Why Lisa Dow, Broker #RB-19383 - Owner chose Waikiki

We bought our first property here at Kaiolu Sunrise back in 2005 and personally lived here for 3 years. This is now my 3rd property here! I thought about what I would want if I were going on vacation and the first thing would be clean, comfortable & safe. Then I would want to be close to everything where I can step out of my room and walk to much of everything the area had to offer. Next, I would want my unit to have the decor and flare of the island in an upscale capacity without costing me my pocketbook.

Well, this unit and building has it ALL! So, for the third time I put my designer skills to work and here it latest design! I am so proud of it as it offers you a wonderful comfortable vacation accommodation with all the comforts of home yet with a hawaii'ana feel.

What makes this condo unique

This building is unique in many ways, first being that it is located on a tree lined street in Waikiki (hard to find). Also, it has only 11 floors and yet two elevators so you aren't sitting around waiting for long minutes to catch one.

Each floor has its own washer and dryer as well as trash chutes. The one great thing that is awesome are the large hallways each floor has. You don't feel like you are in a hotel or claustrophobic.

This unit is located on the cooler and quieter side of the building and also has a nice view of the city lights. You even get a peek a boo view of the Friday night Hilton Hawaiian fireworks!

Then there is our resident manager James...I can't rave enough about him....he is extremely helpful and friendly. Last but not least, our building is 75% owner occupied so you will love to meet some residents of Waikiki and perhaps talk story!

Excellent Location, Clean, Well Appointed, Comfy & Secure! We were so delighted & lucky to have found Lisa's lovely condo. Sitting just far away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki that allows a peaceful retreat and within a 10 min walk you are in the heart of beautiful Waikiki and all it's splendor! Everything about the unit was excellent in regards to layout and comfort. The bed was SUPER comfortable! Lisa is awesome for responding to inquiries. Do not hesitate to stay here, for the money you would be hard pressed to find a better deal out there. Thank-you Lisa, we hope to return! Warmest Aloha from Frank & Elaine.

Clean and nicely furnished condo.

We enjoyed our month in the condo. The owner provided good customer service. Building is well maintained and pool area is very enjoyable. Only complaint was in the condo next door, the person smoked. Not knowing if they smoked in their unit or on their lanai the smoke still drifted into our unit. Whenever we had the lanai door or windows open, the smoke came in.

Owner's Response: Thank you Norm & Gloria for your review. Unfortunately, we were not made aware of smoking issue. If so, we would have taken every step possible to address this as we strive to make the building and our unit as comfortable as possible. The rules of Kaiolu Sunrise is there is to be NO smoking on the lanai's. If they are smoking in their unit then they must close their lanai door. Also, we have just purchased the condo next door and it is a non-smoking unit. It will be on VRBO for vacation rental by the end of the month! Hopefully, you will give us another try on your next visit to Waikiki. Again, mahalo for your review. It is very much appreciated!

Love Staying At Kaiolu Sunrise

My husband and I stayed at Kaiolu Sunrise for two months and 'love' this building. It is in a perfect spot for enjoying all of Waikiki (right in the middle) you can turn left on Kuhio and go all the way down to the Zoo or you can turn right and go for a 15 minute walk to the Ala Moana Mall or go straight and enjoy Waikiki Beach. The building is small (which we like) with two elevators so there's never much time waiting for it. The pool is also small but perfect for cooling off while tanning on the deck. But what we liked most of all is the BBQ by the pool, each day we would go down and cook our lunch on it while tanning (killing two birds with one stone).

The condo had everything that we needed and the size was good. The only complaint we had was the air conditioner in the bedroom didn't keep the living room very cool on extremely hot days (the September month was one of their hottest on record). All in all we were very please with this place and will come back again.

Owner's Response: Aloha Janet! Thank you so much for your review. We are always striving to make our unit as comfortable as possible. As you noted, the AC didn't cool off the living room enough during our record high September heat. We are in hopes that we are past all of this crazy hot weather that we are not used to out here. However, that being said, we are going to install another ceiling fan in the kitchen which is open to the living room. That might be able to circulate the air a bit more. This building is not equipped to put another AC unit in the living room as we have wall to wall sliding doors that lead out to the lanai. Again, mahalo for your review and we hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future.

great stay!

I stayed here for 23 days with my husband and 2 kids (16 months and 4). We loved it: clean (and easy to keep clean), VERY conveniently located (even our toddler could walk to the beach), and yet on a quiet off-street. The parking space that comes with the condo was a very precious add-on (it's practically impossible to park in the area, and costly). The pool is very nice, never crowded. Lisa told me the building was kid-friendly, and it REALLY is! It was easy to baby-proof the appartment, by moving the fragile objects out of reach, closing doors, pulling chairs away the edge of the lanai, and making sure no big heavy toys were banged on the mirrors... But it was hard to keep the noise level down, and I kept apologizing profusely to our neighbors, who said they hadn't heard anything! We were advized to never leave crumbs anywhere, as we would be immediately invaded with cockroaches... Well, however hard you try (the kids ate exculsively on the lanai), there's always a crumb somewhere when children are involved, yet we never had the privilege of sharing the premises with those critters. Which gets me to the fact that the building is VERY well kept up: the manager and the fellow who does janatorial work seem to be on duty 24/7 making sure everything is spick and span (pool area, elevator, hallways, etc). The laundry facility accross the hall is VERY convenient (especially if you're doing a load or 2 a day, as we were!), and you never have to wait to use it. A few minor drawbacks: there are only 4 of each in terms of dishes, cups, bowls, etc, which means you have to run the dishwasher twice a day, if you are a party of 4. One set of sheets for the bed and one for the couch (Lisa immediately sent an extra pair when I voiced concern as to changing them, but actually you can just wash and dry and put back on). Be aware the AC in the bedroom will not cool the entire appartment, so the living room will be hot (just leave everything open and create a breeze). And the restaurants nearby are mostly pretty bad (overpriced boring tourist stuff). We preferred Derussy beach and Village Ward mall (quieter, less touristy). The bed is probably the comfiest we've ever slept in, and the couch is easy to pull out/ put back every day. Lisa added a portacrib for our toddler, which was very kind and helpful. A few useful add-ons (besides an extra plate/ cup/ bowl or 2) would be a grater (I cook a lot) and a rack to hang wet towels, bathing suits, etc on the lanai. The place to go!

Also, thank you for your suggestions and I want to let you know that we are now going to be stocking this unit with two sets of sheets for the king bed as well as the queen sleeper sofa. Also, we will be supplying a rack on the lanai for wet towels. In regards to more than 4 sets of dishes we used to accommodate more. Unfortunately, tenants were leaving dirty dishes in the sink and on the counter which only invited those unwanted pesky guests. Our solution was to keep the dishes to one set per person.
