I Am Retired And My Wife And I Play String Music, Garden And Enjoy Cooking And Traveling.

Why Dan Holman OR Joann Holman chose Center Hill Lake

We live on a farm handed down from my father and mother. It has streams, caves, birds, deer and many other types of wildlife.

We live at the end of the road surrounded by our land so it is very peaceful.

We are just 15 minutes from Cookeville where there are restaurants, theaters and big city services.

Come by and relax!

What makes this cabin unique

Walk in the woods alone. Watch a stream, observe the night sky, and the owls yeah the owls! You will hear some big old owls raisin cane in the night!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Loved it

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I needed a quiet, relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life and found peace at The White Mule. We loved the pergula and the garden and got to take home some tasty tomatoes, peppers, and basil. Our hosts were very nice and had the place thoughtfully decorated and stocked. Their dog, Rex, escorted us to the creek and to the cave. He definitely won't let you get lost. We visited with the horses and got to see the teepee going up. I will definitely be back to stay there and at Hawking's nest, a secluded cabin with no electricity or running water. Thank you so much for opening up your property to us and to so many others. We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back. Thank you.

It was a great place. Out of the way, very private and comfortable. I would highly recommend it.

Dog lovers paradise with magic around every corner.

  • 5 of 5

This trip could not have been better. My wife and I had a wonderful time from the moment we arrived. The dogs took us on a tour of the property then we fed the horses. After playing cards on the porch of the White Mule Lodge we were serenaded by the fire. Hiked Burgess Fall in the morning on our way out of town. The property is beautiful with hills and streams. Wildlife is everywhere you look. For all of its farm house charm it still had good Wifi. Would recommend to anyone who wants to get away and recharge.

2nd Stay

Our second stay was even better than the first. Dan and Joann have a beautiful property. For a short Tennessee get away, I can't recommend this spot enough! We will definitely stay again.

Perfect getaway for work or play

  • 5 of 5

Words can't express how much I enjoyed my stay at this property. I came her to do a very important work project and the setting was more than I hoped for. Not only was it quiet and inspiring with rolling meadows but there were horses and puppies that put it over the top! I even brought my 12 year old black lab and he enjoyed it as much as I did. The cabin itself was very clean. Dan and JoAnn are the perfect hosts and made me feel more than welcome. They were around if I needed anything at any time, but let me have the privacy I really needed to get my job done. Also while it is in a beautiful country setting, nice restaurants are only 30 minutes away. So whether you are looking for a place to relax or to work, I highly recommend this property.

A little slice of heaven on earth

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the newly built Red Mule Lodge and absolutely loved everything about it! When we arrived we were created by Dan and 3 beautiful English shepherds. Dan was so hospitable, showing us around the lodge. We had so many favorite parts from the stained glass, tin roof, hospitality, but our all time favorite was the large screened in porch. We sat out there for hours after we arrived in the evening, lit the candles that Joann has put there and listed to Gods great symphony of the great outdoors. To top it off lightening bugs were out, making the evening even better. Dan and Joann have a little slice of heaven on earth, I highly recommend staying with them!
