Casa colonial de 300 años de antigüedad

Increíble casa colonial, ubicada a 3 minutos de la I-95, rodeada de árboles y campos. A solo 5 minutos del distrito de Stonington o del centro de Mystic, a 15 minutos del Connecticut College, el Coast Guard Academy, el centro de Westerly, a 20 minutos de Watch Hill, Misquamicut y Ocean Beach. Duerme seis.

Tres habitaciones con tres baños en el segundo piso. El primer piso tiene comedor, cocina comedor, gran sala grande y una biblioteca / sala de juegos separada. We could not have asked for more accommodating hosts, perfect Thanksgiving venue, or home away from home vibe. This family gathering has been on our wish list for some time, and because of Sandra and Jim's flexibility, good nature and overall warm presence, we were able to pull it off. And best 4 night's sleep in years!!

The house has a lot of historic charm and the owners were very friendly and helpful. It is within 30 minutes of a lot of activities, so the location was great. We loved the large country kitchen, and the beds were comfortable. Overall it was a fun stay. It would have been nice to have a tv downstairs to watch some football on a rainy Sunday afternoon, but we managed with an iPad, so not a huge issue.

Picture of property is not accurate. The photo must be quite old. The House was overgrown with weeds. Porch had old cast iron pots on a table by the door - in plastic wrap, dirty chairs. Large POD's container in the driveway made parking cramped. Owner shared the same parking area and their home was on the other side of the driveway. Bathtub had a strong sewer gas smell. I couldn't use it. The sink didn't drain well at all - took several minutes to drain completely leaving soap scum and dirt. Mirror was small makeup mirror attached the wall to the left of the sink. No bathroom or TV on first floor. No heat on first floor. Oven very old and dirty. We didn't feel comfortable using it. Refrigerator leaked water - appeared to be very old commercial stove and fridge. No working TV in our bedroom. Stairs to 2nd level unsafe with low railing that moved as it was used for support. I had to duck as I reached the bottom three steps to avoid hitting my head on the ceiling. Drapes on all the windows were VERY dirty. Upper stairs landing not safe for elderly people. Most windows didn't open. My wife needed help turning the shower on and off in the adjacent bathroom. That tub didn't drain. When your shower was finished you would be standing in 4 to 5 inches of dirty bath water. I had to clean my feet in the sink after I stepped out of the tub. One electrical fixture was just hanging from the ceiling with a bulb in it. Windows were very dirty. Wives were uncomfortable with conditions.
Building Code violation.
Parking was tight because of overgrown plants and storage unit.
Fridge handles had accumulation of food on back side,
Oven door is very dirty.

Historic for sure

So, let me at first say that we had a wonderful stay at this very old interesting home. So many little things to see throughout the house. Books galore, antiques, super huge working fireplace that I wish we could have used. On the other hand it is a very very old house. In desperate need of some basic maintenance. All showers were difficult to use and drains were an issue, all beds were extremely hard, twin we couldn’t use at all due to a foam topper on a box spring (you could feel the boards in the box). Very loose tiles on the kitchen floor were a challenge to try not to break further. A soft floor board going into the dining area that we were afraid one of us would go through and break an ankle. The washing machine had a lot of mold in it and made our clothing smell on our last day. And finally the landscaping was extremely overgrown all around the house. Kids really couldn’t play out in the yard (grass was too long). All that being said we still enjoyed our stay but, I don’t think I would book again without the maintenance and repairs that need to be made.

Historic home

The home itself was an attraction. You can spend hours walking around, looking at the books, antique furniture, and just staring out the amazing farmhouse kitchen in the field with the horses. We spent five days in this home and it felt so comfortable. The proprietors are very kind and helpful with anything you need and I am truly looking forward to going back and staying again.

Serenity in Stonington

Our group consisted of 4 family members between the ages of 50 and 74. We adored the property but we were only able to stay 2 nights due to other commitments. We would have stayed forever! The house is warm and spacious and decorated with lovely antiques that complement the house itself. If one enjoys reading, there is a huge selection of books covering a multitude of interests.the grounds are beautiful. The location is close to the villages of Stonington, Mystic, and Watch Hill. The owners were readily available to answer questions and make our stay seem as if we were among family,

A nice location for large family

The house definitely has a lot of character being an older home. It was a bit chilly, but luckily we found some extra blankets. We did run into a few plumbing issues, like a ceiling leak when the shower was used, but we made do with a few pots to catch the water. The house also had several fireplaces, but we couldn’t get the gas one to work and there was no wood available. On the bright side, we loved visiting the friendly horses out back and enjoyed the quiet location. There was plenty of space for the five of us to play games and relax. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed the charm of the place!

