Overview

About the property

2200 sf, 2 living areas, screened porch, covered patio, firepit, basketball goal

Completely remodeled home that comes with its very own treehouse & lakeside trampoline! Everything is complete to make this home shine including entry foyer with built-ins, hardwood floors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances & new fixtures throughout. This home lives LARGE with 2 living areas, 4 Bedrooms & 320 sq. foot of screened porch with patio below..there is even a loft for the kids to get away to by climbing the handmade 'skateboard' ladder! Outside will not disappoint with a newer dock, limestone landscaping, lakeside patio, fire pit, basketball goal, additional storage & TONS of parking for everyone to visit.

Outdoor living and logging dock time is what this property is all about. The boat dock is concrete with a 12'x32' boat slip and a 12'x12' pwc slip. Shaded area for seating and a swim platform with full sun all day. There is 16' of water at the end of the dock. Below the dock is littered with crappie beds and fish habitat that we have worked on for over 7 years. It's dialed in now, so if dock fishing is your thing, there is no better spot. Crappie, bass, catfish all live, troll, and scavenge our dock. The neighbor feeds the channel cat, sunfish, and carp from his deck.

If wetting a line isn't your thing there is still plenty of fun to be had. Swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, or just floating around. The water is calm and quiet for little swimmers. The hammock on the dock is inviting. With cove protection there is little wake or wind which makes boat docking a synch, yet the Main Channel can still be seen from the dock for checking boat traffic or just watching the cruisers and go fast boats buzz by.

The lakeside of the home offers the dock, seawall walkway, trampoline, tree house, and beautiful landscaping rocks. From the dock it will be easy to watch the kids both offshore and onshore.

The property is located on the Northshore at the 2 Mile Marker. This is the closest shoreline to the St. Louis area with easy access off Highway 54. Boating on the lower mile markers (1-6) close to the Bagnell Dam has become the new best kept secret due to the development of the Gravois Arm waterfront restaurants Coconuts, Jolly Rogers, Bumps, & Jerk Shack as well as H. Toads, Shady Gators, & Lazy Gators on the 7 MM. This has cut off boat traffic near the 6 MM and opened said lower mile markers up for great boating while remaining right in the middle of all the desirable amenities the area has to offer.

The immediate area offers great boating in Birdsong Hollow Cove, a great ski cove. Village Marina and The Boathouse offer dining and first class marina. The Boathouse has indoor and outdoor seating with a heated pool and is a popular spot for locals. The marina offers boat/pwc rental, towables rental, boat launch, gas dock, gear shop, etc. Check out the website link. The restaurant/marina is within walking distance by land or limp around the corner by lake.

Osage National is the closest golf course. Being an avid hacker Osage is my favorite track. I've been a member for several years and the course has never been in better shape thanks to excellent course management.

About Travis DeMott

We are a family of lake rats.

Travis DeMott purchased this house in 2007

Why Travis DeMott chose Eldon

The Midwest is where we want to be. So what better place to live than at the Lake of the Ozarks.

What makes this house unique

Being full timers with children we have fine tuned this property for lake living and family fun. Quite water. Great crappie fishing. Cove location with main channel view. Walking distance to one of the most popular lakeside restaurants/marinas, The Boathouse/Village Marina.

Map

The Lake of the Ozarks is a large reservoir created by impounding the Osage River in central Missouri. Extents of three smaller tributaries to the Osage, the Niangua River, Grand Glaize Creek and Gravois Creek, are included in the impoundment. The Lake has a surface area of 55,000 acres, over 1,150 miles of shoreline, and the main channel of the Osage Arm stretches 92 miles from end to end. The total drainage area is over 14,000 square miles. The lake was created by the construction of the 2,543 foot long Bagnell Dam by Union Electric Company of St. Louis. At the time of construction it was on e of the largest man, made lakes in the world and the largest in the United States.

