6 BR/4.5 BA, Luxury Waterfront Home on 3 Private Acres. Sleeps 16.
Kootenai Bay Lodge is a luxury retreat your family will want to return to year after year.
Picture a 6,700 square foot log home, situated on a private, wooded lot, with breathtaking views of Lake Pend Oreille and the surrounding mountains. Large Great Room, Family Room and Game Room, along with 6 bedrooms over 3 levels, allow for cherished time together — as well as quiet, rest-filled time apart. Ideal for families who long for an unhurried, peaceful, nature-filled vacation — where the timeless use of wood and stone connect the spirit to a simpler time. Family reunions, executive and spiritual retreats will also find a home here. Sleeps up to 16.
Influenced by the roots of it’s owners, Kootenai Bay Lodge combines Pacific Mountain Lodge with Adirondack Camp style. This well-crafted log home embodies strength, tranquility and peace. It’s that perfect balance of wood, stone and light. The sturdiness and endurance of 16” hand-hewn Tamarack logs, hand chinking, Alder laid floors, and a massive hand-stacked slate fireplace manifest the main living areas. Giant lakeside windows gateway panoramic views of 43 mile long Lake Pend Oreille. Watch Bald Eagles and Ospreys hunt daily, and marvel in the ever-changing water parade of local and migratory coots, ducks, geese, and loons.
Replace screen time with lake time. Each day here nourishes your senses and body. Start the day with a nature walk or comb the shoreline for a keepsake rock. Fish for rainbow trout or small mouth bass from the dock. Let the kids climb a tree and explore Kootenai Point. Bike the rural, yet friendly neighborhood. Swim. Play. Nap. Read. Build sandcastles with the grandchildren on the private beach. Then pay homage to a sunset that frames the end of memory-laden day while sitting around the fire pit.
In summer, bring or rent a boat and moor it safely on the NEW dock and boat lift! You’re in an ideal place for water sports. Water ski, inner tube, wake board or surf the bays right here: Rainbow, Oden, or Kootenai Bay. Explore Warren and Pearl Islands or read about the ancient history of Memaloose Island (a sacred, Indian burial site). Take the boat to dinner (and lunch). Or jump in a kayak (provided) and explore the shorelines at leisure.
When not outside, there’s plenty to enjoy inside. The large gourmet kitchen is completely appointed to help you create fabulous meals. Multiple decks provide a variety of areas to eat outside, as well as a quiet place to enjoy a good book.
Downstairs you’ll find a beautiful billiards table and game room, separated by a stone and glass fireplace. Just outside is the large hot tub! Movies, TV and Wii are available in the upstairs Family and Entertainment room. When “being connected” to the world is necessary, high speed WiFi is available in the home and a large built-in office is located upstairs for work needs.
Kootenai Bay Lodge celebrates the four seasons of Sandpoint. Schweitzer Mountain is an easy 15 mile drive away and the home is also close to the charming town of Sandpoint. Scenic drives and hiking trailheads are all within a few miles of this fabulous place.
Make your next memories here at Kootenai Bay Lodge.

Wonderful property and location. The property mamangement company is exceptionally helpful and friendly. Great stay.
Every thing was amazing.
Hello Emil. Thank you so much for staying at Kootenai Bay Lodge. It is a pretty spectacular place. Thank you for taking wonderful care of the home as well and we look forward to a return stay should you ever be in the Sandpoint area. Best regards, Kellee
Beautiful house and views
Great house! Will visit again!
A wonderful time with my family in a beautiful setting and amazing house
Everyone loved the location, the home, and the peaceful surroundings. The home is well built, and decorated with just the right touches to allow ample space to spread out. The upstairs fireplace and heated floors throughout much of the house made the 10 deg F outside temps irrelevant. Billiards and Jacuzzi were fun amenities, and of course Schweitzer mountain about 40 mins drive made it a perfect location for those of us who ski and snowboard.
The property management company was readily available to answer all my questions and we would definitely come back in the future.
Beautiful, well positioned and supplied property which we will rent again.
Perfectly set up for large extended families. We had 16, including teenagers, and all loved the property. We enjoyed the games that were in the house. And easily cooked several large meals in the well stocked kitchen.
So glad you and your family could come together and spend the Thanksgiving holiday here. This home is really remarkable (one of my all time favorites!) and thank you for being here and taking such lovely care of the home. We look forward to a return trip from you. Best regards, Kellee Daugherty
Haven't stayed at the property yet...
We have booked this property for 2018, and took a tour of it before we committed. Not sure why VRBO is asking for our review when we haven't had our vacation yet. However, based upon the tour of the property we are looking forward to staying there, it is a lovely place.
It's the best! Silly VRBO, but I bet they'll ask you for a review when you DO get here! :-)
Schweitzer Mountain Resort is amazing in the winter, as well as summer. David Thompson Wildlife Refuge (near Hope) is a gorgeous drive. Hiking, biking, fishing, boating -- a wide variety of outdoor activities right outside your front door. The home is surrounded by undeveloped and natural land, so lots to explore, hike, bike and discover. Very private and quiet.
A variety of bays are available right here: Rainbow Bay, Oden Bay, Kootenai Bay are all wonderful for boating, kayaking, fishing and water sports. Downtown Sandpoint is 7 miles away and an easy drive.
