Enjoy the private outdoor hot tub on the back deck overlooking the beautiful valley we call home. Once you enter this great home you will be swept away by all it has to offer. There is a bench with shelves and hooks to hang all your gear from busy days of activities out and about in Steamboat Springs. The fully equipped kitchen with Stainless Steel appliances, and granite counter tops is open into the Dining and Living area so everyone cooking can be part of the activities. The dining room table seats 6 with four bar stools at the island. Unwind in the spacious Living area with the gas fireplace, flat screen TV, plush couch, chair and love seat, also the back deck access. The powder room is on this level right off of the living area. Up the stairs to the Master bedroom featuring a King Bed, private bathroom, flat screen TV, and balcony door so you can assess the weather for each day. The second and third bedrooms also on this level share a bathroom in between them. The second bedroom has a Queen Bed, closet and window seat. The third bedroom has 2 Twin Beds or a King for couples, with a closet and a window seat.

The upstairs bedroom is meant for the kids! There is a spiral staircase leading to it. It has 2 sets of bunk beds ( Twin Over Twin ) and a single bed.

There is a one car underground parking space as well as overflow parking for the home. Also in the building next door there is a shared laundry room and game room with a ping pong table, shuffleboard and ice hockey for the kids making this great property complete.

Spacious & excellent views!

We enjoyed our stay at this townhouse. There was plenty of space for all 9 of us (5 kids and 4 adults). The kids LOVED the room on the 3rd floor. It had 2 sets of bunkbeds and a TV, and they all ended up sleeping up there. The bedrooms were all comfortable and there was plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen was well equipped and the open kitchen/dining/living was very nice. We used the hot tub every day. We had read a review stating that the hot tub was small, but we comfortably fit 4 people in it. The only negative was that the parking space was extremely difficult to maneuver. The driveway has very tight turns and the garage is very small. It might be fine if you are not driving an SUV. Luckily we talked to neighbors in the complex next door and they allowed us to park in their parking lot for the week. Overall, this place is a great value and we would stay here again.

Warning about this unit and management company

We checked in on December 28, 2015.

1. Winterset 2 is not "just three blocks from the ski area" as advertised on their web site. It's about a 15 minute walk from the gondola and mostly up a hill on the way back to the unit.

2. A standard size car or SUV can't make the tight hairpin turns in the "Z" shape driveway down to the tiny garage or the last turn into the garage itself. There was no mention of this in the ad on their web site.

3. The garage itself is incredibly narrow and can't fit a standard size car or SUV and is incredibly inconvenient to get into and out of even with a compact car. There was also no mention of this in the ad on their web site.

4. Upon check in, there was dirt and dirty socks on the shelf above the coat hooks and a broken desk lamp just sitting in the corner on the floor in the 3rd floor bedroom (I have pictures of this if you'd like). This is just an example of the overall carelessness of this management company.

5. There is no fan in the third floor bathroom and the mirror is only at chest height.

6. The obviously hasty and sloppy remodel on the third floor, cheap bedding and bathroom cabinetry throughout is more what you'd expect from a low end motel. So, to say the least, I was definitely not "swept away" by the unit as stated in the ad for the unit on their web site.

7. The light fixture outside the front door didn't work so we couldn't even see the keypad to get in at night when returning from dinner. I tried changing the bulb, but that didn't work, so there was a call to maintenance right off the bat.

8. When we called for maintenance and told someone named Michael that there was a problem with the fixture itself (not the light bulb), he asked me if I had tried changing the light bulb. Very frustrating and insulting to be asked that when I told him it was the fixture itself.

9. The "private" outdoor hot tub is actually on a shared deck with the neighbor with only a small railing as a divider.

10. The hot tub only fits 2 people comfortably and is not a normal hot tub. The entire interior of the hot tub is lined with some sort of rough fabric and the jets are very weak.

11. The TV was stuck on the same channel. The remote control in the family room didn't work to change it even after changing the batteries. The maintenance person came and left a note that a new remote would have to be ordered. This of course didn't solve the problem.

Owner's Response: The problems with the guest started even before they arrived in the unit. The guests reserved the townhome directly on our site without talking to us. Then there were other calls with complaints that some of the information in the e-mails we send him (e-mails with information about the area, shops, restaurants, activities , etc) do not concern him.... We did apologize and explained the e-mails are automatic and usually guest love them as it gives them inside, local information about the town and what to do around here. He was still unhappy ... I would also like to reply to the issues the guest has stated below: 1)The unit is actually not 3 blocks away from the ski are a- it is 1.5 blocks away from the slopes ( actually closer) and about 3 blocks away from the base. 2)we have 4 units in the complex and in our advertising we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. Most of our guest come with Suburbans or larger SUV and we have never had a problem with anyone not being able to make it in the garage 3) I am sorry that the guest felt the garage was inconvenient for him to park in. We did get a call from he guest about this and made different arrangements for him to park, which was on a flat parking lot , closer to his unit 4) Our housekeeping did leave 1 sock behind in a cabinet ( the unit is over 2,000 square foot) and there was a lamp left in the corner by the owners who checked out on the same day ( they were trying to get it fix after next time they come back). We offered housekeeping to go back on the next day and the guest said it was not necessary. 5) We apologize for the lack of fan in the third floor bathroom and also about the height of the mirror. I wish we can change the height every time according to the desire of the guests. 6)The rest of the unit has around 30 photos on our site showing the unit and amenities in different angles 7+8)We did receive a call on our emergency after hours line at 11:26 pm from the guest the light in front of the unit does not work. The guest cell phone does not have good coverage and is very hard to hear ( every other word) . That is why we have asked him if he has replaced the bulb and did not realize he has told us this already. We sent a maintenance the first thing next morning and it turned out it was the switch, which we immediately replaced. I can keep going and going about this particular guest, but unfortunately we are limited by the number of characters to use...

Our large group of 8 adults had plenty of space in the Winterset #2 townhome for our ski vacation in late March. This is a 3 story unit with interior stairwell: 1st floor-garage and common laundry room; 2nd fl-living rm (with the sofa sleeper), kitchen, dining, half bath; 3rd fl-3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (there is actually a bonus "loft" on the 4th fl with a full bath and a set of 2 twin bunkbeds--sleeping 4, but it requires that you climb a ladder to get up there, so this may explain why this "bonus" room is not included in the ad.) As stated, it is close to the ski base area and on the bus line so you can conveniently get around town if you don't have a car. If you bring a car, please note that the garage is very narrow and non-garage parking spaces limited (there is no street parking). Moreover, the driveway is steep & shaped like a Z, so only competent drivers should attempt. The deck off the living room houses the hot tub, a grill, and chairs with a nice view of the Yampa River Valley and the sunset. Laundry room is coin operated, so bring your quarters. This is an older building (mid '70s) so it shows a bit of wear, but the the stainless steel appliances and granite countertops in the kitchen help to give it a more updated feel. The place was clean, had plenty of towels/linens, the kitchen well-stocked and the beds were (mostly) comfortable (one person sleeping on the king in the master reported difficulty). The management company Retreatia was friendly and responsive. We'd give it 5 stars, but the driveway and coin operated laundry were a bit of an annoyance. However, we would happily return as it was a perfect space to catch up with friends and family.

Close to Base Comfortable Home

Loved the private hot tub, well stocked kitchen, game room in the common area, closeness to the base. Just five of us stayed in this home, it had tons of space and plenty to do without leaving. We went downtown every night using the bus that stops right across the street. Our driver who picked us up at the airport gave us more than enough dinner and night life recommendations. This was a stress free fun vacation!
