About the property

Spacious five bdrm home complete with two separate living areas, can be 2 nights

Elevated above quaint downtown Los Olivos this bright inviting home welcomes you with a warm feel, newly remodeled décor, and amenities at every turn. The views from the back balcony and patio give a removed view of downtown. Sink your feet into plush new carpet covering the upstairs level, a TV room and dining area in the great room off the kitchen. A third bedroom with hardwood floors and two full sized beds connect to the downstairs which has a recreation room with fireplace and dining area and a utility kitchen with wine bar. The master suite downstairs has a sliding glass door out to the spacious backyard and barbecue area. The floors blend from Old growth walnut to Brazilian Rosewood. A French door goes out from the wine bar kitchen area to the outside. A driveway comes up from the empty lot for easy access.

The linens through out the home are of the highest quality. Immaculate cleanliness is demonstrated by the bright white bedding nestled in hand carved wooden bed frames with decorative ironwork. The rustic homey feel is contrasted by the professional track lighting on the ceiling. Upstairs there is another master bedroom and second bedroom. The Vaulted ceilings of the upstairs great room give freedom to play. Only one television is in the master great room upstairs. Focus is on the games downstairs and the game table.

About Jeanne Hollingsworth

I grew up in the Bay area and went to Berkeley, but left for 15 years in South America shortly thereafter. I was with my college sweetheart following him around 10 countries in 15 years on a fast track advertising career much like the series Madmen!

When I came back to the US with two suitcases, an eight year old son and no husband, I landed in New Mexico at the Light Institute where I learned to follow my heart. Visiting my sister in Santa Barbara, she suggested I see the Santa Ynez Valley. When I came to the Valley, separated from any other city by 30 miles, nestled in a beautiful valley of vineyards and horse ranches, grass laden hillsides dotted by heritage Oak trees, I knew I wanted to live and die here.

I loaded up my horses and my son and we came to start our future. That was 24 years ago.

Jeanne Hollingsworth purchased this house in 2001

Why Jeanne Hollingsworth chose Central Coast

I raised my son in this home. I felt like it was a window to the sky. It was place where all of my dreams came true. My son grew up and became a strong, successful, sensible, responsible and incredible father and husband.

When he left home, I met a man and built the horse ranch of my dreams with him. I chose to renovate the house to the luxury and style equivalent to our horse ranch and rent it to others to enjoy beautiful Los Olivos.

Even though we built the most gorgeous home and ranch of 500 acres, we still miss our home in Los Olivos.

Living simply in town with the cozy feeling of the people and establishments that you enjoy so close by is a wonderful way to live. The Los Olivos vacation rental is a place of belonging and comfort. I hope it is a place where people gather and build and strengthen friendships. Happiness rings within its walls.

What makes this house unique

Being so close to town and yet a little above it all is a decided advantage. The backyard comes with a dog run on the side and is fenced for dogs as is the front lawn. The privacy of the hedges around the front lawn make your own patio under the poplar tree where you can see everything, but no one can see you.

So many long talks and silent discussions have run along like notes of a song on the front porch. Hours have passed away in friendship and laughter. Downstairs has a large patio and a covered redwood deck . It has places to sit and dine and relax in the shade of the garden.

It's fun to go upstairs and downstairs with privacy in the family that gathers either in one area or the other. Plenty of space for individual comfort and shared times too.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The location could not have been better! The main street of Los Olivos, with its shops and tasting rooms, was just two blocks away. We were in town for a family event at a nearby winery and having our family stay together in the house was perfect. The layout of the house is a bit odd but there was plenty of space and beds. The house was fully stocked with kitchen supplies, linens, towels, laundry facilities, etc. Having wifi and plenty of parking were also advantages. Jeanne was easy to work with and we appreciated the wine and flowers that were in the house for us.

Great Place!

  • 4 of 5

Location was perfect! Beds were very comfortable! House was very clean and stocked with all amenities needed. Number of bathrooms for a larger party and the septic tank situation were a little bit challenging. Overall, I would recommend this property to anyone!

