About H.C. "Chris" Porter
I'm a native Mississippian and a professional artist. I started my studio in 1987 in Jackson and after 20 years moved to Vicksburg. I was drawn by the historic building and the river views! My artwork reflects my love of Mississippi and its rich cultural and blues heritage.
H.C. "Chris" Porter purchased this Condo in 2006
Why H.C. "Chris" Porter chose Vicksburg
My contemporary southern loft is above my signature art gallery in historic downtown Vicksburg on the main street, Washington St. Washington St. is also the Blues Highway, Highway 61,which runs from Memphis to New Orleans. I have found Vicksburg to be a welcoming, artsy, historic and charming town. I have found my home here, but I travel often and am able to share my loft/home while I am away.
What makes this Condo unique
I've been told Mississippi is the last mysterious state in the Union! Vicksburg is a wonderful place to explore Mississippi's unique and historic past. My loft is 3 minutes from the National Military Civil War Park, one block above our riverfront murals, three blocks from the Court House Museum and two blocks from our Mississippi River Museum. The award winning, local shopping, dining and sightseeing is all surrounding my loft. Newly opened, the only rooftop dining/bar in Mississippi is located across the street, 10 South, with it's tenth story view of the River and downtown Vicksburg (just in case my three story private roof terrace isn't enough!) I have created an artist's dream home and it is my pleasure to share it with you!

Great location and Great Eclectic Loft!
This was an excellent location and very eclectic loft with lots of room! The view from the rooftop was amazing and so relaxing! The loft was much bigger than we thought from the pictures. It was stocked with everything we needed. There was plenty of reading material and great TV with sound system also. The loft was very clean also! Would love to come back!
Vicksburg Artist Loft
Wonderful spot in Vicksburg to spend a few nights and enjoy the history and river. Staying at an art gallery is a unique and very special experience. We loved everything about it.
The loft is in a great location with restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance.
Perfect spot to enjoy Vicksburg
From the moment my family arrived, we enjoyed our stay! Mary welcomed us and was very thorough in providing details to the loft. Throughout the weekend, we continued to discover unique art pieces and furniture that added to the loft's beauty! The location was in walking distance of wonderful eateries, shops and tourist attractions! My husband, three teenage boys, and myself will recommend the Loft to everyone!
We love staying here. Everything close, and nice folks.
This was an amazing space to live in for a week!
We loved being surrounded by such amazing, stimulating art everywhere we looked! The loft was very clean, inviting and eclectic, well-stocked with all essentials. Our only disappointment was that the weather did not cooperate for us to enjoy the rooftop deck.
This historic property is in the heart of downtown Vicksburg with shopping, fine dining, wine bars, live theatre, art galleries, an art house movie theatre and museums all within a short blocks! Come spend a weekend exploring and rejuvenating in this warm and comfortable loft space! The National military park is only 2 miles away. The River Museum and the old court House Museum are just a few blocks away.
