About the property

Skiing, snow, waterfront, wooded, secluded, sunset views, sleeps 10, 2 full bath

CONTACT ME BEFORE BOOKING! July and August rentals are Sunday-to-Sunday.

Mix and match your skiing and winter fun and avoid the high price of slope side lodging. Now throw in a sunset lake view and a fireplace for Mom and the less avid skiers. You can be right in the middle of the northern Michigan ski resort area. 30 minutes southeast to Shanty Creek and Schuss Mountain, 45 minutes east to Boyne Mountain, an hour north to Nub Knob and Boyne Highlands, 40 minutes south to Traverse City's Holiday Mountain and only 30 minutes from quaint Charlevoix and Mt McSauba.

The house sits on a point that provides panoramic views of Lake Michigan to the north and Grand Traverse Bay to the south. The point seems to draw the birds (for you bird watchers). It is located just north of the village of Eastport which is at the northern tip of Torch Lake. You can walk the beach forever - something you can't do on inland lakes.

Enjoy a fire during the cool nights in the lakeside fire pit or the dramatic two story fireplace.

A private sandy area with fire pit is located near the house. A large deck and covered porch overlook the lake.

The beach has pebbles and sand with a bottom of smooth rocks (aqua shoes are recommended).

There are two stand up paddleboards and two tandem kayaks that can be used to enjoy the bay.

The home is 'like new' with 2,500' square feet of living space.

There are three bedrooms and a 'dormitory' plus sleeper sofa. There are two full bathrooms with tub/showers which are both accessible without entering a bedroom.

The kitchen is a chef's dream. There is over 20' of counter space, a high end induction stove and top of the line All Clad and Williams Sonoma cookware. The appliances are stainless steel. A gorgeous quartz countertop island with double bowl sink provides a dramatic lake view. The icemaker allows ice to be moved right to your cooler.

A washer and dryer is provided on the main floor for convenience.

All the modern conveniences are provided including high speed internet and cable TV (cable TV may not be available in the off season). There are several HD and Ultra HD TVs with ultra HD Nexflix streaming.

To keep you cool there are seven ceiling fans and central air conditioning.

The 'double' lot offers 200 feet of private shoreline and access to miles of beach to walk and enjoy.

The bay is shallow which makes it great for young children.

The master bedroom is a large loft area and the only room upstairs. It overlooks the family room and dining area (and the lake). It has a private reading area. The master bath offers a relaxing whirlpool tub. The second bedroom and den/bedroom are on the main floor. Dormitory sleeping is provided on the lower level in the 'rec room'.

There is a small grocery store with a great deli (and delicious summer BBQ) only 5 minutes away.

Fine dining is available at the nearby Rowe Inn - one of Michigan's most acclaimed restaurants.

There is plenty of parking including space for a boat trailer. There is a boat launch 5 minutes away.

Location! Location! We wanted to find a place to get away, within a reasonable driving distance, a home base for touring northern Michigan and we wanted to be on a lake. We found Bob's place on Lake Michigan went beyond our expectations. The location is remote enough to be northern woods, peace and quite, yet able to tour the area's attractions for day trips. Be as busy or laid back as you want. Pine trees and birch, lake front beach with great views of the brilliant red sunsets...hiking, biking, kayaking, birding,...touring, shopping, entertainment, restaurants...all ending with evenings at the fire pit...sipping wine. This is it for us!

Going inside...a spacious, relaxing well appointed, yet homey atmosphere with everything you need; you can enjoy a romantic evening with a gourmet meal or have the family BBQ grill n' chill on the deck, hang out on the beach and end up with smores by a fire at dusk. We had our boxer-lab lab and walked the beach or wooded paths every morning, spent the day on the road and came back for evenings to relax at "home".

The house is well maintained with all modern features and appliances, is well stocked for fun indoors or out.

And...CLEAN! The housekeeping is immaculate and obviously receives meticulous attention.

We travel often and utilize VRBO exclusively. Bob sets the bar for what can be achieved implementing his vision and hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the beach house and found a place to call a refuge for many more trips in our plans.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to spend our honeymoon in a nice house with tons of amenities in a quiet location....and Bob's place came through tenfold. We honestly couldn't have picked a better location anywhere in this country to disappear for a week with our dogs. The house was much bigger than we expected and had literally everything we could have hoped for. Almost everything was new or updated and in great condition. We used almost every appliance, did tons of cooking, used the fireplace every day, took the kayaks out, made a bonfire at the beach.....everything was awesome. Tons of pillows, blankets, games, firewood, a binder with every detail of the house and surrounding areas, even a bluetooth speaker which was a pleasant surprise once we realized we forgot ours. Literally everything you could want or need was there. We've stayed at a bunch of Airbnbs and VRBOs, and have never come across a place that was this well thought-out in regards to every type of traveler. We will 100% be back in the future for an anniversary...the house and the property were such an awesome chapter to this part of our lives. Thanks to you Bob (and Shelley, who lives down the road and welcomed us and even brought us a wedding gift!) for providing us with such wonderful memories.

Peaceful Lake Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the beach - and we even stayed in the chillier month of March! Can't wait to return in the summer months to soak up a bit more sun. The kitchen is stocked with everything you'll need, and all items are in great condition and clean. The beds and furniture were comfortable, and you couldn't ask for more with the proximity to the beach! Most of all, the owner was VERY helpful with quick responses to our inquiries and even called to ensure we were happy. Highly recommend!

Honeymoon 10/17/16 to 10/21/16

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time on your honeymoon in October. The house was amazing had everything we needed. Loved being right on the water. We took our dog with us and he absolutely loved it! I can't wait to get back. It is so close to other cities if you want to explore. The best part is the basement with all of the games! I would recommended this place to anyone who wants to go to Northern Michigan.

Still wonderful

  • 5 of 5

This was my second stay at Bob's home and I was lucky enough to see Bob again in person. The home is as lovely as ever, modern, clean, and comfortable with fantastic water views. Lake levels are high right now, but there is plenty of sandy beach. This time my family and I took advantage of the little grocery store attached to the nearby gas station. It has more than enough options (including for vegetarians) and the kitchen in the home has everything you could need for cooking. Consider renting this house before or after the high season; there are still plenty of things to do and the absence of crowds makes visits into town even more enjoyable.