Girls Weekend

We enjoyed our stay here. We love older homes and this one fit the bill. Sandra was attentive to our needs/requests and was a pleasure to speak with. We loved seeing the horses right outside the windows. We would certainly stay here again.

Classic New England Christmas

We were looking to experience a classic New England Christmas like the ones written about in story books. This historic home far exceeded our expectations, right down to huddling by the fireplace to keep warm from the freezing temperatures outside. Respect for those who endured the necessity of five fireplaces to keep the New England winters at bay. We couldn't help but be in the Christmas spirit while surrounded by this home's historic charm. Seriously considering staying here again in the near future.

Charming house, great location

We booked the house for a family trip to celebrate my mom's 65th birthday, looking for enough space for 6 adults and our dogs, in close proximity to Mystic. The house was in a great location, with most of everything we wanted to visit about a 10 minute drive away. The house itself has a ton of charm and history to it. There was more than enough space for all of us and we enjoyed (and appreciated!) using the fireplace as this winter has been especially cold so far.

Relaxing

Lovely historical home near downtown mystic. I love the unique architecture of home with wonderful details and so many old books and antiques. The walk in fireplace in the sitting room was a real highlight of our stay. Easy access to all the shops, restaurants and marina. Our hosts were very accommodating and friendly. Sandra was very kind to return my glasses as I had left them behind. Overall a relaxing few days in the autumn countryside.

Amazing stay in a historic and cozy home!

Stayed here for an anniversary trip to Mystic and this property was everything we dreamed of and more! Cannot overemphasize how much we loved this house. Far enough away from the busy, touristy areas, but still close enough to Mystic and Stonington to easily make it into town. (Also only a short drive from Westerly, RI with great beach options.) We received an amazing tour from the owners upon our arrival, who were wonderfully kind, welcoming, and communicative, and even got to visit the horses and donkeys on property :) We loved exploring the house and taking in all the details, from the library of classics to the homages to previous homeowners. If you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful, and cozy escape that makes you feel like you’re in a movie, I’m sure you’ll love this house as much as we did. (10/10 would recommend sitting outside at night and watching the fireflies!)

Girls trip

It was what you’d expect from a 300 year old house. The property was cool and the owners were friendly. If you are looking for luxury accommodations this is not the place for you but if you want a unique stay it’s nice. There is a sign hanging inside that says they are not required to be up to health code standards. There was mouse poop on the table in the kitchen and on top of one of the bed covers. We weren’t using the table and just cleaned up what we found on the bed without complaining because what do you expect in such an old home. The basement has a dirt floor and it was rainy the weekend we stayed. The first night when we returned from dinner there was a strong musty smell and I woke up with a bad headache and allergy symptoms. The second night was fine as the smell resolved. It smells like an antique store throughout the house as it is itself old and is full of antiques. Definitely not the cleanest rental property I’ve stayed in but it was fine. Nothing to complain about as we signed up to stay in an old home. All this to say is if you have allergies, are a neat freak, or want luxury and are going to complain if you don’t get it stay somewhere else. If you like history and old stuff this is the place for you.

A great place

Perfect location, just far enough away from everything but 10-15 minutes to Mystic and Stonington Point. The property owners are lovely people. The house itself is worthy of a chapter in a book. Very nice former B&B full of character and history. We will stay here again.

Jim is a retired college professor (theatre and communication) with a passion for pipe organs, model trains and antique engines. Sandra is a registered nurse, working full-time in Assisted Living. We have two dogs, Jackie a rescue from Louisville, KY and Jeremy a rescue from Afghanistan. Also sharing our lives with 3 indoor cats, 2 parrots, 2 horses, a Shetland pony and a mini donkey.

One look in August of 2001 and we fell in love! The location is perfect: quiet and rural, lots of trees. Yet we're only 5 minutes from Mystic and Stonington Borough, 10 minutes from Westerly, RI and 20 minutes from Watch Hill and Misquamicut.

Owners are nearby for assistance when needed as we live in the property's guest house, known as "the barn".
