The accommodations were perfect. The bed was great and everything was private and cozy. The owner was very nice and accommodating. We liked the privacy and the feel of being in a residential area. The price was good!
It was affordable, clean, and right in the middle of everything. Michael and Gail were wonderful people. I will be back again next year.
We arrived at the premises during one of those cold, wet damp autumn days where everything feels dreary. Imagine our delight upon entering a cozy, well lit apartment that was warm and cheerful. The place is very neat, clean and charming. There's plenty of room and plenty of Windows if you are stuck inside due to weather and the apartment is well insulated. I worried about drafts due to all of the windows but the place was pleasantly warm. On the other end, the heating system worked well and we also did not suffer from stifling heat.
The bedroom is nice, plenty of room and storage (We brought tons of sailing gear). The kitchen is well stocked, neat and clean with nice appliances.
This place is within walking distance of everything. Thus, I highly recommend it for travelers to Marblehead.
The property was very clean and in a very good shape. You could find everything you need, enough towels, bedclothes, dishes.
It is much better to book this kind of apartment than to stay in a hotel You can use it with four members of a family.
The beach in that area is not so nice as we had thought before (therefore not 5 stars).
Transportation to Boston via subway is very quick and cheap from Wonderland Parking (14h for 5$).
I would recommend a car.
Stayed in Marblehead for 2 nights and enjoyed it overall. The apartment was nice, bright and clean and had all the amenities we required. The neighbourhood was quiet and within walking distance to the beach. The owner was very helpful with providing us information and responded to every query we had. On the downside, we were there on a warm day and the apartment was quite warm. The window A/C unit in the bedroom was quite loud and was not sufficient too cool down the rest of the apartment. The main bed was comfortable but the sofa bed not so much. Still, I would recommend staying there but if your are sensitive to noise ( I.e. loud air conditioning unit and fan) then bring some hear plugs and you will be fine.
To begin, we were looking for a north shore retreat for our mini honeymoon weekend. I messaged Michael and Gail early on, letting them know that their one bedroom suite attracted us, as a place where we as newlyweds could hideaway comfortably for the weekend. First impressions tell a lot and unfortunately, we were taken back by the sight of a dilapidated and seemingly abandoned neighbor's house, the late model construction truck in the driveway, and the overgrown dead flowers in the garden. Our visions of a romantic weekend were further dissolved when upon our entrance, the temperature in the apartment was 100 degrees... with the air-conditioner turned on all the way. Granted, it was perhaps the hottest day of the summer, but when we brought it to Michael's attention, his suggestion to place a fan in the window did little to cool the room down. The heat had actually killed a couple plants already and it didn't let up on us all weekend. A second air-conditioner would definitely have helped us enjoy our stay as the apartment was unbearably hot, leaving us to abandon it most of our time. Further, because the internet was down all weekend and the DVD player advertised didn't exist, we had to let go of our dream of lounging inside after months of hard work preparing for our wedding. On the bright side, Marblehead has a lot to offer newlyweds. Some highlights included brunch at 5 Corners (and $1 oysters after 5pm ~thanks, Michael!), kayaking in the harbor, and watching a lightning storm one evening on Devereux Beach. Unfortunately, we can't recommend this property after suffering through the heat and the poor customer support. As we departed, Michael's congratulations on our marriage seemed like an afterthought when very little was done to make our honeymoon weekend feel special and comfortable.
