Nestled in a peaceful wooded setting, Tealwood is the perfect vacation home for families or groups. Just 3.5 blocks from Big Powderhorn Mountain’s main ski lodge. Relax in the outdoor hot tub (open from Dec. 1 - April 1) or unwind in the sauna. The home also includes A/C, Wi-Fi, and 2 Smart TVs with Hulu, Disney+, and Peacock. Dogs are welcome to join in the fun at Tealwood.

Our office is right here in the Powderhorn area with on-site maintenance, housekeeping, and reservation staff ready to help. You’ll always have support nearby, and if you’d rather not stop in, we’re also available 24/7 by call, message, or email. Whatever works best for you, we’re here to make your stay as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Nestled in the heart of the Upper Peninsula, the Powderhorn area is a true four-season destination.

In winter, you’re just steps from Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort and a few miles from Snow River for skiing and snowboarding, along with direct access to hundreds of miles of scenic snowmobile trails. When the snow melts, the adventure continues with hiking and biking trails, waterfalls, fishing, and exploring the beauty of the Northwoods.

We are conveniently located just off US-2 and only a few miles from Ironwood Airport, which offers daily flights through Denver Air. Whether you’re arriving by car or by air, our location makes getting here easy and stress-free, putting you close to all the area has to offer.

With 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the main level, the home provides plenty of room to unwind. The upper level features an open kitchen, dining area, cozy living room, and an additional bathroom, all with an inviting, airy layout. A cozy loft with 2 twin beds provides additional sleeping space for guests. The living room is a welcoming space with a classic brick fireplace, comfortable furnishings, and patio doors that open to a private deck, complete with a gas grill—perfect for enjoying the fresh air.

Ski weekend

Half the ski hills were closed due to lack of snow however the chalet provided us with a comfortable place for our family and friends. It had all we needed to stay in and cook and play games. The was room for a pack n play in the bedroom and we were able to include 2 family dogs.

Great place to rest up between ski days

We enjoyed the well appointed kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, sauna, and hot tub for relaxing, and resting after a long days on the ski slopes. Comfortable beds. Not a place for you if stairs are an issue. The house was clean with the exception of quite a bit of dog hair, but there was a vacuum on site and we vacuumed the furniture and carpeting, which improved the situation. Nice that pets are an option! Highly would recommend for your group.

My group had a great time at Tealwood. Reasonable walk to the ski resort in a nice quiet area. Kitchen area was nice for cooking. Parties in group were impressed and spoke highly of the outdoor hot tub. To do better: * Get the resort to restart its shuttle service to the hill. Stopped during covid, should rethink the policy. * Laundry facility would be convenient for a big family over a 4 day stay. * Large trunk in TV room worked as a table for watching TV during meals but was a bit big for adult leg room at other times.

It had great bedroom configuration - one of the bedrooms had a bed and a bunk bed, for example, which is much better than a single bed if you come with kids. It was perfect for our group. A few management requests that we had were addressed in a very timely manner.I only wish that it had a hot tub outside, there is plenty of space for it.

The patio doors had fingerprints on them. The TV above the fireplace had fingerprints on the screen. The bottom patio door is very very difficult to open and cannot lock other than the dowel in the guide that will not allow the door to open from the outside as well as the upper patio door.Other than that it is a very private quiet setting with all amenities.

The highlights of the house were proximity to the slopes, space for everyone to sleep, and the spacious great room where we hung out in the evenings. The two-bed loft was fun for my daughter and her friend. Big smart TV also a plus. The minuses: like nearly all rentals in the area, this place was built in the 50s and hasn't been fully updated. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very small and dated. Water is sulfuric. Kitchen is serviceable but small. Also, is was not very clean - we found many nerf darts and a sports bra from previous occupants. Overall the price is right for a larger group who wants to ski.

Bad communication

Communication was horrid. Office address never given to me. All closet full of junk. Tile on floors peeling up. Dog poop and leaf pulled left on deck that we had to clean. No gas in tank for grill. We supplied it ourselves. I then got late check in because couldn’t get ahold of anyone. The envelope I needed to get and was told to get was nowhere to be found. One bedroom door does not shut.

I contacted the company to ask if I could have a refund and was told no since it was less than 30 days. I asked if I could change my dates of travel to avoid losing my money and was told no. I had to forfeit my trip and lose all of my money and they were totally unwilling to work out a resolution with me.

