Ian and Axelle are amazing hosts to their incredible historic bohemian apartment. The apartment has everything we needed to work, cook and live for 2 weeks. Plenty of spaces too, indoor and out, to relax and enjoy. Their local recommendations were what we ended up turning to the most, in order to get a more authentic Provençal experience, so that was a great help. Would definitely make a return visit!
One of the most beautiful properties we’ve stayed in. The building has been lovingly and beautifully restored, furnished with stunning sculptures, art and antiques - such a calming and tranquil atmosphere. The location is ideal, walking distance from shops and superb restaurants. Ian and Axelle are amazing hosts who recommended some great places to visit and eat. Thoroughly recommend. Thank you for a fantastic week.
First things first the property was really well kept as well as the appartment itself. On top of that the owners seemed to be really friendly and kind people since they also offered additional services like providing us with information of Caromb as well as some vegetables. All in all the time spent at the appartment was amazing not only due to the appartment itself since one had also access to other facilities like a little gym as well as a beautiful tiny garden.

How wonderful to live in the history of previous travelers from the 1500's and on. This is a place filled with light, wonderful sounds of music, as the musician of the family works on her music, and kindness. You could not find nicer people. Ian and Axelle are very generous with their time and knowledge of the area. The house is centrally located, very clean and beautifully appointed. I will return again for more time in this magical home.
Welcoming, warm and comfortable apartment in Caromb
The apartment is well located in a charming and quiet village. The apartment itself is in a historic building, and has been made into a comfortable space with mix of artistic and rustic charm. The apartment is well equipped, comfortable, spacious yet cozy and feels welcoming. We loved returning to it after a long day of exploring the area.
The hosts are friendly, generous and wonderful. They were always available when needed. They offered us their tips and shared their favorite spots.

History! Romance! Ambience!
Of course, I should have posted this review a year ago. But here I am and can wholeheartedly echo the previous reviews of these accommodations. Travelers interested in experiencing "living like a local" cannot do better than to stay with the welcoming, charming Axelle, Ian and daughter Jun here in the lovely village of Caromb which is so perfectly located for day trips exploring this beautiful and intriguing part of France. Thank you for making our visit so special and memorable.

Apartments with great history and amazing view
During a long weekend I stayed at Le Vieil Hopital with a group of 6 other cyclists.
On arrival we were greeted by Ian & Axelle and showed to our apartments (we rented both of them). The top one I stayed in was amazing with a view upon one of our destinations that weekend, Le Mont Ventoux, from the lovely and very big terras. We mainly used this apartment to cook and eat in with the entire group as it is the biggest of the two.
The facilities were very good and well maintained with plenty of space for your bike. Furthermore I always like it when an apartment has a good solid bed that isn't too soft and a hot shower with good pressure but these things seem to be hard to find. However this time I was pleasantly surprised.
The apartments are in a very old house with plenty of history which provides a great feel to the place. See their website for more information on that http://www.levieilhopital.com/
If I had to name one downside it has to be the wifi signal which wasn't as strong in all the areas of the top most apartment. That being said if I ever stay in the same region again I would definitely stay here.

Fairy tale place for insiders
We had four lovely days in Le Vieil l'Hopital as our starting point to explore Luberon area. Axelle & Ian offered us not only an accomodation but a house with spirit and soul, where they move like being characters in a novel of good old time. We made three routes from Caromb that reached easily our aimed places to visit: Isle sur les sorgues- Gordes-Venasque; Roussillion-Lourmarin-Bonieux-Menerbes; Seguret-Vaison la romane. Every evening we were staying on the open terrace with a glass of rose wine from the area, having Ventoux mountain in front of us like in a picture. I met Axelle&Ian friends one evening and I was feeling a conviviality beyond the nationality, language but mainly based on sharing the same values of simplicity and genuinity. All my best wishes to Kelly from Carolina,USA.
So, if you look mainly for comfort and luxury, try to find another place. But if you really want to enjoy a genuine experience and to go more deeply in the beauty of Provence, le Vieil l'Hopital is one of the best choise. I still have in my hearing the sound of the music that Axelle was playing to the electric quitar, just for herself, alone, in their strange open living...

Your home in Provence
Axelle and Ian were great hosts and when we arrived the apartment was spotless. They had everything prepared perfectly and even left us some basic food supplies. The spacious 2-bedroom apartment we stayed in was gorgeous and located right in the heart of Caromb. The appliances are all high quality and in good condition. I highly recommend this historic building, which has been renovated beautifully, and hosts. They really care that you have a good experience. We came to the area to visit Provence and this very special and unique place made an ideal base. If you have never been to this area of France the village of Caromb is a wonderful location for discovering Provence. It is also a wonderful place to relax!
