About Tony Green
This land has been in our family for 100 years. Our extended family still gathers in Stonington once a year from all over the country and abroad for a large family gathering (including an epic water fight and lobster feed).
Tony Green purchased this Chateau / Country House in 1989
Why Tony Green chose Stonington
Stonington is a very special place. It's unspoiled and full of fun things to do. Great if you're into boats and the water; you can also take great walks, or visit the casinos! Locally there's a bit of a foodie thing happening -- with a handful of farm-to-table restaurants and farm stands everywhere. We love the indoor-outdoor style of living, being able to go barefoot and never locking the car!
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
It's the views, the light, the air, the nature right in front of you, the friendly people. And, if we don't mind saying it, the house is has great style.

This was the perfect size house for our three families totaling 9 people all together!
We loved the privacy, large yard, and spread out living space. Mystic and Stonington are quaint fun towns to explore! The view of the water and boats from the home was beautiful day and night! The only down side was not being walking distance to a beach we could swim from. But there were beaches we could drive to!
Idyllic Coastal Connecticut Home
Tony's home exceeded our expectations. Situated on a hill overlooking Stonington Harbor it was the perfect getaway. The house is thoughtfully decorated, clean and fully stocked with all the amenities one could need. The property is well kept and very peaceful. The host was quick to answer any questions I had throughout the booking process and make recommendations into our stay. Truly a perfect weekend!
Pleasant stay in Stonington
We found this rental to be perfect for our three generation gathering (along with two well-behaved dogs)! The house was very clean and inviting. It was helpful to have the bedding and towels provided, and the kitchen was well-stocked with equipment and basic spices and teas. There was a lovely bouquet of flowers and a bottle of wine to welcome us. We loved the deck, grill and gorgeous view of Stonington Harbor and its nice breezes particularly later in the afternoon. We enjoyed dinner out on the deck every evening since it was in the shade and those "ocean breezes" made it perfect! There were bedroom accommodations on all three floors which made it particularly good for this multi-generational vacation. This is a quiet, secluded location with relatively easy access to the attractions of Mystic and the surrounding area.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed our home.
A Nature and Beach Lovers' Retreat (Visited from July 8 to July 15, 2017)
First of all, Tony, the owner of the Scandinavian House, was very patient and responded quickly to my many questions from the booking process all the way to our departure day. He was patient as well as straight-forward with information, which I appreciated.
My husband, daughter, and I along with our 3 young grandchildren (under 5 years old) stayed throughout the week. Everyone, including our guests, were captivated by the boats and harbor view, which extended over to the Stonington Borough. This view is visible from the house’s deck, kitchen, dining room, living room, and hallway, as well as the upstairs bedrooms. The house is very sunny, in a private location with a huge treed yard to explore…perfect for children. Parking was not a problem since there is plenty of driveway space.
It was exhilarating to wake up in the early morning to the “nature surround sound,” and have coffee on the deck, while taking in the amazing harbor view. Also, we went for long walks along “the point” and witnessed sweeping views of the river and bay.
The house is well-stocked with dinnerware, utensils, towels, bed linens, along with a dishwasher, washer, and dryer. It is clean, in good condition, orderly, and decorated with interesting artwork, books, and antiques, which creates an inspiring atmosphere. Also, the house is unique and open, layout wise, which proved beneficial while watching young children.
We did walk from the house to a small local beach where our grandchildren had fun jumping off the rocks, sloshing around in the water, playing in the sand, and just exploring. Furthermore, the house provided us with a “jumping off point” to explore Mason’s Island, Lord’s Point, Noank, and the Stonington Borough – all within a few minutes’ drive from the house.
The house is convenient by car to stores, beaches, and restaurants. Mystic is a short drive where we spent a few days visiting the Mystic Aquarium, Village, Seaport, and the official downtown area of Mystic (shops, boutiques, restaurants). In the late afternoon, we went to Dubois Beach, at the end of Stonington Borough, a local beach, busy with usual activities as well as a skin diving club and a panoramic view of numerous sailboats gliding across the bay.
In summary, this is an inviting, open contemporary house, offering memorable experiences, pleasant harbor views, in a beautiful area, surrounded by nature. We would certainly love to return. Sharyn F. and Family
The view is worth it all!
The house was amazing. 3 different levels and gorgeous views. There was plenty of sleeping space for 8 adults and our 2 dogs. Fans are provided since there is no air conditioning. Anything we needed was taken care of! We had an issue with the refrigerator and right away the gentleman who takes care of the house came out and took a look at it! What awesome service. We were also greeted with a bottle of red wine and flowers which was super thoughtful! The beds weren't the most comfortable thing (but I do sleep on an orthopedic bed at home due to back issues) but overall my family and I had a great time and would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to stay near the beach and in Connecticut!
not for older people or people with handicaps.
It was a challenge for us who are older. The stairs , we had no problem with. The outdoor deck was a a real joke, no comfortable furniture, flimsy chairs and wood deck. The real problem is the bath/shower in both bathrooms, the bathtubs are so high it was almost impossible for some of us to get in and out. The place is a book repository old and dusty and sometimes very smelly, not somewhere I need to spend a month with. The bedrooms are something you need to figure out before you go there unless you don't mind people walking through your bedroom to go to the bathroom' The kayaks are a nice touch but not an easy to take to the water and almost impossible to bring back.
We enjoyed Stonington but not our V RBO so much.
It is true that our house has s lot of stairs and deep bath tubs. I think the wood deck is quite nice, but our guest is certainly entitled to a different opinion. All in all, I appreciate the issues being raised so that no future tenants are surprised.
