Knotty Pine Interior, Private River Access With Floating Dock & Mountain Views
The 'Eagles Nest River Cabin' towers over a beautiful stretch of the Shenandoah River where the water meanders and swirls over a long stretch of underwater ledges and rocks. The 75' span of private river frontage offers steps and a floating dock for easy access to the river for swimming, wading, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, or just lounging in a chair. The fishing is the best around as the river offers a healthy population of small and large mouth bass. Waterfowl and other birds are abundant (over 50 species documented) and bald eagles are occasionally spotted. There is a public landing and parking at the bridge just up river providing for float trip opportunities down to the property. 2 canoes included at nominal fee for entire visit so that you can either canoe the Shenandoah River or just stretch back in a tube and float your day away.
Sleeping 8 to 10, this newly built cabin is beautiful inside and out representing the quintessential vacation cabin with white knotty pine interior, vaulted ceiling, 2 bedrooms, 2 lofts, a fully equipped kitchen and a huge front porch that overlooks the entire stretch of river. At the base of the steps of the cabin is a charcoal grill, table and chairs for easy outdoor grilling and dining. The spacious side and front yards offer plenty of room for group games such as volleyball, croquet, corn hole and horse shoes. The back of cabin is in view of the historic Norfolk Southern railroad. The freight trains rumble by the cabin without whistle approximately 3 to 5 times per day.
Centrally located just 15 miles from Massanutten Ski & Indoor/Outdoor Water Park Resort and historic Luray featuring Luray Caverns the most popular cave in Eastern America and an internationally acclaimed destination. The Shenandoah National Park is also internationally acclaimed featuring breathtaking views from the Skyline Drive (Swift Run Gap access point only 17 miles) and various distance trail hikes to waterfalls and other natural attractions.
We hope that you will decide to come visit and firsthand experience all that the Shenandoah Valley Region has to offer and while lodging with us at the Eagles Nest River Cabin. Fun is Waiting! Very nice place to stay. Very well maintained. Thanks!
We were very happy with our stay. We would love to go back again
Memories at “Eagles Nest”
We had a wonderful time at “ Eagles Nest”, it was a welcome change with No TV or Internet access plus we had T-Mobile as our cell provider and there was no cell coverage for miles. The kids were forced to come up with ways to keep busy when we were indoors.
We spent our time hiking trails and visiting the caverns at Luray. Did not get a chance to use the Canoes will keep that for our next trip. The first day we were startled by a rumbling noise early in the morning it was a train rumbling by the tracks behind the cabin it sure added to the experience.
James the property owner was easy to work with and we sure look forward to our next visit hopefully during warmer weather.
Amazing little hideaway for a long weekend!
WOW! From the beginning this was a treat! The homeowner was very responsive and helpful before we even arrived! Upon entering the house we were greeted with an Easter basket for my 4-year-old daughter! Needless to say she was sold! The house is adorable and very special! We enjoyed playing in both of the lofts and pretending like we were in a treehouse! My daughter was over the moon and said multiple times that she never wanted to leave! It was a memorable vacation in a beautiful place! I would absolutely recommend this for anyone with kids old enough to climb up the loft stairs. I think the lofts were part of what makes this a very special treat for little ones!
Cozy and fun cabin on the water
Great little getaway for us. The cabin has a unique charm. The two five year olds thought it was really cool. Our intention was to go snow tubing during our stay but the weather wasn’t suitable. I would definitely return in the warmer months to enjoy the outdoor activities.
Everything was perfect! Just as described in the pictures!
This house was perfect for a weekend getaway. The owner was easy to contact. A big plus was being able to take our dog. We would def come back!
New Years Cabin Gateway
The house is great for a long weekend with some friends and an awesome location right near the river. We loved being able to use the fire pit near the house at night and the one by the river during the day. With its close proximity to Luray, we were able to check out the caverns and a local brewery. I would recommend a tv, dvd player and something for music. We played a lot of games but would have loved to watch a movie. Overall our stay was awesome!
