Overview

About the property

3 Bedr, 2 Bath, Sleeps 6 -Restored Farmhouse - woods, pond, bridge, trails

My wife and I have now completed the four year restoration of a 1890 German Farm House just outside of New Ulm, Texas.

It is two miles from New Ulm, 16 miles from Fayetteville, and about 20 miles from Round Top.

The country house is nestled in the woods on 19 acres with a pond and walking bridges, walking trails and lots of wildlife.

The house, 2000 square feet, has nine rooms and a porch with rocking chairs overlooking a pond, and includes a large master bedroom with King bed, and two additional bed rooms, each with two Twin beds, a complete kitchen and spacious living room. Antique furniture is in each room. The house is quite large.

Located just 20 miles from Round Top (and nearby Warrenton and Carmine) and the semi-annual Texas Antique Festival, 30 miles from La Grange and the MS 150 Fair Grounds, 6 miles from Industry (Lindemann General Store and Dollar General) - the MS 150 passes right through Industry, 22 miles from Bellville (the MS 150 stops there for lunch), 8 miles from The Falls Golf Course and restaurant, 2 miles from New Ulm, the Texas Star Cafe, Hometown Hardware, 14 miles from Fayetteville and several restaurants, 18 miles from Columbus and lots of stores and restaurants, 22 miles from Brenham and the home of Blue Bell Ice Cream, 9 miles from Cat Spring and Carol's Kitchen (great fine dining restaurant), 7 miles from Frelsburg and the famous 120 year old Hiensohn's Country Store.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Five of us traveled here for Round Top in the fall. We arrived to an idyllic 1890 farmhouse in the country. The farmhouse was well appointed [lots of paper goods, cleaning supplies, towels], clean and spacious. However, the farmhouse did not have free wi-fi.

Richard, the owner, met us shortly after our arrival to insure we had everything we needed.

It is a 20-30 minute drive away from Round Top, but we didn't mind. Our favorite part of our trip was returning to the farmhouse in the late afternoon, sitting around, cooking dinner and just enjoying the peace and quiet and girlfriend conversations!

Best get away ever!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place for my parents to stay after attending our son's wedding at The Vine. My parents loved it and we will definitely go back for a nice get away!

The owner responded very quickly to any of my questions which also provided me with a comfort level with the Farm House.

Best kept secret

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at the 1980 Farm House in New Ulm. It was out of the way, nestled in some woods in a pasture. It was a 30 minute ride to Round Top. We were there for the antiques show and loved the beautiful relaxing ride back to the house each evening. We felt safe and secure. The house was spotless and well equipped. It had everything we needed. Richard went over and above to make sure our stay was perfect!

Wonderful farmhouse away from the hustle bustle of Houston.

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the farmhouse. It is such a peaceful retreat. The owners are thoughtful and take great care of the property. It is immaculate.

The location is close enough to the galleries and shopping in Round Top. On our first trip we spent a lot of time traveling to and from attractions in the area. This trip we brought in groceries, cooked and sat on the porch and/or hammock just relaxing and enjoying each other.

What a wonderful place!

Historic and Serene

  • 5 of 5

Richard is a friendly and excessively helpful and attuned host. He had the house stocked with goodies - coffee, milk, cereal, bath supplies - and was available whenever needed. The house is pristine, quiet and very clean. The surrounding property is wooded, peaceful and has a wonderful remote feel. Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.