Found candy wrappers, garbage, and socks from prior guests behind the bed. Had to look for the remote in the couch cushions and found a lot of crumbs and debris in the couch. Drawers in bathroom had trash from prior guests. The fridge or kitchen sink appears to be leaking as well. Found the kitchen rug soaked on four occasions. Dishwasher was broken. Not a huge deal, but would have been nice to get a heads up, especially for the price of the stay.

Precisely What a Ski Cabin Should Be

Two adult double bedrooms, one bunk-room for the boys, the princess loft with two twins for the girls, and three bathrooms gave us all plenty of rest for the activities of the daytime. The kitchen was clean and well-stocked with the right equipment and supplies. The big kitchen table is open to the living area with big, wood-burning fireplace to create a cozy after-ski activity center. One room of note is a generous-sized entry area where we could prepare all of our ski clothes and dress-up for the day. We thought we were out of firewood because it was buried in fresh snow. We called and the maintenance team not only brought a load of wood, but plowed-out the driveway for us. Great people at the association! We will definitely go through the BPLA again when we return to the area. I can't say enough great things about the accommodations and the hospitality. This area is WELL-WORTH the extra drive past Wausau. It is the ultimate step-back-in-time ski getaway that every family needs (but with wifi and a smart TV)!

Tealwood

Overall, the stay at Tealwood provided our family with a much needed UP ski vacation that was once an annual trip of which we had a 3 year hiatus. We planned this trip only 3 months in advance so knew our typical standards would be unlikely met. (We are frequent renters of Bear Necessities which is a ski in/ ski out premier chalet. ) So Tealwood looks like it was made in the 70's and is an A frame with 3 floors which did accommodate 8 of us. The main floor is the living room, kitchen area- tight with all of us hanging out but it was still fun. Kitchen well stocked but little counter space for our food we brought. Refrigerator is regular sized and in good condition. The dishwasher is in poor condition and broke during our stay. Washing dishes was fine but with little counter space they needed to be dried right away. A suggestion would be to free up a cupboard for the renters food besides get a new dishwasher. Bathrooms and bedrooms were clean with proper amount of towels. As the place is old, the carpet and flooring are old and worn. The place allows for pets, which we didn't have and wouldn't choose a place that did if there were other options, and there was dog hair in abundance. I'm not sure if the cleaners need a newer or stronger vacuum cleaner or if the carpet is too worn to be cleaned well. In the bedrooms, a good clean is due as there was a good amount of dust between and behind the furniture. The blankets and curtains are old and dark which if they were updated would bring a fresh look to the place. Response to the management on questions, needs we had was courteous and responsive. All in all, we love BPLA and have a reservation for next year already- at a different chalet tho.

Ski vacation

We enjoyed our time at Tealwood - perfect location for both downhill skiing and getting to Nordic Ski trails in the area. It had plenty of space and amenities and loved the sauna.

Mixed bag

This is a beautiful area and neighborhood to stay in, and enjoy the fall colors, and local waterfalls. Our biggest complaint, that I immediately sent an email about was the dirty unit. They did refund our cleaning fee of $40 and sent over some cleaning products per my request. That being said, I am an experienced traveler and I like attention to detail and response when I message with a question. With this unit being a part of the big Powderhorn Cooperative, I expected more and was disappointed. This unit would be a good place for a large group, who just want to sleep there and don’t care about the extras. Linens were clean. The fireplace was not cleaned and we asked about maintenance on it, but did not hear back, so we missed out on a perk of the place. The electric start grill didn’t start, so we ended up using the stove for burgers. The water tastes bad, but we knew about this from another reviewer, so we were prepared with all of our own water. Overall, we love the setting, but the unit itself is old, smells musty and is in need of updating and a real good cleaning. I did warn the manager, Bernie, that I would be writing a review, so this will not at all be a surprise to them.

The cabin is huge! And so beautiful! Loved it💕

The cabin was absolutely wonderful! It was easy to find, and the WiFi in it was great, especially since the service around the area is spotty due to it being thick woods and up higher. No complaints at all. Spacious, clean, tons of room, 6 people and we all had our own rooms or sleeping space (the loft upstairs). And absolutely beautiful. And a very rare phenomenon... there were little to no bugs! We were shocked, but it was nice! Overall it was wonderful, and we will be back!
