About the property

Two bedroom cottage with beach access and walking distance to 'downtown' Lummi

This charming, historic and beautifully appointed beach front house features two bedrooms (one room with attached bath has a Queen bed and another room with a single bed) and sleeps three. The cottage is stocked with everything you will need for an easy get away. Enjoy the large deck overlooking the breathtaking views of Mt. Baker and the Sisters, watch the ferry, the Whatcom Chief, sail back and forth, take a soak in the deep tub, read by the fireplace, put your kayak in the water and adventure, or go for a bike ride or hike. You will find yourself within walking distance of the local Beach Store Cafe (just across the street), Farmers Market, and local grocery store. Conveniently located only a five minute walk to the ferry and on the picturesque 7 mile loop which is great for walking and bike riding. Despite the proximity to Vancouver BC and Seattle, Lummi Island feels like it is a 'world away'. The Beach House was built in 1933 and has a long history on Lummi Island, and at one time served as the local library. With a complete Sunset Magazine worthy remodel in 2004 it could not be sweeter.

About Angie Dixon

Colleen McCrory and Angie Dixon, long-term residents of Lummi Island, and friends, became the proud new owners of the Beach House in December of 2014. This delightful home with its up-close water views, location, it's place in the island's history and unique style was a particular joy and opportunity for them, as well as their families. They look forward to sharing the Beach House and this wonderful community and island with you. The peace, abundance of nature and outdoor adventures here on Lummi Island are unbeatable.

Why Angie Dixon chose San Juan Islands

We both love living here and being a part of the island and were excited to be able to invest in such a beautiful property.

Idealic Lummi Island Get Away

Serene, tranquil and natural beauty surround this delightful cottage that has all the appointments that'd one would desire.

Loved cooking each night for dinner's overlooking the water with the fireplace on. Such a delightful experience.

The island is so quaint with a tempo of relaxation and fun. We truly appreciate the warm hospitality felt. The cottage is lovely and in a great location. A must for a couple or small family looking to experience Lummi at its finest.

Thanks for allowing our golden retriever, too.

Beautiful home on Lummi Island

  • 5 of 5

We spent the long weekend over Christmas at the Beach House and it was better than we had hoped for. The home is just as described, with one exception - not enough emphasis is placed on how deceptively comfortable the queen bed is. I have low back issues (who, of a certain age, does not?), so when I sat on the bed I thought, "oh my - really soft. Ok - there will be lots of stretching in the morning!" Oh, how wrong I was. I don't know the make of the bed, but it cocoons you in softness while providing terrific support. I woke each morning feeling great and a little sad I had to actually get up (our dog insists on a morning walk -how rude). Really, an astounding bed, and given the array of truly horrific beds in the ABNB and VRBO realm, this bed is worth crowing about. I have a running list of vacation rentals I'll return to based solely on the bed - and this one is on the top of the list.

But what of the rest of the house? Charming, well-appointed, comfortable, welcoming, perfectly located, just the right size. In short, wow! We wished we could pick the bathroom up and bring it home - the soaking tub was a welcome gift, especially the view. The kitchen is well-appointed and has real pots and pans that don't stick or scorch. We made perfect over-easy eggs - again, not an easy thing to do in most rentals. In truth, this is the house I would own if I were a vacation home owner. We truly felt at home. At some point over the weekend, after long walks around the island and in the heritage preserves, we realized we were content to sit and stare out the huge picture window and watch the ferry come and go - for us, the definition of unwinding.

Angie was a terrific host - she promptly answered the one question we had about the wi-fi (it works very well), which was exactly the right amount of contact for us. Arrival was easy as was our departure.

Oh, and for those of you have never taken a small ferry across somewhat rough waters, make sure you are among the first four vehicle in line to get a front row view - it's quite an adventure!

We can't wait to go back - maybe a motorcycle trip this summer!

Lovely Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely weekend at the Beach House, watching the ferry come and go and exploring Lummi Island. The cottage is comfortable and tasteful and a great cozy place to spend some time. We appreciated the tasteful decor and the nice touches like fluffy towels and nice comforters. Angie was warm and welcoming and answered my questions quickly, and everything was just as advertised. We'll go back!

Best Getaway Ever

  • 5 of 5

This place is heaven if you want to escape from the everyday noise and just relax in the most perfect way. The cottage is beautiful, fully equipped, cozy and great in every aspect. You have your own beach, and a big deck with amazing view. It is really close to everything: a one minute walk to the restaurant, three minutes to the ferry and maybe a very slow five minute walk to the convenient store. The people on the island are very friendly and you can find everything you need. The convenient store has a great selection, and we had the best dinners and breakfasts in the Beach Store Cafe. You can rent bikes at the cafe, too and Angie provided a very useful booklet about other stuff you can get e.g. kayak from Chuckanut Bay, etc. If you are worried about going at the drydock season, don't be! It was the best: we barely saw any cars, we had the whole road for ourselves when we were biking around the island. All in all I recommend this little piece of heaven to everyone!:)

Thank you again for everything, Angie!

Very comfortable and well-equpped house with great views. We loved this place!

  • 5 of 5

Angie’s “Waterfront Beach House” on Lummi Island was everything my wife and I could have hoped for, and more! Great views, light and airy interior, well- equipped, and extremely comfortable bed and linens. We also enjoyed the wonderfully fresh air while reading, relaxing, and drinking coffee on the front deck in the morning and midday sun. The island was quiet, unhurried, very little traffic, and offered several nice walking/hiking options and bicycle routes. The grocery store had a surprisingly good selection of food, there were also farm stands with fresh local produce, and the two small restaurants within walking distance of the cottage were very good. We’d highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing stay on this little known out-of-the-way San Juan Island.

Peace and relaxation with a water view

  • 4 of 5

My sister and I loved being in this house! The décor is very tasteful, the floor plan with bedrooms separated. The kitchen looks out on the water as does the dining table and bathroom. Fridge is smallish. Extremely clean. Comfy beds and good quality linens. Porch was great for dinner. A couple lounging chairs would be nice. Location so convenient to the ferry dock and the only restaurant on the island (that we could afford). Beach Café closed on Mon and Tues, not convenient. But we cooked too. Angie was so informative about what to see and do. The whole process of staying here went without a glitch. This house is a gem!

Those of us living on Lummi Island came here because of its unspoiled natural beauty, the slower, peaceful pace of the island, and a tight-knit rural community reminiscent of a bygone era. We are also the only San Juan island with easy access to the mainland and urban services, one of the main reasons Lummi can remain as commercially undeveloped as it is. Here, Mother Nature is at her best with spectacular water and island views, an abundance of sea birds, eagles, herons, and even passing pods of Orca whales. There are many ways to fill your time while you visit Lummi Island; beach comb, ride your bike on the quiet roads around the island, eat delicious, locally grown food at the Beach Store Cafe and listen to live music, visit the famous Willows Inn, stop in for a glass of wine at the wine gallery, bird watch, kayak, go sailing, read a book by the fire... Lummi Island is also a great launching point for Bellingham or exploring into the bigger city like Vancouver, BC.
