About Sarah & Weston Minter
This lake house has brought us so many wonderful memories and we want to share that experience with others. Like most Charlestonians, we love the water! We stumbled upon this home in 2009 in our search for a lake front property. The house was very outdated, but we saw its potential and over the years have turned it into the modern oasis it is today.
Sarah & Weston Minter purchased this House in 2009
Why Sarah & Weston Minter chose Moncks Corner
Moncks Corner is about 30 miles from downtown Charleston. We wanted a home that was far enough away that it felt like a vacation, but close enough that we didn't have to travel far to take advantage. The name you ask? “The Cove” was the name for the spot our friends and family would meet while boating. It just so happens this spot is just outside of our canal. It’s a great place to anchor and pull out the floats. The water is shallow and the bottom is sandy.
What makes this House unique
The Cove sits on a canal just feet away from the open lake. Centrally located, you can travel to the upper lake or go down through the locks, which allows you to travel from the lake into the Cooper River (very cool experience). The boat launch is private and right outside your back door. Both the front and back offer a full covered porch, which makes for a great place to sip on a cocktail and watch the sunset. The interior has been updated and offers a spacious kitchen, dining, and family room for larger gatherings. The other thing we love about The Cove, is it’s far enough away that it’s relaxing and feels like a vacation, but also close enough that you can go into Charleston to enjoy all that the Holy City has to offer.

This home is a really nice place to stay especially if you have a large group. We had 3 adults and 4 college age children traveling for a wedding in a nearby town . The accomidations were perfect for us. The home was spotless and very comfortable. We were close to Charlston .Maybe next time.
Quiet, on the water with a screened back porch.
The house was lovely. The rooms are comfortable. We rented because there was a family wedding in town. The upstairs bathroom had no door, making it very inconvenient for the three guests occupying the adjoining room to use. The owners are prompt in their responses, but the house has a still working on it feel with all of the renovation supplies in the closets. I would rent again, as long a the door problem got addressed.
Thank you for your feedback. We are always trying to improve things to provide a clean, updated home for our guests. Our apologies for the paint cans in the closet. We planned to have the interior of the home re-painted between bookings.
Great Vacation Get Away!
This was a great place to just ... relax. We checked in and were immediately blown away by how it seemed to have anything you might need to relax. Plenty of rocking chairs on the front porch and back, a hammock and tree swing in the back yard, cozy and comfortable furniture on the inside. We spent most of our days on the lake, so the boat access made it easy to go out when we wanted. At the end of the day when we were back inside, we chose to cook our own meals. There were a large amount of service items for making breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was very little lacking in this department. We then settled down at the large dining room table for a game of monopoly. We had plenty of room. Finally when the day came to an end, we were able to settle down for quiet, comfort sleeping in great bedroom areas.
It just seemed like a home away from home. I would highly recommend this lake home to anyone looking to getaway without being too far away from civilization. Thank You from the Ivey Family.
Thank you so much! We're so glad you had such a wonderful time and look forward to having you back again in the future.
It was a beautiful location, a clean and well outfitted home, and a perfect launching and mooring
We loved the location of the home and its proximity to town was very convenient.
Our primary purpose was to be able to fish. My husband was able to launch and moor his boat right there on property!
We were also able to easily get to Charleston and Folly Beach, as well as other activities beyond that of rhe lake.
It was clean, well appointed, and in a safe neghborhood and I hope to be able to return one day
Thanks for the great feedback! That is one of the things we love about this home, the ease of getting your boat in and out of the water. Thank you again for booking with us.
Great place with a great location
Nice clean cottage, easy, short access to the lake with a boat and not far from anything. I would diffently recommend this and would stay here again.
Love to hear that. We look forward to having you back again in the future!
A great get away place!
We were impressed with the homeowners special touches. You felt very welcomed! Though it rained for most of our stay we ventured to Mepkin Abbey and to MCClellanville, both short drives away. We also went fishing on our sunny day in the Cooper River. The boat ramp in the backyard was too shallow for our boat, but there were plenty of public boat ramps available. There was a tiny alligator in the canal behind the house. He was fun to watch from the dock! Don’t hesitate to rent this gem! We will be back.
Cypress Gardens, Mepkin Abbey, and Santee Canal State Park, are all located in Moncks Corner and just 5-10 minutes away. There’s also a grocery store and gas station just down the road. If you want to venture out further, head downtown Charleston, just a 45 minute drive, and take advantage of everything this historic and charming city has to offer. Beaches are less than an hour away.
