THE BEACH at The FIESTA AMERICANA GRAND is one of the few beaches where YOU CAN ACTUALLY SWIM in the ocean. There are NO rip currents here! As beautiful as all the beaches on the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean are, it is not safe to swim and snorkel at many of the resort beaches. Here at the Fiesta Americana resort there are beautiful tide pools where it is totally safe to snorkel and view undersea life! The ounly exception would be if there is a storm out at sea generating large swells. Then, if the waves are too large, it is not safe to swim or snorkel. But, then you can easily go to two beautiful beaches that are in sheltered bays where you can still swim and snorkel. They are both only minutes away by car in the same direction, along Highway 1, (the main highway). There are signs on the highway making it easy to find them, PLAYA SANTA MARIA and CHILENO BAY. 'Playa' is the Spanish word for 'beach'. If the waves at Fiesta Americana are large be sure to go to the hot tub (pictured in the photo gallery) and hang over the ledge looking out over the ocean. Watching the waves crashing on the rocks below is a wonderous sight to behold! The spray can go as high as ten feet in the air and you can witness the power of the ocean, at a safe distance, of course!
All of the units at FIESTA AMERICANA GRAND have spectacular ocean views. Some of the units are in a building called Phase 1. Phase 1 is so close to the ocean that when you are inside your unit you can hear the waves crashing on the rocks right below your balcony! I always request a unit in Phase 1 because I love being as close to the ocean as possible. And if you request a unit in Phase 1 you could possibly experience sitting on your balcony being mesmerized by the waves crashing onto the rocks right below your balcony!
Explore the beautifully landscaped resort grounds to see the many delightful settings inviting you to indulge your desires. Swim in one of three large swimming pools or in the Sea of Cortez. Lounge under a palapa on the beach. Relax in a swinging hammock. Eat and drink in a variety of restaurants and bars. All are just a few minutes stroll within the luscious tropical resort grounds.
The unit at this resort is perfect for two couples traveling together who still want to maintain a certain level of independence, or for a family of four. Everyone will have their own bed and plenty of room for all their belongings. With two full bathrooms and an additional half bath there is plenty of privacy for everyone, too!
The beds and bedding are very comfortable. And everything is very clean! Housekeeping cleans the unit every day. The towels and linens are laundered every day. If you need anything just ask, they want you to be happy and have a good vacation, they will do their best to accomodate your every need, within reason.
If you don't want to rent a car, you CAN spend your entire vacation at the resort and eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at the resort's restaraunts every day. The resort has several restaurants and bars, all of them serve excellent food and drinks. Be sure to eat dinner at the enchanting Peninsula Restaurant, right on the beach, at least once! There are servers that will be happy to bring refreshments and meals to you on the beach and poolside. Room service is also available 24/7.
Based on my personal experience in the last ten years, the staff are super friendly and eager to please! They have a desire to make sure your vacation is enjoyable and they will bend over backwards to make sure you are happy!
The resort is located on a beach that is not accessible to vendors, which means that it feels like you are on a 'private' beach. You can swim and snorkel most of the time. The only time it is not safe to swim at the resort's beach is when there is a storm out at sea creating large swells which come crashing onto the beach as large waves. Then it is not safe to swim, but it IS the perfect time to witness the awesome power of the ocean from a safe distance, as in from the ledge in the hot tub (pictured in the photo gallery) or from your private balcony if your unit is in Phase 1, the building built right on the rocks. Watching the waves crashing on the rocks below is a wonderous sight to behold! The spray can go as high as ten feet in the air!
If you do rent a car, there is ample free parking for your rental car in a covered garage.
My name is Ina Vleeshouwer and I fell I love with Cabo on Valentine's Day 2002. I have been a member of the Fiesta Americana Vacation Club since November 2004. I have spent my annual vacations in Cabo every year since then.
Ina Vleeshouwer purchased this hotel in 2004
In 2002 I began coming to Cabo every year because I love sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming and surfing. Cabo is perfect for all of that and more. For example, it is considered the deep sea fishing capital of the world. When I came to a presentation at the Fiesta Americana in November 2004 I knew I had found my 'home' and I have been coming here every year since. I had been looking for a place where I could turn off the air-conditioner and open the doors wide so that I could listen to the ocean. I found it the day I came to the Fiesta Americana. At that time there were only two buildings, one of which was built right on the rocks where the waves crash with all their majesty. It is called Phase 1 and I always stay in Phase 1 so that I can sit and be mesmerized by the waves crashing below. In order to do that, I book my room a year in advance every year and put in a request for a unit in Phase 1. It is never guaranteed at the time of booking, but they have never failed to put me in one of my two favorite units in ten years! If it is important for you to be in an ocean front unit, it is important that you book it far enough in advance to be able to put in a request for Phase 1. The time of the year is also a factor in whether a Phase 1 unit will be available upon your check-in. Chances are best anytime except through the Christmas-New Year season. If being at a beautifully landscaped resort with spectacular ocean views from your unit, a great swimming beach, three beautiful pools, great restaurants and bars, a great spa and fitness center, a wonderful staff, and being centrally located to the rest of Baja is enough for you without having to hear the waves crash on the rocks right below your unit, then this is the place for you regardless of how much time in advance you can book it. It is perfect for two couples who want to travel together but still have their independence, or for a family of four who want to have plenty of space for everyone to be comfortable.
