About Sarah & Weston Minter

This lake house has brought us so many wonderful memories and we want to share that experience with others. Like most Charlestonians, we love the water! We stumbled upon this home in 2009 in our search for a lake front property. The house was very outdated, but we saw its potential and over the years have turned it into the modern oasis it is today.

Sarah & Weston Minter purchased this house in 2009

Why Sarah & Weston Minter chose Moncks Corner

Moncks Corner is about 30 miles from downtown Charleston. We wanted a home that was far enough away that it felt like a vacation, but close enough that we didn't have to travel far to take advantage. The name you ask? “The Cove” was the name for the spot our friends and family would meet while boating. It just so happens this spot is just outside of our canal. It’s a great place to anchor and pull out the floats. The water is shallow and the bottom is sandy.

What makes this house unique

The Cove sits on a canal just feet away from the open lake. Centrally located, you can travel to the upper lake or go down through the locks, which allows you to travel from the lake into the Cooper River (very cool experience). The boat launch is private and right outside your back door. Both the front and back offer a full covered porch, which makes for a great place to sip on a cocktail and watch the sunset. The interior has been updated and offers a spacious kitchen, dining, and family room for larger gatherings. The other thing we love about The Cove, is it’s far enough away that it’s relaxing and feels like a vacation, but also close enough that you can go into Charleston to enjoy all that the Holy City has to offer.

Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

House was very nice, plenty of room. A little echoey. Internet connection not so good. TV setup did not work most of the time. Dock slip non-usable, too shallow and located on the wrong side of the property No access with truck and boat. Needs a few things fixed, hammock, upstairs toilet( leaks into garage ceiling), some floor trim pieces missing. Other than that, very nice, relaxing and close enough to town if needed. I would stay there again maybe a little longer the next time. Being able to do laundry if needed was great.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and feedback. We added a Firestick to the living room television to allow guests more options for shows and movies, unfortunately, many people had a hard time using it, so we've replaced that with normal cable. I'd have to disagree with you in regards to the boat landing. We have a 21ft center console and pull it in and out of that landing often. Many of our guests have enjoyed the landing as well. That's the huge appeal to this home. When the lake level is low, it can be difficult to get larger boats in and out, but there is a public landing in the neighborhood that can be used if that is an issue. We are so pleased you that would return and we area always working on improving our guests stay. Thanks again!

Just Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

We just loved our week at the lake!! Your house was great!! It was the perfect spot on the lake. We left the boat at your dock all week without worrying about a storm! The house was very clean! The backyard was peaceful and quiet and filled with beautiful wild life. We were greeted with the most amazing welcome basket!! Everything was just perfect! We look forward to coming back to The Cove every year!!

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at "the Cove". Our grown children came with our grandson, and we celebrated his first birthday there. It was a great family time, the house had everything we needed. Well equipped and clean, nicely decorated, very aesthetically pleasing. There is a big tv in the family room and twice our family all sat together to watch a movie in the evening. My husband and sons like to come to the lake to catfish every year. They were able to fish the first two evenings & nights and caught a lot, enough to fill a 120 qt. cooler twice. The third day it started to rain, but thats okay, we still have plenty of fish to put in the freezer. Having the boat ramp and dock was awesome and convenient, made it so easy to be able to tie the boat up and go out any time, without having to trailer it every time it was used. We saw the baby alligators quite a bit, and on the last day after everyone left, the mama gator came up near the boat ramp, but we only saw her eyes. A large crane also came up close to the house after everything was quiet. The huge oak tree in the yard is beautiful, and nice for shade. We spread a blanket and the baby played out there under it for a while and on Sunday we took a family picture there after church. The neighbors were very friendly too, we spoke with the ones on both sides at different times. Really enjoyed our stay and appreciative to the Minters for letting us use it.

The best!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our accommodations. There was plenty of room for everyone. We spent a great deal of time on the screened-in-porch. The breeze in the evening accompanied by the music of the lake critters was great. I would like to comeback. It was the best!
