About the property

2 bedroom, 2 bath condo, facing the beautiful Caribbean Sea!

Newly renovated and tastefully decorated with tropical island furnishings, Marguerite-a-Villa is a 2-bedroom, 2 bath, beachfront, oceanfront condo with all the amenities of home – but with all the excitement of a tropical getaway!

Nestled in Cowpet West -- a gated community between the St. Thomas Yacht Club and the Ritz Carlton Resort in St. Thomas’ desirable East End -- our condo sits above the private white sand beach of Cowpet Bay amid beautifully maintained grounds, lushly landscaped with tropical flowers.

Unwind on the beach below Marguerite-a-Villa, relaxing on a chaise or in a hammock under the warm tropical sun. Or if you prefer, lounge in the cool shade under one of the gently swaying palm trees. Maybe take a swim in the crystal clear, warm ocean waters, or in the beautifully landscaped pool with its blue-stone waterfall and grotto jacuzzi. Have a bite to eat at our beach-side restaurant while enjoying the cool tropical breezes and stunning, panoramic views. Maybe rent a kayak or snorkel gear at the beach shop and explore the crystalline waters of Cowpet Bay. Then sip a late-day cocktail on our front deck, listening to the softly rolling waves below while you enjoy breathtaking views all the way to St. James Island!

Then in the evening, head into Red Hook village (5 minutes away) to have dinner, or just to walk through town and experience the eclectic vibe of the open-air bars and restaurants and boutique shops -- with so many different personalities – before heading back to your fully air-conditioned condo for a good night’s sleep before your next day’s adventure.

For a more active day, pack a cooler and spend the day beach-hopping to the different beautiful Caribbean beaches within minutes of Marguerite-a-Villa. Or maybe charter a snorkel trip or day sail and explore the waters surrounding St. Thomas and St. John. Or venture further afield to the exotic and beautiful Tortola, or Virgin Gorda, or the party center of the BVI’s, Jost VanDyke -- all within easy access of our Red Hook ferry dock, just 5 minutes away!

Another fabulous day trip is to enjoy a quick, 15 minute ferry trip across Pillsbury Sound to the laid-back but fun-filled St. John to visit one or more of the island’s many pristine, white-sand beaches. As your ferry docks in Cruz Bay, you’ll see St. John’s many vibrant and multi-colored waterfront bars, restaurants, and shopping boutiques. Enjoying Cruz Bay's waterfront happy hours and/or shopping is a relaxing and fun way to end a long day at the beach. Taking a day trip to St. John – or an evening, happy-hour, or dinner excursion trip there, is a always a memorable way to spend a day or two (and some evenings!) while visiting Marguerite-a-Villa!

Also on St. Thomas are many opportunities for snuba, kite-boarding, para-sailing, surfing, and all kinds of water-sports. In addition, St. Thomas offers many eco-tour adventures both above and below sea level; zip-lining; an ice palace, and a championship, par-70, 18-hole golf course golf course replete with cliff-side tee boxes and tropical forests and pools that overlook the Caribbean Sea!

Enjoy shopping? Spend a morning or afternoon in the expansive, outdoor Havensight Mall at the cruise ship docks. Or venture a bit further down the road to downtown Charlotte Amalie where you will find upscale shops lining the waterfront and the charming, narrow passage-ways of Charlotte Amalie. These shops offer duty-free bargains on the finest names in jewelry, watches, cameras, crystal, china, clothing, and more.

In a gated community on the sought-after East End of the island, Marguerite-a-Villa is comfortably spacious for two couples or for a family of 6.

We have two, en-suite bedrooms. The Master Bedroom – decorated in gold tones and tropical colonial wood – has a plush king-size bed and sliding glass doors to breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and Little St. James Island. Our Garden Bedroom -- decorated in soft greens and corals with white wicker -- has a queen bed and a trundle bed perfect for 2 children.

