The Starfish Cottage is the perfect place to relax for your next getaway. Located in the Pierpont neighborhood of Ventura which is just west of the 101 freeway between San Buenaventura State Park and The Marina. This ideal location offers the best of Ventura.
Bike trails will take you along ocean paths to Santa Barbara or east to Ojai. Restaurants are within walking distance from The Starfish. The Marina has the best bikini store along with well established eateries.
Head across the freeway to old downtown Ventura for a great shopping or dining experience. Check out the resell shops, wine bars, and just all the wonderful locally owned businesses.
The cottage kitchen has everything you need for cooking. Our large outdoor patio is comfortable and roomy. Our home is situated on the north side - or sunny side of the lanes- so you will get nice morning breezes and afternoon sun.
Step outside the front door for a less then a 2 minute walk to the beach. All Pierpont lanes end at the State Beach.
We have recently purchased a brand new king size bed for the master bedroom. The second bedroom has a set of super comfortable twin beds. A queen size aerobed is available for use as well. All linens are 400 count and we have lots of down comforters, throws and blankets.
An outdoor shower is available to wash sand off yourself and your suits before going inside. A small amount of sand can clog the pipes and drains.
The kitchen is completely stocked with dishes (indoor and out) for your needs. We have a toaster, crock pot, Vitamix, tea kettle, Mocca Master Coffee Pot, spices, condiments and anything in the fridge is free to use.
All beach items are stored in The Tuff Shed behind the east front gate. Bikes can be stored behind the locked gate. The Shed is full of beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and other beach items that you will not have to pack.

The Pierpont area has so much to offer at such a fabulous location. Biking, running, walking and just hanging at the beach seem too good to be true. You will find yourself wanting to come back year after year to this truly wonderful town.
We have a personal connection to the area as our grandkids attend Pierpont School and get to skateboard, scooter or bike to school every day. Having family living just up the street adds to our pleasure of owning in Pierpont.
We love opening our home to our guests so they can fall in love with the area just like we did. There is something magical about going out your front door and having sand under your feet in less than 2 minutes. Whether you are having coffee in the morning or wine while watching the sunset, your stress will just float away.

We feel so fortunate to have found one of the original cottages from the 1950's. The history of the area fascinated us. The Keys area which is adjacent to Pierpont used to be a small airport until the 60's. Pierpont was actually all dunes in the 50's just like the ones you will see at the beach. Developers decided to flatten the dunes and build the small cottages, but Mother Nature didn't like that idea. To this day the winds rebuild the dunes which you will get to experience for yourself exploring the area. Walk or bike to the pier and check out Surfer's Point, Seaside Park (where the State Fair is in August) and the Amtrak station.
Ventura's downtown area has restaurants, resale shops, wine bars, music and much more. There is a farmer's market downtown every Saturday and one at the mall on Wednesdays. The Ventura Mall has lots of shops including Macy's, Trader Joes, Bev Mo and much more. Over on the east side of the 101 off Telephone road is Barnes & Noble, Pier One, Kohl's and a strip of eateries. On the west side of the 101 is Target, BBB, Winco Grocery, local restaurants and a great wine bar. Just off Main close to downtown is Peet's Cafe for the best breakfast in Ventura. Our property is modeled after what we have personally enjoyed when we rent vacation homes. The thought "I wish we thought of that or we should do that" has been incorportated into our vacation home. We have taken all the personal touches others have put in place for our comfort and brought them into our home. We hope you find "The Starfish Cottage" so special you don't want to leave. The Starfish cottage was an absolutely great find. The cottage is darling. You will walk in and just feel so very comfortable. It is a very warm and welcoming home with all the amenities you could ask for. And the location is perfect for your beach holiday. It is maybe a 2 minute walk to a lovely beach.
And I can't say enough good things about the owner, Bunnie, and Khara. They were very attentive and so very helpful with our arrangements. This is a 5 Star stay. If you have the opportunity to stay at the cottage, do not pass it up. You will be very happy with your choice.
We absolutely loved our stay. The house was walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. The inside was clean, modern and open. And, the backyard was pleasant and inviting. You can tell the owners take great pride in their property.
The property is perfect! Beautiful back yard with a gas fire pit. Close to the beach. It provides linens and even beach towels, chairs and equipment. Very comfortable and well decorated and has everything you need. We loved our stay.
The owner had a binder that gave very important info on what, where and when! Everything needed was there....there were four of us...The grocery store was in the neighborhood and freeway access nearby. We wanted to stay just one more day.....
This is an absolutely perfect place to stay! My two daughters and I loved the house and the backyard. We had everything we could have wanted or needed and it was so comfortable and homey! We all wanted to live there! And we will be back!
We stayed for a week and had a great time. The house is only a short walk from the sand; stroll past 10 houses or so and you're on the beach and easily walkable to restaurants, an Albertson's supermarket, and a nice neighborhood coffeeshop. The house was perfect for our black lab too, with a fenced backyard she enjoyed while we enjoyed the firepit and comfy chairs.
We had no trouble with the dog on the beach, where we saw many, many other dogs despite the posted No Dogs Allowed signs. YMMV, but we loved it.

The Pierpont neighborhood is a great spot to just relax. Our rental is less than a 2 min walk to the sand. Once your toes are climbing the dune and selecting your perfect sun filled spot, relaxation will wash over you!
The Starfish Cottage is equipped with Comcast cable and internet, a house phone for local 805 calls, a Bose system, games, books, liquid bath soaps, hand soaps, toilet paper, paper towels and other amenities to make your stay totally carefree.
Our kitchen has everything you need to cook a gourmet dinner including a spice drawer. There is a Von's Market and an Organic Lassen's Market close by. Check out our House Book to see all the markets, local dining options and available outdoor activities. Before your arrival we would be happy to suggest or arrange any activities for you and your party.
Our home can accomodate up to 6 guests comfortably.
We have a Tuff Shed stocked with beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrellas, tables, umbrella, 2 boogie boards (the nice ones), beach games and beach blanket and rug. There is space to store bikes behind the locked gates.
Our pretty patio with fire pit and BBQ grill offer great starry nights to just hang outside day or night. Both are propane. We do not use wood burning firepits.

PLEASE NOTE: PER RENTAL AGREEMENT CANCELATIONS : Cancellations, in writing via USPS, FedEx or e-mail, more than 60 days prior to Check-in Date receive full refund of all monies paid. Cancellations thirty (30) days prior to sixty (60) days prior to Check-in Date forfeit deposit. Cancellations less than thirty (30) days prior to Check-in Date receive no refund of rent or tax, but we will return your security deposit and cleaning fee. In cases of death or illness rescheduling would be considered
