayaks and SUPS to play on the Hanalei River, plus boards for the bay. If youʻre wanting to try surfing for the first time, there are many surf instructors in the area. Take your pick.
If you are experienced at hiking there is a challenging hike to Hanakapiʻai Falls (hah nah KAH pee eye) from Keʻe Beach (KAY ay) where highway 560 terminates. There is no cell phone coverage here. Youʻll want to start early to get a parking space. Be aware of weather reports before you head out on the trail. Make sure you have sturdy hiking shoes. This is NOT an asphalt walking path. It is the clay dirt trail that has been used for hundreds of years. It can be extremely slippery. The river becomes raging from rains falling upstream on the mountain, sometimes while itʻs sunny below. Having the rescue team air lift you out is probably not on your list of Kauaʻi vacation experiences. Nor is it fair for the people who must risk their lives to locate and extract stranded hikers. Be prepared to end your hike with red dirt stains on your shoes or boots. Take plenty of water. This is basic hiking with no frills. But well worth it. Just stay smart and be informed! And enjoy beautiful Napali Coast (na PAH lee).
Take a boat tour of the Napali Coast, starting from Port Allen on the opposite side of the island. There are caves and beaches that can only be accessed by water. Incredibly beautiful. You can book a tour in Princeville or Hanalei at one of the kiosks.
In the winter drive east and watch the whales from the lookout at Kealiʻa (kay uh LEE uh) on the edge of Kapaʻa.
It you are a new snorkeler, I recommend Lydgate Park beside the Wailua River. Itʻs less challenging than many other places, but the fish will dazzle you! Itʻs a great place to feel safe and practice up for Tunnels.
You may see seals sunning and molting on the rocks as well if you go between August and November. As with all wild creature, please give them plenty of space - for their safety and yours! They are a protected species and fines are stiff for getting too close.
Itʻs hard to describe all the places and things you can do on this island. The list is never ending. Just ask and Iʻll share information about your interests.
We have beach items that change constantly, so I wonʻt give a list. I ask that you rinse them off with the hose thatʻs located by the tree, across the sidewalk from the lanai, to clean off the sand and dirt that clings after a fun day out exploring. You may find a shower at the area youʻve visited.
