Just across the street from Lake Tomahawk, Black Mountain Pool, Black Mountain Golf Course, and a short walk from the library, shopping & incredible restaurants.
Built in the late 60's, Cherokee House has undergone a complete renovation from top to bottom, including new central heating and cooling. Has nice front yard with lots of trees and privacy, as well as a small deck. Full of light, it has 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a large eat-in kitchen, living room and a den with wood burning fireplace. Has full size washer & dryer (iron & ironing board), fully furnished kitchen, 2 flat screen Smart TV's (Den has cable TV), 2 Blue Ray/DVD players and WiFi. Outside is a large gas grill and patio seating.
The master bedroom has a king size bed (premium mattress & bedding) and flat screen Smart TV with Blue Ray/DVD , the second bedroom has a queen size bed (premium mattress & bedding). The third bedroom has 2 sets of full size bunk beds (premium mattresses & bedding) There are 2 full bathrooms. The living room has 2 large sofas. The den has a sofa, a loveseat, computer armoire, wood burning fireplace & flat screen Smart TV with cable & Blue Ray/DVD.

OCCUPANCY REGULATIONS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! All rental units are subject to occupancy limits, ('OCCUPANCY' INCLUDES TEMPORARY VISITORS, even those NOT staying overnight) that are established either by state fire code regulation, property owner or Association. Guest agrees to abide by that limitation as indicated on the Rental Agreement, and pay any fines issued. Vale Properties, LLC has no authority to circumvent the town and/or state law. Guest further agrees that Vale Properties, LLC has the right to terminate this Agreement before the end of the Rental Period if the limit is exceeded and any such termination will result in a forfeiture of all monies paid on the reservation.
Check in is any time after 2pm unless prior arrangements have been made. If you are planning on arriving after dark please let me know so I can leave the porch light on for you. If you know your approximate arrival time, I can meet you there if you’d like.
Please be sure to pull up into the driveway to the left of the house. This will take you to the front door.
When leaving or going outside, when you close the door it automatically locks). The den door automatically locks as well, so just be aware of this.
When you arrive, if you have any problems or concerns please let me know as soon as possible so I can make it right for you.
There are several books in the house on local hikes & waterfalls. There is also a small black bookshelf in the front living area with books about the area as well as a large binder the Wifi passcode, address of house and lots of other information about the area, including menus and things to do. I try to keep a supply of Asheville maps on hand, as well as brochures and magazines for local businesses.
CHECK-OUT Time is before 10:00am. Please be respectful of our checkout time and vacate rented premises no later than 10:00am, as we have cleaners scheduled for turnover for our next guests.
In order to keep our cleaning fees down, we instill a “Leave it as you found it” policy. Please treat our house as if it were your own. If you make a mess, please clean it up. Before checking out please be sure to strip all used beds and put used linens in the laundry area, take out trash & put away any clean dishes. If cleaners need to spend time doing additional chores additional fees will be charged.
Garbage pick-up is Wednesdays. Please put only bagged garbage in garbage can. Recycling is every other Wednesday. Please see attached schedule. Recycling must be put in green recycling bins. Everything (trash can & recycling bins) must be taken to the road before 8:30am on Wednesday mornings. Please do not put loose garbage in the trash can; be sure all trash is bagged. If cleaners need to spend time cleaning loose items out of the trash can you will be charged a cleaning fee.
NO SMOKING ALLOWED INSIDE. THERE IS AN ASHTRAY IN THE KITCHEN CABINET FOR SMOKING ON THE SIDE PATIO OR FRONT DECK. Smoking in units not designated for that use will result in the forfeit of entire Security Deposit.
PLEASE DO NOT leave ANY fires unattended, whether in the fireplace or outside in the fire pit. Extinguish all fires completely when you are finished enjoying them. Please do not discard ashes in the yard. There is a metal ash bucket to the right of the fireplace. Please discard all ashes in the fire pit outside. Be sure fireplace flu is closed when not in use. Please call (828) 250-6777 x1 before starting ANY outside fires. The recording is updated at 9am every day. You can be fined up to $25,000 for burning on a burn ban day. ONLY BURN HARD WOOD IN FIREPLACE. PLEASE DO NOT BURN PINE FIREWOOD IN THE FIREPLACE, AS IT CAUSES EXCESSIVE SMOKE INDOORS & DAMAGES THE INTERIOR OF THE FIREPLACE. Please be sure the flu is closed when fireplace is not in use.