Marguerite-a-Villa’s attractive living and dining area has a wall of sliding glass doors with stunning views across the sapphire waters of Cowpet Bay. Our galley kitchen offers all the amenities of home. Should you decide you’d like a quiet evening in, there’s a charming market in Red Hook to buy your basic or gourmet food items, and we have a well-appointed kitchen for your culinary needs.

In addition to our indoor dining table that can seat six, our oceanfront lanai provides an open-air covered gallery and a bistro set for intimate, al fresco dining for two.

Other amenities: Central air-conditioning; ceiling fans; cable, high-definition TV (three flat-screen televisions: one 50’ in living room, and a 36’ in each of the 2 bedrooms); free Wifi; gas grill; washer and dryer; automatic stand-by generator; Ipod music system; beach towels. All sheets, linens, and bath towels are provided.

As our guests at Marguerite-a-Villa, you will enjoy all the membership privileges of the on-site Elysian Beach Resort: fitness center; tennis courts, swimming pool, hot tub, and a beach shop that rents kayaks, sailboards, sailboats, paddle boats and snorkeling equipment. Our property has two beachfront restaurants and a pool bar on-site that all offer spectacular views of Cowpet Bay. Sangria's Beach Cafe is casual and open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition to a variety of tropical cocktails, soft drinks, beer and wine, Sangria’s offers fresh salads, wood-fired pizzas, and a tempting assortment of sandwiches, wraps, and burgers (including a garbanzo bean burger – delicious!) (happy hour 3-5). The Caribbean Fish Market is more upscale with excellent fine dining choices for all palates (happy hour 5-7). Or take a 5 minute stroll “over the hill” to the elegant Ritz for more dining choices – all with beautiful views as well. Marguerite-a-Villa has many more dining recommendations – all in our welcome book!

From our condo, you will be just minutes from beautiful beaches, duty-free shopping, multiple other islands (British Virgin Islands and U.S. Virgin Islands), and all the exciting adventures available in this tropical destination!

Come to Marguerite-a-Villa for the adventure of a lifetime!

About Marguerite Hefferon

Marguerite and George are professionals living in the New York metro area who have been vacationing in the Virgin Islands since 1994. Our entire family, including our three children and our extended family, all love the islands -- and our eldest son was even married here in 2009!

Marguerite Hefferon purchased this condo in 2014

Why Marguerite Hefferon chose Estate Nazareth

While we have vacationed on many Caribbean islands, we always found ourselves returning here to the Virgin Islands. We fell in love with Cowpet Bay about 4 years ago because it had everything we wanted in a Caribbean vacation: Cowpet has an uncrowded, white sand, beautifully palm-fringed beach where we could relax in the Caribbean quiet and have privacy. Yet within minutes of Cowpet is a vibrant little town and and all kinds of exciting activities and adventures. Cowpet has one of the best beaches on the island, has beautifully landscaped grounds, wonderful cooling breezes, and spectacular views of the Caribbean!

We love waking up to the stunning views out to St. James Island, while sipping coffee on the lanai watching the little boats dock next door at the Yacht Club. Some mornings we stroll down to the quiet beach and flop on beach chairs with our coffee and books while we decide what adventure we'd like to plan for the day.

We also love the convenience of Cowpet Bay's location just minutes to a variety of other beautiful beaches, and 5 minutes to Red Hook with its varied collection of bars and restaurants, and a ferry dock that can take us to so many different islands and so many different adventures -- all at our fingertips.

If you are the kind of person who might decide while you are swimming at 4:00 that you'd like to grab a quick shower and hop the 5:00 ferry to St. John for happy hour along the waterfront, then this is the place for you! Or if you're the kind of person who likes to stay on the beach til it's dark, then cook a quiet meal when the sun goes down, this is still the place for you! And that's what we love about our condo -- it offers a wonderful mix of serene quiet, tropical beauty, or a party atmosphere -- depending on your mood and personality!

