Pool / Spa
location, location, location
Pros-walking distance to lake, clean, lots of room for family, private
Cons-outdated decor, stained carpets, damp/moldy smell
Pots and pans, utensils and plates need updating. Overall a very nice home. Maybe some new bedsheets
Property is older but convenient to activities. Lots of room for folks to spread out. Probably could use some new sheets and pots and pans.
What a wonderful, relaxing stay!
Having stayed here numerous times with friends and family, we have enjoyed the house and it's location to the beach, pool, and spa. We have wonderful days spent cooking in the kitchen, having drinks out on the deck and swimming in the poor or lake. It has so much to offer and can't wait to rent it again soon so we can enjoy the new game room in the downstairs! I would recommend this home to anyone wanting a quiet vacation or looking for a fun place to play with your children. The lake is so beautiful and sitting on the deck is like being in a cozy treehouse.
WONDERFUL HOME FOR GIRLS GETAWAY OR FAMILY!!! Perfect both both!!!!
We LOVED this home, it had been newly painted, new floors and added a rec room, plus all the bed linens were new. We've stayed here before and loved it. You can feel the love in this home. The back deck was our favorite on both stays.the first a Girls Getaway and it was PERFECT!! Altho some updating needed done, so we advised owner and our advice was taken.Yes the home is older, but has been in family, so she needed a little time to renovate. The rooms are nicely decorated, not urban style, but hey it's a country home. Everything you need is in the kitchen, I mean everything.....of course bring food and your Coffee. The refrigerator is full size, even had a blender. The kitchen is fully stocked.
This time there were new floors, updated linens& bedspreads&some new additions to living area with comfy furniture. The view is beautiful and not far from stores! Remember.....you are in the mountains, aka country...oh one of the best new features is the rec room. We loved it down there, brought out our competitiveness. The house was clean, we NEVER SMELLED MILDEW THERE!! We were wanting to go back next week, but it's rented out 😒 Previous reviewer must be extremely sensitive to certain things, Zyrtec maybe for you guys.We had no problems whatsoever. The carpet is clean, fresh paint and doors fixed.(previous reviewer repeated himself on that)Obviously the owner took heed to his review and started renovating certain things. However it was never mentioned how BIG the bathrooms are&if 3 adult women and 3 teenagers didn't have a problem, it is in A-OK shape in our opinion. All girls too! There are always issues no matter where you go We had wi-fi too. Not sure what the complaint was about that, possibly resolved??Personally if I had a problem I would've contacted the owner&let them handle it.Most likely would have gotten resolved a LOT quicker.I had not written a review from last stay until I read previous one"dissing"this lovely 70's-80's home.I felt the need to set the record straight as of 3/12/15 to the improvements that have taken place.Obviously no place is perfect. Another great feature is you have a washer/dryer there for your use. This house is huge!We can't wait to go back.To do new and fun things that Lake Lure has to offer. No worries,it's a fantastic place to stay&enjoy yourselves&the scenery.Beds are comfy too.Kudos to the owner who ACTUALLY listened &corrected any issues of concern.Cell phones work great, wifi on them especially if you have a smart phone?
We went with some friends and had a great time. The home is spacious, clean, comfortable and everything was there that we needed. The area is beautiful, and the resort amenities are fabulous. Would recommend it for anyone.
So, let me start by saying that I have never left a bad review of VRBO.com. I am not a complainer, I usually suck it up and just move on...and I considered doing just so on this rental nightmare, but I owe it to others to let them know my experience with this property.
The property was a huge disappointment for two main reasons.
1. It smelled like mold and mildew. My wife and I both had stuffy noses within minutes of going inside. We had to sleep with the bedroom window open to try and get some relief. In the morning I began to notice the tell tale signs of water damage. Ceilings that were repainted in several areas, water stains on ceilings and walls and the mold that was growing on the outside of the door coming in from the garage. I tried to email the agent that night, but guess what?
2. The WiFi was not working, and Verizon does not get coverage at this house. The email did finally send when we left the house to go out venturing on Saturday morning. I expressed my concerns to the agent (Dutch) about the mold/mildew and the lack of WiFi. He didn't respond to late that night and simply stated that he had no previous concerns about the mold/mildew and that I simply needed to unplug the router for 5 minutes and refresh my phone to get WiFi/service. I tried both, neither worked. I let him know again...
There are other reasons why I would not recommend staying at this house.
These are just personal dislikes, not enough for me to write about if I wasn't already upset about the previous two complaints, so here I go...
This house was probably built in the late 70's or early 80's, and honestly hasn't been touched since. All the appliances, furniture and fixtures are out dated. If you are looking for comfortable furniture to kick back on...keep looking. If you are looking for clean furniture, keep looking.
The pale blue carpet in the bedrooms was absolutely disgusting! Stained and stinky!!! There is no 5 second rule valid on this carpet.
There are double doors going into the master bedroom, they don't lock! Heck, they don't hardly stay closed! No privacy for the adults! The master bathroom has the same double doors and the same issue, they don't lock!
No response from the rental agent a week later!