Please help us conserve energy by turning off lights if they are not being used. Turn off outside lights during the day please. Please leave windows and doors closed if the heat/ air conditioning is running. If you would like the doors and/or windows open, please shut off the heat/air first.
MAINTENANCE: Vale Properties, LLC does not guarantee against mechanical failure of heating, air-conditioners, televisions, DVD's or other appliances. The undersigned agree to report any inoperative equipment to Vale Properties, LLC and we will make every effort to have maintenance done quickly and efficiently. No discounts or refunds will be given for equipment/appliance failure and for routine maintenance. Should a repair person make a call to the Rental Property and find that the equipment is in working order and the problem was due to tenant oversight, the charge for the service call will be billed to the guest, and guest agrees to pay the charge.
Please do not leave food outside, as it attracts bears. Please clean grill when you are finished enjoying it, as the food smell attracts bears and wild animals.
WELL BEHAVED, HOUSE-TRAINED PETS ARE WELCOME WITH A PET DEPOSIT. NO PETS ON FURNITURE OR IN BEDS. PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR PETS! If cleaners need to spend additional time cleaning up after your pets there will be a cleaning fee. ALL PETS NEED TO BE APPROVED BY OWNER BEFORE YOUR RESERVATION IS MADE.
NO WEAPONS OR FIREWORKS ALLOWED (Firearms, bows & arrows, guns, blades, etc) at property.
QUIET TIME: Noise travels easily. Please be respectful and observe a 10:00 pm to 8:00 AM quiet time. Noise violations may result in immediate eviction and forfeiture of all monies prepaid.
HAVE FUN while you are visiting! Go hiking, biking, sightseeing and visit our amazing restaurants, waterfalls, shops, local artists & Farmer’s Market!

This rental home had everything we could possibly need and more! Black Mountain is a quaint town with some neat local artisan shops just minutes from this rental home. Asheville is minutes away and is also full of great things to do and places to visit.
Jackie's home is beautifully decorated and well appointed with everything you need to feel at home away from home. We had seven in our party, and this home was comfortable for all of us. The neighborhood is lovely, as well, and we began each day with a walk around the small neighborhood pond. Lots of games in the house to keep kids and adults occupied for an evening in and beautiful scenic views during our stay.
We will definitely be back. No complaints at all!! Communication with Jackie was prompt and professional, all our questions were answered, and everything was exactly as described in the property profile.
I wouldn't hesitate to rent this house again. CLEAN, several beds to pick from so everyone found a mattress that was comfy to them, convenient to cute town of Black Mountain and close to Asheville. We ate breakfast at the Biscuit restaurant which was only a 2 minute car drive away (our teenagers even loved the food there). We have two dogs and are so thankful that these owners understand how important they are to the family :) One of our dogs makes smelling absolutely everything a hobby, and he wasn't intrigued by anything at all in he house... in other words you would never know that pets are allowed to stay here!! House was well equipped with everything you could think of. Met the owners and they are awesome. We spent one day exploring Asheville and another day hiking Linville Falls and exploring a few other views from the BRP. Lastly, this house is right across from Lake Tomahawk which was a great half mile loop to walk our dogs a couple times a day!
we lived for 3 months in this lovely, very liveable home across the street from the city park. we loved the privacy of the 3 bedrooms, and the walkability to the park and town. Both Jackie and Wally Vale went out of their way to meet our every need. It truly felt as though it were our home.
I have stayed in a couple of places this wonderful lady has to offer and I love each and every one of them. It is always clean and cozy and very close to your own home. Thank so much for what you have to offer, as always we enjoyed it!
This was our first trip to WNC and we weren't sure what to expect but this place in Black Mountain was a perfect introduction to the Asheville area. You're only 15 minutes to all the restaurants and breweries of Asheville but really don't need to go into the city all that much since Black Mountain has a lot to offer itself. Very convenient to Chimney Rock as well.
The rental itself is great - especially with kids. The 3rd bedroom has two bunks sleeping 4 comfortably. The house has all the conveniences needed if you want to stay in as well. Jackie was helpful and friendly. Very recommended.