What makes this condo unique

Everything you could possibly need is right on-site! The white sand beach is just steps away from the front door. 2 restaurants, 3 bars, a beautiful pool, water sports, tennis, fitness center -- all just a stroll down the beach. And views of the blue, blue Caribbean that go on forever!

Thank you for all of the updates and trying to have this work out. We will be using your property in the future for vacations. You are someone who we feel always has the customers best interests at heart. That means a lot to us and we look forward to trying again. Probably not during hurricane season though. Thanks again.

Amazing condo on beautiful St Thomas

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from an incredible trip to St Thomas. The condo was beautiful. Clean, spacious, well stocked and beautifully decorated. Brittany (house manager) greeted us and showed us around. A welcome basket with snacks and local rum was a major bonus! We slept peacefully, with the doors open so we could hear the crashing waves below each night. We watched the sunrise each morning with our breakfast and coffee. The owners have done an incredible job with recommendations for restaurants, grocery stores, ferry information and of course the beautiful beaches. We did it all! We can’t wait to come back next year. We travelled with our two daughters ages 9 and 11 and it was our favorite family trip yet. They said it was even more fun than Disney!

Beautiful place, stunning water and beaches and amazing owners

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our 2 boys and Marguerite was wonderful with communication, ideas and helping us plan even with the hurricane damage to the island in the best way possible. The condo is beautiful and the location is great. Thanks for a wonderful family vacation given what you could control. We hope to go back when everything is back up and running entirely!

A wonderful stay - Beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

4 adults stayed for an extended MLK weekend. Condo and property were spotless. The condo was beautifully decorated and well appointed with every possible kitchen item needed. The property was well stocked with plenty of paper products, soap and cooking basics (oil, salt. etc). The property manager and owners were also a delight to work with.

The view from the condo is breathtaking! You will be amazed at the sunrises and sunsets as you enjoy your coffee or an end of day cocktail.

Beds were very comfortable and the sheets and towels were fresh.

If you just feel like staying local, Cowpet Beach is literally an easy 3 minute walk down the stairs. If you feel like going out to another beach, Lindquist, Sapphire and Redhook are very easy short drives. Restaurants and stores are also a quick drive down the road.

I would highly recommend this location. You will be very comfortable and very pleased with your choice. We hope to be back ;-)

Impressive!! Don’t pass up the opportunity!

  • 5 of 5

For the last 7 nights, we fell asleep to the sound of gentle water on the coastline and woke up to incredible sunrises from bed. With the island rebuilding from 2x Cat 5 hurricanes, we had an incredible and unique opportunity to see mankind at its finest. IE coming together as a community to unify behind VI Strong and help one another back on their feet. We rang in the New Year with locals and couldn’t have had more fun if we tried. Marguerite, and her Property Mgr Brittany, couldn’t have been more professional or helpful. They clearly love the property. It is well maintained, looked after and had every amenity of home. Food Center had all the right foodstuff items and at a more cost effective rate to Moe’s. Red Hook was a lot of fun, has a lot to offer and open but the Caribbean Fish Market was our favorite spot. We visited every major beach on STT but would leave early to return to Cowpet’s seclusion and loveliness. Thanks for a great week!! We’ll return for sure.

We're thrilled that you got to share our little piece of paradise. Enjoy all the wonderful memories you made here, and we hope to see you back again! Best, Marguerite

Take your money elsewhere!

  • 1 of 5

They misleading advertised for 6 people but it is actually 4 adults and 2 children MAX. There were only 4 pool passes.

While it is true that the unit was recently renovated with new hardwood floors and new furniture, the AC was vibrating so loudly that the noise woke us up at night. It sounded like a helicopter taking off.

We complained about the AC as soon as we arrived and the property manager apologized and informed us that the unit was going to replaced. (Not much good for us). We asked for compensation for the noise and the sleep deprivation and the owner suggested that we find another place to stay and she’d refund us for the days we weren’t there. Nightmare. As if we were going to search for a new place on while we were on vacation.

This unit shouldn’t have been rented until the AC is fixed.

