I am sorry to say that there are several steps to enter the house. However, once you are inside the living areas including the bedrooms are located on the first floor. One of the bedrooms with a queen bed has a french door allowing easy access with a wheelchair. I can not tell you for sure if the bathroom is wheelchair accessible because I have never tried. But I do know that the bathtub/shower is not, requiring the person to be able to step over the tub edge. Unfortunately, we do not offer a shower chair....moreless

Year Purchased: 2003
About: We are a family of five who have been vacationing in the Moosehead Lake region for over 28 years. Our two older children have moved on their own to start their own lives. My oldest lives in upstate New York and my middle child lives in Southern California. Our youngest, who we lovingly call our retirement baby, is the reason why we bought this land and built this home. If you would ask him, he would say that the Sunset Hideaway is his home. Daddys home is in New York and mommy lives with daddy.
Why Rockwood, ME, USA:
Our friend, who now manages our home, sold us the 3 acres of land where the house is built. This purchase has grown to over 49 acres of land and over 700 feet of water frontage. Eventually we plan on building our retirement home at the other end of our land and moving there when our youngest finishes high school. It is our hope that our children will keep these homes for generations. We hope that someday our grand-childrens childrens children will enjoy swimming and playing around our home as much as their parents, parents, etc.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love this home because of the views, quietness, peace, and privacy. We love not seeing or hearing another living sole for days at a time. We love that we can jump in a car and in minutes be surrounded by friendly warm people at the resorts lounge. We love being surrounded by nature. We are continually in awe of the beauty that can be seen for miles right from our front door. We hope that you feel the same healing magic we experience every time we enter this home.
