About Chris and Donna Hyche
A lifetime Alabama resident, I grew up enjoying the Alabama Gulf Coast and enjoy sharing this beautiful area with others. As a sales professional in the industrial marketplace, I spend a lot of time behind the wheel and have found few places like Bon Secour. Donna has worked as an educator for over 30 years and the peace and quiet of this area is a welcome reprieve to hours in the classroom.
Chris and Donna Hyche purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Chris and Donna Hyche chose Gulf Shores
Growing up vacationing on the Alabama Gulf Coast, we discovered this area in the 1960's. My family purchased a cabin in the Bon Secour area in 1985 and have come to treasure the peace and quiet this community affords. Whether its sitting on the pier and watching the dolphins and pelicans at play or walking down to Billy's Seafood for steamed shrimp fresh off of the boat, it is safe to say there is no other place quiet like the Cottages at Bon Secour. While we hope to one day retire to this area, we are now content to share our secret with those who also appreciate this unique riverfront lifestyle.
What makes this Cottage unique
The proximity of the Gulf Coast beaches and excellent seafood serve as additional benefits to the peace and quiet of this area. When you have had all of the sun, sand and people you can handle, our place provides the ideal setting to relax and unwind.

Very lovely place to stay
The cottage was lovely, well kept, and looked just like the pictures! We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back! Donna and Chris were very helpful and kind as well!
Quiet and Peaceful
HyTide is off the beaten path in what appears to be a fishing community. There are eight cottages in the area with HyTide being the farthest to the back. We brought our dogs on this trip and the field behind the cottage made it really convenient with them. The cabin, itself, is clean, cute, and comfortable. I love the beadboard throughout. But I think my favorite part was the dock across the street. The first morning my husband and I went out there, we could see dolphins swimming and pelicans diving into the waterway. Before we returned to the cottage, a dolphin swam right next to the dock. It was simply peaceful.
always love every time we stay here, clean, relaxing, everything and more. will return again and again. only problem is everyone has found out about this place and its hard to get a booking sometimes.
Had a great time fishing and meeting new friends thank you Chris and Donna.
Quiet and delightful. It just feels right to be between two serious local seafood markets. We recommend Nelson's Inshore Charters for some great fishing, or just fish from the pier in front of the cottage. This is the first rental that we are sure we will return to.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was everything we hoped for. Owner pride throughout. Very nice and clean. Very well equipped. We would definitely stay again. Thank you to your attention to detail.
Bon Secour is a very Southern gothic, picturesque place, with huge water oak trees covered in Spanish moss, great blue herons, brown pelicans, ever present bottle-nosed dolphin pods and the potent smell of salty gulf waters everywhere. The local commercial fishermen that make their living from the Gulf are no less salty but also friendly. Other than the relatively small, family owned, seafood processing plants, Bon Secour is primarily made up of many rural neighborhoods, most of which enjoy beautiful vistas of the Bon Secour River and Bon Secour Bay. Brown Pelicans are everywhere and locals often see alligators from time to time, plying the waters of the estuarial system from the head waters of the Bon Secour River to the bay. One can see baby bottle-nosed dolphins playing near the mouth of the river at any time. In Bon Secour one can catch bass, bream, fresh-water catfish, then travel a few miles down river, to the bay and catch all manner of salt water fish, shrimp, and oysters in the same day
