The Neighborhood

Getting around

Take the PATH which operates 24/7 to Manhattan, Hoboken or Newark; there is Ferry Service only to the World Trade Center and no PATH service to the WTC on weekends in 2014 due to rehabilitation work following Hurricane Sandy.

Newark is the most convenient airport, followed by JFK. Mass transit is most cost efficient when traveling to and from airports. Taxis are convenient when traveling with heavy luggage and/or children and can be expensive.

From Newark Airport (11 miles): take the Airtrain to Newark Penn. From Newark Penn, take the PATH to Grove Street.

From JFK Airport: take the Airtrain to Jamaica Station, then take the Long Island railroad to NY Penn Station, exit the station and walk east to the PATH station at 33rd street and 6th avenue, take the PATH train to Grove Street.

From LaGuardia Airport: take combination bus/subway or taxi to the PATH station at 33rd street/6th avenue.

About Viktoria

I like to provide a welcoming environment to travelers from abroad and within. In addition to standards of clean bedding, towels, and bathroom essentials including shampoos and soaps, there is an underlying theme dedicated to our global environment. There are original artworks about the environment by local artisans, an eclectic and minimalistic interior design, fresh flowers, and consumer friendly utilities.

Why Viktoria chose Jersey City

Super quick 15 minute access to Manhattan. Compared to Manhattan and her boroughs, guests appreciate the better rates, quiet streets, more space, and a break from the tourist environment.

What makes this apartment unique

This is an historic dwelling with plenty of charm and warmth. The brownstone brick building was built in 1825 and has a rich blend of contemporary upgrades and old world character.

This Property Stinks!

  • 1 of 5

We were greeted upon opening the door with an unbearable rotting stench. We contacted the owner who assured us that it was only a "smell" in the entryway. Unfortunately, after several trips in and out of the house, the odor had wafted into the house, and there was no escaping it. The smell is coming from some sort of rotting under the stairs going to the upstairs part of the house, most likely a dead animal. The owner has tried to cover it up with glade scent throughout the apartment, but it only masks it. After several hours, it was simply too much for us, and we had to move to a hotel as my wife was feeling nauseous, and my son was coughing. This property is a health risk. The owner would not refund our money. Do not stay here. It is a health risk.

Owner's Response: Visit previous reviews for an accurate depiction of guest experiences. There was humidity in the entrance hallway on this hot June day. Had the guest arrived earlier than 11pm, it would have quickly been resolved by a dehumidifier which took away the humid environment within a few moments the following morning. There was nothing more to correct and unfortunately a wonderful guest lost out on a lovely visit. Hosting is a pleasure with the ultimate goal to provide the best possible experience in my home. Please immediately report any repair or issue and allow time and opportunity to correct.

Large Family Visits NYC

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I along with our six kids and grandma stayed at this property. It is located in a great neighborhood within an 8 minute walk to the Grove St PATH. Which means you can be in NYC in 15 to 20 minutes. Also the Grove St area is a great place to be as well, with restaurants, bars, Walgreens, and when we were there it included a farmers market and live music. Viktoria was easy to get a hold of, she was proactive in trying to take care of our needs. Check in and out was easy.

The property is small and yet everyone had a bed. And we didn't mind it being small because we were there to see NYC not an apartment. Plus the price of this rental is great. Would certainly stay here again.

Parking is tough (but not the fault of the property or manager). Had to park in a garage about 12 minute walk away (cost $92 for 3 nights) but I guess that is big city living :).

Would suggest Brownstone Diner, it is only a 12 minute walk away and it appeared on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. AWESOME food.

Jersey City Escape from the Hustle and Bustle of NYC

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is lovely, quaint, and roomy inside. The sofa bed, surprisingly, was very comfy. The rental unit is also in a good, convenient, and safe location. Although we never met Vikki, she was gracious over the phone. On the downside, because of the configuration of the bathtub area, the shower curtain doesn't cover the entire tub. Therefore, the bathroom floor gets wet after a shower. However, the hot water for showering was plentiful! Furthermore, although I understand the need for house rules to maintain the cleanliness of the unit, I thought there were too many of them and some were rather strict. I was constantly cleaning in the apartment in order to comply with the house rules, which didn't make for a very relaxing vacation. Isn't that what the cleaning fee is for?

Perfect for Eight

  • 5 of 5

The place may look small, but it actually fits eight people. Viktoria even prepared a futon bed that my group did not even use, because the beds and sofa beds are enough for us to share. Viktoria is also kind and very considerate with my group by extending our checkout time. She always replies to my emails and always ready to offer help. I think the only challenge for a large group like us is to schedule the use of washroom, but other than that, everything turned out the way we planned.

The perfect Jersey City getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was my second stay here -- that's how much I love this place! Only a short walk to the light rail and PATH stations, and right in the middle of a nice, quiet, safe neighborhood. The place is incredibly roomy and could easily sleep 8. The amenities are great -- plenty of toiletries, a hairdryer, hangers, towels, the works. The hostess is friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

My stay at Viktoria's property was nothing short of wonderful. The place is clean very well decorated and comfortable to stay in. Viktoria is very quick to reply for any needs regarding the stay and is genuinely very nice. I would recommended this place and would return for a stay if I'm visiting the area.