The BEACH at THIS RESORT is one of the few beaches where YOU CAN ACTUALLY SWIM in the ocean. There are NO rip currents here! Although all of the beaches on the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean are beautiful, it is not safe to swim and snorkel at many of the resort beaches. The beach at the Fiesta Americana resort is unique in that you CAN swim. You can also snorkel in beautiful tide pools where it is totally safe to snorkel and view undersea life! The only exception would be if there is a storm out at sea generating large swells. Then, if the waves are too large, it is not safe to swim or snorkel. Watching the waves crashing on the rocks below is a wonderous sight to behold! The spray can go as high as ten feet in the air and you can witness the power of the ocean, at a safe distance, of course!
THERE ARE NO VENDERS on this beach. The beach is not easily accessible to anyone who is not a guest at the resort, so it feels like you are on a 'private' beach. But, don't worry, there is plenty of opportunity for souvenir shopping elsewhere!
The resort, FIESTA AMERICANA GRAND, is located off the main Highway, (Highway 1) along 'the corridor' between the two towns of CABO SAN LUCAS and SAN JOSE DEL CABO. The highway is officially named 'Carretera Transpeninsular' and the FIESTA AMERICANA GRAND is located at Kilometer 10.3 and is easy to access from both directions.
This property has great restaurants and room service is available 24/7 so this is a great place to stay if your desire is to remain on the property throughout your vacation. You can swim and snorkel in the ocean at the resort, and servers are more than happy to bring food and drinks to you on the beach and at the pools all day. If you so desire, you can have dinner on the beach as well. But, be sure to eat at the awesome PENINSULA RESTAURANT even if you rent a car. Also, be sure to ask concierge about any special requests you may have. If you want to have dinner at a table in the sand among tiki torches, or a massage on the beach, just ask. Their philosophy is that they aim to please.
It is very easy to rent a car and explore on your own. There is plenty of free parking in a covered parking garage on the property. Driving in this part of Mexico is very easy and there is plenty of exploring to be done. You can easily drive to CABO SAN LUCAS or to SAN JOSE DEL CABO. They both have ample restaurants and shops. Additionally, SAN JOSE DEL CABO is an old Spanish mission town, so it has a different atmosphere than the newer CABO SAN LUCAS. Both are equally charming in their own way and equally accessible by car along the main highway.
San Jose del Cabo International (SJD) airport is a 30-50 minute drive, depending on the route you take and the traffic. One of the options is to drive on the toll road which eliminates going through the town of San Jose del Cabo, reducing the travel time since you don't have to stop at the stop lights and sit in traffic.
The resort is not on the Pacific side of Land's End. It lies on the Sea of Cortez. Although all of the beaches in Mexico are considered public, the beach at this resort has a 'private' feel to it due to the fact that it is not easily accessible to people other than guests of the property. Therefore, there are no vendors on the beach. But, don't worry, there is plenty of opportunity for souvenir shopping elsewhere! The beach has lots of palapas (see attached pictures of the beach) and you can swim and snorkel at the resort without any problem. There are beautiful tide pools where you can observe the undersea life! The only time it is not safe to do so is when there is a storm out at sea causing large swells, because then the waves get too big to swim or snorkel at the resort. There are also two good swimming/snorkeling beaches within minutes by car along the highway. They are called CHILENO BAY and PLAYA SANTA MARIA. 'Playa' is 'Beach' in Spanish. They are beautiful sheltered bays in which to swim and/or snorkel whenever the waves are too large to swim at the resort. It is easy to find them because there are signs along the highway, and there is plenty of free parking!
In addition to the two towns close by, you are centrally located to take road trips to towns further away. A very popular destination is TODOS SANTOS on the Pacific coast north on Highway 19 about 50 miles. Another popular destination on the Sea of Cortes north on Highway 1 through the mountains is LOS BARRILES. I have never timed it when I've driven there so I don't know how long it takes to drive it, suffice to say it takes more than an hour each way. Again, once you are in LOS BARRILES there are lots of great restaurants and bars. Beyond LOS BARRILES is another popular destination, LA PAZ. It is farther north along HWY 1 and takes a couple of hours to drive there. It is possible to drive to TODOS SANTOS from LA PAZ or CABO SAN LUCAS. If you leave early in the morning and drive north on HWY 1 towards LA PAZ, you can get there in time to eat lunch in LA PAZ and drive to TODOS SANTOS for dinner and get home at a reasonable time that night.
There are so many places to explore that it would be impossible to outline everything in the space allotted here, you just have to come to Cabo yourself and check it out!
The entire southern tip of the Baja peninsula, which is the Mexican state of BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR, is beautiful. A combination of mountains, desert and sea with a variety of attractions and activities makes this part of the world a paradise for vacationers, and this particular resort is a wonderful place to make as your home base. FYI, BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR (BCS) is the state, but the region is commonly referred to as the Baja Peninsula, or simply Baja. AKA LOS CABOS, or CABO (which means CAPE in English). The names all refer to the same part of the world.
Last, but certainly not least, BAJA is SAFE! In considering where you want to relax and enjoy your vacation, know that vacationing in the BAJA or LOS CABOS, or CABO is the safest place, probably in the world, today!
