I am a professor emeritus from San Diego State University and now reside in Paris,
France part of the year. My husband is an architect and I am a writer with a
small publishing company. This apartment has been our La Jolla home since 1981.
This is our primary home. We rent when we are traveling.

Enjoy tranquility in this small eight unit building. Perfect for a couple who prefers fine dining, walks along the ocean, books, shopping and majestic ocean views from every room.
Serene and quiet. Yet accessible to a village with friendly people,
ice cream, Margaritas, fine wine and a variety of delicious foods.
My daughter and I had a super time at our rented apartment. The apartment was exactly as described online. We had wonderful views and sounds of the Pacific from the windows in the apartment. The apartment is attractive and has lovely paintings. I slept with open windows (on the 4th floor) every night. We could easily walk to the ocean and a number of restaurants. And I found that I could order groceries and have them delivered to the apartment.
Everyone was very helpful and the owner was very good about returning our refundable deposit.
La Jolla Cove and the apartment made for a delightful 2 week vacation. And the restorative sounds of the Pacific can't be beat. Thank you. EL
Beautiful ocean views, awesome location to walk to fabulous restaurants and bars. Would definitely stay here again. Would give 5 stars if the bed were more comfortable.
Stunning location just moments from shopping and restaurants. Easy stroll to watch the sunset across the street. Wonderful ocean breezes cool the rooms at night. Our favorite Gellato place is practically next door. There are many dining options within a five minute walk. The frontroom is a perfect place to end the day, catching the sunset while the sounds of the ocean fill the background. We also appreciated the cleanliness of the home and nice touches such as beach towels available for use. Onsite dryer was a great to dry beach towels at the end of each day.
The only thing I would mention as a word of caution is that the garage is small. Our midsize SUV barely fit with it tight (inches) from a car stored in the garage with barely enough room for me to get out of the car. Other than that it was just a delightful place. We will be coming back again.
Classic California, the smell of the salt air, sounds of seals and the waves. The hustle of the night life, great location. Wonderful property manager! Very accommodating.
The views from EVERY window are as spectacular as the pictures show. Not a review has missed this glaring truth and I didn't want to be the first. But beyond that, it was a delight to spend a week in such a beautiful condo with everything you could need at your fingertips. Both bathrooms were modern and well appointed and the kitchen was stocked with everything you'd need. Choosing Peet's Coffee for your guests was a welcome relief for a family "addicted" to Timmy's.
While we did have a rental car with us and we used it to venture out, you can quite easily find everything you'd need within walking distance. Of course the beach and the park are right out your door, but all types of cuisine are close by (we recommend The Spot just up the hill and Puesto Mexican Street Food around the corner; Sushi on the Rock was wonderful on our last night). Von's was a little further away, but we easily walked back with a few bags of groceries!
Many have discussed the AC situation, so I figure I should share my 2-cents. Our late June / early July visit saw day time temps in the high 70's perhaps cooling into the 60's at night. We saw no need for the AC, but did make use of the fans. Frankly, our home is air conditioned perfection, so I was very happy that vacation allowed us to experience the beautiful So Cal weather. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Additionally, Mary and Cathleen have not only ensured that everything you might need is at hand, but also provided fantastic detail with their instructions. As is usually the case, the two pages are better to read at the beginning of your stay than at the end!
Having a car opens you up to the whole city. We enjoyed a half day fishing with Seaforth, a game at Petco and a round of golf at Balboa (I know, Torrey Pines if you must, but Balboa was plenty for our game leaving a couple extra c-notes in our pockets!). The car made getting to Mission Bay easy and it has such a different vibe than La Jolla (Oscar's is a must). Our favorite beach was certainly near the pier at Scripps (a bit less crowded and seemed home to more locals and fewer tourists).
Of course you can choose to walk as far as you wish, but if you can handle 30 minutes each way, I'd recommend a "hike" through La Jolla and then up the hill to La Jolla Natural Park. The view makes the effort well worth the while!
We had a fantastic week here at this Condo and we look forward to returning. Thank you Mary and Cathleen!
The views from the condo are phenomenal from every room. It was wonderful to open up the windows and listen to sounds of the ocean, seagulls and sea lions. It only takes a few minutes to walk to the cove and see the sea lions. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. 5 minute drive to La Jolla Shores beach. Location is fantastic! The condo was clean and comfortable. It was great to have a full kitchen and parking spot. If you are a light sleeper (or not used to living in a city/busy town) you might have trouble sleeping with the windows open because of traffic passing by. We visited the end of July- there were a few nights where the temperature was mid 80's (and humidity was high) where we missed the AC, but it was doable with the fans that were provided. We would stay again. Thanks for the hospitality, Mary and Cathleen!