They lack basic Supplies. The unit had a dirty Sponge and was very low on basics such as dish soap, dish washer soap, paper towels, toilet paper (1 roll on the wall and 1under the sink) and we ran out of garbage bags. The toilets were dirty and the bed sheets smelled.

We asked for additional supplies and were told that they only get us started. They acquiesced and brought us toilet paper, paper towels and dishwasher soap.

The Wifi was good but there is no regular TV just Netflix. The main TV had a parental block on it and I asked the property manager for the code but there was no response. I had to use my account.

There is currently no garbage pickup at the condo and the owners haven’t done anything to take care of the problem. Their expectation is that the renter is responsibility to load the garbage in their car and drive it 2 mile away to the dump. (Not sure what you’d do without a car)

The Attitude

The property manager was of no help. She simply didn’t anticipate any of our needs nor was she helpful we asked for assistance. We provided our incoming flight information. We landed on time, picked up our car and got the condo within 2 hours of landing. The property manager couldn’t meet us at the condo so she left the keys by the door. Even more disturbing was the property owner indicating that it was our fault that we didn't meet with the property manager. Simply a bold-faced lie. Brittany never tried to reschedule a meeting and the owner was not friendly or empathetic.

Bottom Line

There are many places in the area that are at the same or lower cost that can truly accommodate 6 adults.

Owner's Response: In three years of ownership we never have had such difficult guests. Please read our reviews below, many of which praise our beautiful property; remark on our condo as being spotlessly clean, comfortable and well-stocked; and praise my and my property manager’s professionalism. From the beginning when this guest booked 5 adults into what we describe on our VRBO listing as a 2 br, 4 adult MAX and 2 children condo, and then her not answering texts and calls from Brittany our property manager to arrange check-in, their stay with us was wrought with unfounded complaints and demands for money from me to “fix” their unhappiness. It was a bizarre experience, unlike anything we have ever experienced with past guests. • I contacted the guest 3 times when she first booked to explain that we do NOT accept more than 4 adults as we are a 2 br condo. She finally responded that the other “adults” in her party were her teenage children, so 2 brs was fine. (Oddly, she mentions 6 people in her review which would be a misrepresentation on her part and violation of the lease). • We don’t use, and no one collects passes at the pool. We use a key for entry. • Our property manager was never allowed entrance to our condo once the guests arrived, so the ability to adjust the AC handler (which does vibrate and is waiting for repair) or check on the amount of paper goods, etc. was not an option available to us. • We stock supplies including a new sponge for each guest, multiple rolls of papers towels, toilet paper, facial tissue, hand soap, dish soap, bath soap, makeup pads, Q-tips. There was a box of 500 garbage bags in one of the kitchen cabinets. • The condo was thoroughly cleaned the day before the guest’s arrival -- including all toilets -- and all bedding and towels were washed. By the morning after their arrival, these guests were making accusations about my property manager and condition of the condo and demanding money from me. The situation was so uncomfortable that I told them I would happily refund their money so they could find accommodations more to their liking elsewhere. (It was slow season during their stay, so there were many other options available.) I cannot say that I really understand how or why this awful situation evolved. I am just so thankful that I’ve had a great relationships with all of our wonderful guests in the past, many of whom continue to stay in touch and return each year because of our location, comfort, and attention to detail.

Best family getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 has not been on a family vacation since 2009. This was the best vacation we could have asked for! The condo was immaculate! The view was stunning! We cooked three times and the owners had every cooking pot, pan, and utensil we could have needed. This was truly the best vacation ever!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the enthusiastic review! We are so glad you enjoyed your family vacation in our little piece of paradise! We try hard to make sure all the conveniences of home are available for our guests during their stay with us, so thank you for noticing those little touches! And I will pass along your comment about the condo being "immaculate" to our housekeeper -- she takes great pride in the condos she caretakes and she will be thrilled ;) Thanks again for taking the time to write and we do hope to see you again next year!! ~Marguerite
