This really is a beautiful place to stay, the apartment is clean and comfortable, the private pool is well maintained and the grounds are amazing. Whilst there is not a great deal very nearby, Pompei and the Amalfi coast are short drives away. Ida made sure our stay was comfortable and answered questions very quickly. The showers are a little small but we did not find it a problem at all.We would recommend this to everyone.

Lovely oasis of calm. Great grounds beatifully kept. We stayed in late May and everything was in bloom. Fanastic pool and bbq area.It is an old house full of character. Owner lives on site and is friendly and helpful without being intrusive. A good base to visit Pompei etc and Pasteum and Trentinara to the south. Good for Solano to visit Amalfi coast by ferry. Entry to house grounds by electronic gate. Felt very secure.VRBO lists it as rural which is technically correct, but the house is in an area of agricultural land. However, once inside the grounds this is unimportant as the benefits of the house, garden and pool far outweigh this. We had a great holiday and would go again.

Amazing place to stay!! Rustic, beautiful and authentic. The pool is amazing. We used our car hire to go to Amalfi, Ercolano, Versuvius, Naples and Battipaglia town. The combination of the quiet of the villa and the buzz of the towns was perfect for use. Thanks Ida!

We stayed in the appartment on the 2nd floor. It has 3 double bedrooms 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. It is a little outdated, but everything is clean and works. The owner (senior lady) lives on the 1st floor but is almost not present so you experience it as if you have the grounds to yourself. The garden and pool are in excellent state. Very nice to be around and in.We enjoyed our stay very much.

Authentic Italian Villa in perfect location

This villa was perfect as a home base to the Amalfi Coast and Cilente. Very open and clean. Bathrooms are updated, grounds are beautiful with fruit trees and flowers. Wally was our daily greeter, adding to the charm. Ida was very responsive and helpful with her recommendations. Emilia, her mom was very nice and made a delicious apricot tart for us to enjoy during our stay!

We had a wonderful stay and would gladly recommend this property. The house was spacious, clean, comfortable, and we always felt safe. The highlight was the beautiful garden and amazing pool, which were perfect for cooling off after long days of sightseeing. We used the house as our base for exploring the Amalfi Coast. While the drive was a little longer than expected, we appreciated returning to a peaceful setting away from the crowds. Pompeii and other attractions were accessible with a rental car. There were several grocery stores nearby, making it easy to prepare meals at the house.Ida and her brother were wonderful hosts. We were welcomed with a charcuterie board of local specialties and a bottle of Prosecco, a thoughtful gift from Ida's mother, who lives on the property. When we had a Wi-Fi issue, Ida responded immediately and had a technician fix it. She also connected us with a boat tour that ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.A couple of minor drawbacks: the showers were quite small by U.S. standards, and there wasn't an indoor gathering space besides the kitchen. However, the weather was beautiful, so we enjoyed eating most of our meals outside in the gorgeous garden anyway.Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would happily return if we visit the area again. Thank you, Ida and family, for your warm hospitality!

Best month in Italy

Lovely property behind gate, which we were able to open with a remote. Once inside, gardens, paths, shaded terraces, and an immaculate pool create an oasis. The apartment is roomy; 7 of us had privacy and bathroom time without hassle. We cooked several excellent meals with all the cookware and utensils we needed. Ida and her mom, Emilia, were welcoming and warm. Shout-out to Manuel, who brought up groceries and was always there to help.

Awesome

Beautiful property of some stature with well cared for gardens and impeccably clean. They obviously love the property themselves and is reflected in its cleanliness and presentation. Great swimming pool and facilities around it. Even though it appears a bit isolated the supermarket within a ten minute walk has everything you could wish for. Also there is a coffee shop which was excellent and a lovely restaurant , which although in an obscure location was the provider of the best meals we had on the entire holiday. Would highly recommend it.

Fantastic family holiday

The apartment was absolutely fantastic for our family of 5 (three kids aged 8-12), open spacious rooms with air conditioning throughout, well equipped kitchen and two bathrooms. The private pool was really impressive, deep enough for a diving board and to keep the kids entertained for hours! Photos are a genuine representation of the property- it was gorgeous! The location is quite remote and therefore a car is essential, however the train station in the local town (5mins drive) takes you to Pompei, direct to Naples and to Salerno. You also have Paestum within 30 minutes drive which is well worth a visit and beaches a short drive away. We couldn't fault the property and the host was very friendly on arrival. As our first foreign holiday as a family this has certainly set the bar high!

A great Experience

We are 8 people, 4 children and 4 children aged 1-11, 2 children in this family. The welcome on site was particularly warm, and great food was served. The apartment was as described, very clean and tidy, nicely furnished with furniture and lots of Italian reading material. Air conditioning was available, bathrooms were clean. the yard was very large and green. the pool was very well maintained, clean and the children enjoyed it very much. and everyone dives into the trail of Wally's eyes. The pictures correspond exactly to what was found. The de Maio family is friendly and familiar, communication with the host Ida in English is good. Thank you for the great time and the family atmosphere. We would like to see more from you. Thank you Ida and family

A fantastic family holiday

If you want an Italian experience then this is the place. The beautiful period property was perfect for us, comfortable, well air conditioned, extremely spacious and very clean. The lovely family who own the property made us feel most welcome and helped us with information about the area and facilities. Especially listen out for the very talented piano playing.  We spent many relaxing hours around the pool and in the large garden, which was the best part of our week stay. We never got to visit the beach, which isn't far away, and never missed it due to our love of the pool. Car parking is ample and safe, the property has automatic security gates. Shopping was easy with a very handy supermarket in Battipaglia and, just off the round-a-bout there is a restaurant that is friendly with good food and is not expensive at all, the perfect combination for a Yorkshire family. The property is within easy reach of Salerno, the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii and a must see are the stunning temples at Paestum (especially at sunset). This has been a fantastic family holiday and we have all taken away great memories.

Me, my family and my friends we have very much enjoyed our staying at Villa del Majo. It is as beautiful as the photos are showing it, the pool is very clean, the garden is like a fairy tale garden, with many flowers and plants well catered. The owner and his family are discrete, and very welcoming, give us a lot of useful information about Paestum, Vezuvio, Capri Island, the beach etc. It is definitely a good address and I recommend it with no reserve.
