We stayed two nights and were in town for a funeral. The cottage was a cute and well thought out place. We slept well, used the kitchen and outdoor charcoal grill. For a family looking for a homebase while enjoying the area this is a nice set up.

The cabin is absolutely charming! Cozy & clean - it was perfect for our family of four. Wonderful location-close to Leland and Leelanau State Park. Great location and the weather much cooler up there. Would definitely come again!

Quiet, Cosy Cabin Close to Northport

Young family of four stayed in the cosy, clean and quiet cabin. Perfectly situated to walk into Northport. We had a fantastic stay and the cabin was everything we needed it to be.

Such a cute cottage. Absolutely perfect for our family. Loved being able to take a short walk into downtown Northport for coffee at Bohemian Cafe, ice cream at Buster's and groceries at Tom's. Cottage is very well stocked with everything you'll need.

Weekend getaway for husbands 50th Birthday

Our stay at Cheryl’s place was fantastic! The cabin was impeccably clean and well-stocked with everything we needed, and the location was perfect for exploring Northport and close to so many beaches for rock hunting. Cute and cozy to say the least. We would definitely stay here again!

Anniversary Getaway Weekend

The cottage was as advertised: clean and cozy with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. The fireplace was great! Beautiful location convenient to several wineries near Northport. Check-in and -out was simple. Would definitely stay again.

Cozy little cabin in Northport. Excellent location for what we wanted to see on the area. Very nicely decorated and immaculately clean. Had everything we needed for our stay. Hosts were very responsive to our questions. Would love to stay again sometime.

Comfortable and quiet!

The cabin was perfect for a quiet, relaxing getaway! It was very clean and comfortable. We loved that we could walk through the property down to the lake and to the downtown Northport area as well. Cheryl was a great host. She quickly answered any questions that I had and gave me some great recommendations on places to visit in the area. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Northport Cabin

This cabin is .75 miles, 10 minute walk to the center of Northport. The home is very modern/classy inside and thoughtfully decorated and equipped. The owner is great to communicate with.

Absolutely amazing little cabin to get away to! Clean, cozy and comfortable. Cheryl was great with communicating. If you are coming up to Northport this is where you want to stay for sure! We will definitely be back and looking forward to it already!

This was a lovely, newly-decorated place, walking distance from downtown Northport. Cheryl put a lot of care into the cottage. It felt like a home, not a rental. (I would be very happy to own a cottage that looked and felt like this.) It’s one of perhaps 5 little cabins clustered close together, but I only occasionally heard or saw neighbors. My family would happily rent this cottage again.

Relaxing Get-A-Way!

Cute and well-organized cabin for our family of five. We were hoping for a grill and/or fire pit but enjoyed eating on the deck every day. Property owner was great to work with. Will plan to return in the future.

I love to travel, but I also love to stay close to home. Michigan's Leelanau Peninsula affords me the best of both worlds. It's close enough to our home base in Ohio to allow a weekend trip, but far enough away in distance and spirit to seem a different world.

We love traveling: in recent years we've especially enjoyed the warm hospitality we've enjoyed in several trips to Turkey and Jordan. The Leelanau Peninsula is vastly different from the middle East (though perhaps a bit like some areas in northeast Turkey) in geography and weather, but it shares the warm communal feeling--and the beauty of the surroundings is, though different, just as powerful.

So we enjoy visiting this cottage. We love sharing it with our children and grandchildren who have come to love going there. And we hope you come to enjoy the cottage and its surroundings as much as we and our family have.

We have visited the southern part of Leelanau Peninsula for over 20 years now--and grown to enjoy it more each time we visit. Over those years we've come to realize that southern Leelanau County is a different world from the northern half of the peninsula, so when we go the opportunity to purchase this cottage we jumped. We love the beaches in the north part of the county. Downtown Northport has become a great place to visit over the last twenty years: alive, full of activity, fun. And this is a wonderful cottage: everything we need in a cottage that though built over 100 years ago seems fully modern.

The history of the cottages on this corner stretches back to the early 1900s when an enterprising man collected and moved cottages purchased from across the Leelanau Peninsula to this corner where he used them as core homes of a little resort. That resort ran for nearly seventy years before ending. With the end of the resort, the cottages were solid to individual owners. The land is owned communally with the cottages occupying the same portions of the land they did 100 years ago.

Northwood Cottage was entirely modernized in the early 2000s. More recently it was remodeled again and redecorated.
