This is a classic Maine home is perfect for a large family or even 2 families to share for vacation. It has a central heating system and window air conditioners in the living room, bedroom upstairs, and in 'the dorm'. There are 2 bedrooms & bath together, and 4 single beds in what we call 'the dorm' with its own staircase. The home sleeps 8 comfortably. The kitchen is large and fully equipped, including a dishwasher. There is also a very large dining room, and the living room has to be seen to believe how big it is! There is a lovely brick fireplace in the living room also. There is also a refrigerator in the attached garage. The 2-car garage is attached with an auto door opener, and there is a stone patio in the back, very private area accessible from the garage or the kitchen side door. There is patio furniture on the premises, and a large side yard for volleyball, badminton, or kicking a soccer ball.
We live in western New York where we both grew up and where our parents, children, and grandchildren live as well. We discovered Maine when friends invited us to spend a long weekend with them in a cottage there.
Michele King purchased this house in 2011
We vacationed in this area of Maine for 30 years and decided to buy a property in this area which we love! We still enjoy visiting the area and never get tired of going there or never seem to run out of things to do or see.
This home was in disrepair when we saw it and yet saw that it was beautifully built and had been loved and cared for in the past. It is a classic Maine home with beautiful plantings (huge rhododendrons, azaleas, forsythia, etc), great curb appeal, and a private area in the back. With some TLC, it is again lovely & warm and yet has incredible space.
Located on the Pemaquid Peninsula, only 2 miles from the Pemaquid Point lighthouse (on could argue that is the most beautiful in Maine)and 1 mile from the Pemaquid Beach, this home is also convenient for day trips to Rockland, Camden, Port Clyde, Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset, Bath & Portland. Only 12 miles from the beautiful town of Damariscotta, the setting with woods behind the home and a private patio will provide peace and plenty of places to visit. There are nature trails for hiking, the Rachel Carson salt pond preserve to explore the tide pool & beach, a daily ferry out to Monhegan Island, or the Pemaquid beach to play or enjoy the sun. There are restaurants close by and a grocery store in walking distance. Boothbay Harbor with its shops, restaurants and harbor is a 1/2 hour drive. Mt Batty in Camden provides beautiful views of the water and surrounding area or you can take sailing excursions out of Camden Harbor. If you like golfing, Wawenock Golf Club is in South Bristol close by or the Samoset Resort has public golfing in Rockland about 40 minutes north. There are a number of peninsulas to explore: Georgetown, Boothbay & St. George are the closest. Acadia National Park is about a 3-hour drive north. There is no limit to the beauty of the coastline or the natural beauty of the woods and contour of the land.