Though built to provide hydroelectric power for customers of Union Electric, the lake quickly became a significant tourist destination for the midwest. There are over 70,000 homes existing along the lake, many of which are vacation homes. It has transformed into a major resort area. More than three million people visit the lake annually. The Lake of the Ozarks is unique in the fact that it is the largest man-made, non-flood control lake in the United States. The lake rarely varies in surface elevation by more than 5 feet, with normal pool elevation of 660 feet above mean sea level. Unlike many flood-control lakes constructed by the Corps of Engineers, most of the shoreline on the Lake of the Ozarks is privately owned, and the relatively stable surface elevation has created ideal conditions for private development within a few feet of the shoreline.

The primary job markets for Lake of the Ozarks areas are in the construction industry, food and beverage industry, as well as hotel/motel and water related recreational industries. During the seasonal summer months, the population swells due to seasonal residents and tourists. The demand for workers with skills in tourism-related and construction fields rises during this time. Retail sales fields, health and welfare jobs, office and clerical positions, building and construction starts, along with supporting industries. There are limited jobs in manufacturing. Peak hiring times in seasonal industries are from early spring through late fall, usually May through October.

Great fun for the whole family!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place for our family! The kids loved it! The trampoline was great for the kids. Swimming at the dock was alot of fun as well. You don't even need a boat to have a good time.

Great for families!

  • 4 of 5

We had a nice visit at this home. We felt the listing was a little misleading when listing beds in the home, which meant some creative sleeping arrangements for our family, which included two sets of grandparents.

PROS- great location on the lake, cute kid areas (but we had to clean out the treehouse before our kids would go in), easy to communicate with owner who is fair and flexible, two living spaces, nicely stocked kitchen, kayaks available.

CONS- not quite as clean as I would prefer, coffee maker did not work (said it needed to be cleaned, we did as outlined by the manual, and it still didn't work), unusable fan in loft bedroom due to large rattling sound (I list the last two because they have been mentioned in previous reviews and still a problem).

Overall, we made due with the space we had and made great memories for all involved. I would not choose this specific house again just due to room step up.

Comfortable and relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

The house is spacious and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. This property might not be the best choice for families with active toddlers or elderly. The stairs inside nor outside have railing, nor does the bridge leading to the tree house. This is depicted in the pictures, but we failed to consider these safety issues.

The Stuff Childhood Memories are Made Of

  • 5 of 5

We were three friend families that chose the DeMott house based on the fun extras for kids. The house is unlike anything else I've seen in the area! The kids, ages 1-7, lost their minds over everything. The house and the design of the outdoor space was pure genius. We were the only family on the cove this week I think and the swimming and kayaking was perfection. We never even went on any excursions, we stayed busy and happy with water balloons, basketball, s'mores, trampoline time, "scary" stories in the tree house, feeding the ducks, exploring the rocks, swimming, kayaking, laying on the hanging porch bed, and painting and hiding rocks (can you find any?!) We took turns making family style meals in the kitchen (though the kids were sustained on juice pouches alone I think) and the house felt just the right size for us. After the rugrats went to sleep the grown ups enjoyed talking and stargazing on the dock. We hope to make this a yearly tradition! A few things of note for the DeMott family: none of us were smart enough for the coffee pot 😉, the ceiling fan in the loft bedroom needs some maintenance (noisy rattling), and we had a hard time finding light switches for the dock or patios at night (I think the patio issue may be some burnt out bulbs). Overall the house was incredibly clean, comfortable and cozy and we loved the personalized touches. It's definitely not like any stuffy condo you've stayed in before. Thank you so much for sharing it with all the families who get to make memories there every year!

Perfect lake house for families with kids!

  • 5 of 5

This lake house was everything that was promised in the description. My grandkids had so much fun here! The house is beautiful, the screened in porch with the hanging bed is awesome and the trampoline and tree house were a big hit! The owners were great to work with. Our family is truely blessed to have found this.