Large family home in the heart of Los Olivas

  • 4 of 5

This is a large home with plenty of room for a you and your extended family. The beds are very comfortable with luxury bedding. It has lots of charm and feels very private even though it is just blocks away from the town where there are wine tastings, coffee shops, and smaller restaurants. We used the backyard for a rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding and it was perfect for about 50 guests. Although the inside of the home was clean, we spent quite a bit of time cleaning the outdoor furniture ourselves - even though the host was aware of our plans to to use it for the party. (You should also be aware that it's on a septic system if this would bother you.) With our larger family, the two levels and two kitchen areas provided plenty of privacy and comfort and we would highly recommend it.

Great location, lots of seating nooks to relax and talk!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying here, and we will be back again after a wonderful weekend in Los Olivos. It's so easy to walk a block into main street and go tasting or grab a bite to eat. Jeanne is great, also- very responsive to any questions/needs!

Such a great location!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place for our family vacation. The house is fully equipped with everything you could need and more. There were 10 of us in the house and we never ran out of hot water. Bedding was awesome. Two coffee pots provided! Downtown Los Olivos is literally a few steps out the backyard. Only complaint is the upstairs screen door needs to be replaced as it does not stay on its track. And as a heads up, we had zero cellphone service (there is free WiFi), we actually enjoyed not having our phones ringing but I know it may bother some.

  • 5 of 5

Jeanne was a gracious host stopping by to see if all was well. The property was convenient to Los Olivos, a unique and fun town in wine country. We were well pleased with all the amenities that were provided and which made our stay so pleasant. A great place for a get away with family or friends.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was perfect at this wonderful home is beautiful Los Olivos. Eight ladies rented the home to celebrate two of our friend's birthdays and the home surpassed all of our expectations. The home lay-out, comfy beds, beautiful linens, comfortable sitting areas and wonderful outdoor spaces made for a perfect weekend for us! We especially liked the short walk to downtown Los Olivos as well as sitting outside and enjoying the peace, quiet and beauty of the nature that surrounded us.

Jeanne was fantastic to work with -- always responsive and accommodating and obviously works hard to make sure her guests have the perfect stay at her house (which we did!).

I loved the home so much I'm thinking of renting it again when we are back in the area for my daughter's wedding.

Los Olivos was made famous by Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch, and he was sometimes seen walking around town. The movie Sideways was filmed here, which put this town of 1000 people on the map; we now boast 50 wine tasting shops. Los Olivos is a happy town, with local events occurring regularly. There are three elegant restaurants: Los Olivos Cafe, Sides from Brothers Restaurant, and The Bear and Star, in Fess Parker's Wine Country Inn and Spa.

From the downstairs patio of the house you can walk to the corner to the corner coffee house. On your way, browse Wendy Foster's Dress Shop and Italian shoes. Locally made Stafford's Chocolates have the most delicious salted caramels and red wine truffles. Alll that is just on the same street downstairs.

First Street Leather is next to Stolpman wine tasting. Panino's has the best sandwiches, try the #12 on wheat sourdough, it's a favorite! The Lavina Campbell Park has recently been renovated for a picnic or a time to relax and people watch. Many wine tasting shops have patios and tables on lawns for picnics and wine.

If you take a stroll the two blocks by two blocks which makes up Los Olivos, turn into the Saint Marks church parking lot where there is a bench in an entry by the side cemetery which is quiet and serene for a reflective moment.

Passing the R Country Store on your way home anything you are missing can be quickly picked up. Los Olivos is a very safe place to be. All that right outside your door, AND if you feel like a drive, try Solvang, a Danish settlement with delectable bakeries, it's just minutes away. If you feel like getting a feel of the Old West, the town of Santa Ynez is close by. Lake Cachuma is located just 7 miles south. Great fishing, boating, kayaking. And there's more! The Valley is great for bike riding and hiking, too.
