Chalet de esquí Creekside cerca de la montaña Big Powderhorn

Ubicado justo al norte de la autopista US 2 entre Ironwood y Bessemer en Big Snow Country, en la península superior occidental de Michigan, Waldhein es el chalet verde y amarillo en Creekside Trail en Powderhorn Road en su camino hacia el albergue principal de Big Powderhorn Mountain. Nuestro camino sinuoso accede a ambas carreteras, por lo que el estacionamiento es amplio para múltiples vehículos.

Great ski cabin

We were up for a long ski weekend, cozy cabin with a great fireplace. Very close to both Jackson Creek, blackjack and powderhorn. Skied them all, as well as visited the ski flying jump.

Great Spot

The chalet was exactly as described. We found our accommodations perfect for us. We thought we could walk to Lift 1 at Powderhorn, but the road was pretty fast and we didn’t feel comfortable so we did end up driving each day for snowboarding. It was, however, very easy to drive and we still wenback to chalet each lunchtime to eat. We played a lot of games, enjoyed the fireplace, and watched a couple of movies as a family. The kitchen was well stocked and it was easy and nice to make our own meals there. We were in want and/or need of nothing. Thanks! We would absolutely stay here again!

This was an amazing winter wonderland getaway! Such a cozy cabin that fit our family, dogs, and friends perfectly. So close to Big Powderhorn and the owners provided so many essentials, such great hospitality. Beautiful scenery, we can't wait to come back.

Perfect little chalet close to Big Powderhorn with all the amenities! Plenty of room for everyone. Cozy and decorated in vintage ski - chic. Loved cozying up by the fireplace with the whole family after a day on the slopes.

Was a great building unfortunately big powerhorn closed early so we were unable make use of thr proximity but Sean gave us some great alternative options and we were still able to have a great time.

Nice clean place. Could use some better signage at the road. Took a long time to find because there was no address at the road. The house number was difficult to see on the house and a different number was listed at the road. Said 201 rather than 11122

Great stay, but those with allergies be cautious

This is a well maintained, cozy spot. Perfect for our long weekend. The manager was very friendly and left out some nice treats. Only downside was as a person with allergies and it being a pet friendly place I did have some allergy symptoms flare up. It was manageable for me, but could be a problem for others with more serious pet allergies.

Great Location for Exploring with ORV

This was our first time visiting Michigan and riding on the ORV trails. The hosts were very informative and quick to respond with information about the Chalet as well as places nearby that would help us truly experience this area. We were able to check many of the suggestions off our list of things to do but there were a few that we simply ran out of time to explore during the week. The Chalet is in a great location for getting on the ORV trails without the need to trailer them and the pass-through driveway is very handy for parking the trailer. Plenty of towels were provided and the kitchen was stocked with necessities and a bowl filled with a variety of snacks that came in handy throughout the week. Bathrooms with showers on each level were a wonderful aspect that not many places to stay seem to have. Checking in and out was very simple and much appreciated.

Perfect winter getaway in the UP

Thanks for an amazing place to stay. The house is so cozy, comfortable, and the perfect place for our winter weekend. We skied at big Powederhorn and Snow River, so the location was perfect. We also snow shoed the Wolverine Nordic trails, which were just down the road. Thanks for being an excellent host and being dog friendly! We can't wait to come back!!!

Cozy Chalet - Great Location

We had a wonderful time at the Waldhein. Warm, cozy and had everything we needed for our stay. Great location and parking for our family of skiers & snowmobilers. Lots of hooks to hang our gear after a day on the slopes/trails. We had plenty of firewood and loved the fireplace. The beds were comfortable with plenty of clean bedding. We always had hot water with great water pressure and lots of towels. Great communication, exactly as pictured, many nice touches that made our stay very comfortable. So nice that we could bring our dog, he loved it!

Perfect chalet

The house was just perfect. Very clean and welcoming as soon as we walked into the door. Plenty of firewood already in place for us to use. The house was warm and felt just like home. I couldn't ask for any better communication with the owners too. It was the perfect get away and if we decide to visit the area again we will try to rent this home once more. Everything was just perfect for our family get away.

Waldhein Chalet = Winter Fun Base Camp

Waldhein Chalet was a five star experience! We used this property as our skiing base camp over New Years. The owners provide a comfy, cozy, dog friendly chalet in the Big Powderhorn Mountain alpine village. We liked the sleeping capacity in an affordable package with plenty of spare towels and blankets to go around. The pantry, kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. The property is maintained and clean. To be sure…this is a ski chalet. Be prepared for rustic furnishings, quilted bedspreads, and ski bum decor. This was part of the charm for us, but some folks may not get the character if they don’t know what they are getting into. For us it was a memorable stay that we will consider in the future if we head back to Gogebic County, MI.

Fantastic stay in Northwoods!

The chalet was perfect for 6 days of outdoor fun with our family of seven. The cross country ski trails and hiking around the chalet are unmatched - and we've enjoyed downhill skiing in the area for several years. The fireplace was wonderful, and beds were great. We brought an instant pot and cooked all of our meals. Truly a first rate place!

My husband & I enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Waldhein Chalet. The place was comfy, cozy and nicely furnished. We appreciated that we were able to bring our golden retriever with us, and she had so much fun prancing through the snow. It was a perfect weekend getaway and hope to come back again sometime. We’re the new owners of this adorable cabin, using it primarily as our family getaway in the beautiful Northwoods. We’re excited to share our place with vacationers, family and friends!

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Set back in the tree colors of the season, our two level chalet has front decks on the main and upper level and a side deck with charcoal grill.

Ride in/ride out access is usually available for 100 plus miles of ATV fun on WI/MI TRAIL # 2, and we're in close proximity to the 26 Km Wolverine Mountain Bike Trails.

We’re only minutes from Copper Peak and the Black River Harbor on Lake Superior. Be sure to stop and see the waterfalls along the way down Black River Road which is also one of the most scenic fall color byways anywhere.

For the active Spring thru Fall vacationer, there are two public golf courses and boating, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, climbing, and ATV trails.

You may also just sit on the deck and enjoy the scenery, sunshine, fresh mountain air. You may even hear the mountain stream that flows along the property into Powdermill Creek. Grill on the deck or enjoy one of the many Up North bars/restaurants if you want an evening out.

Easy access to recreational trails and Big Powderhorn lifts. Pull your trailer and snowmobiles right on through our double-access driveway and don’t worry about backing up or turning around. During the warmer months, relax on our deck or around our firepit and listen to the creek bubbling in our backyard. Explore more than 200 waterfalls in the area. This is a beautiful place to stay, no matter the season!
