Exellent location for staying in Napoli
Very good hosts. Always available and ready to help in any situation.
Just returned from a wonderful holiday in Bagnoli, which is a lovely suburb of Naples. It has great transport links so made our trips to Baiae, Pompeii and Herculaneum possible once we’d mastered the Metro and trains. There is a beach area, with a pool, but sea swimming is limited. Larger beaches are a tram ride down the coast at Baiae.
There are very few tourists here, but the locals are extremely friendly and willing to help, even though we speak no Italian.
The apartment is exactly as described and has everything you need. The main square with all amenities is on the doorstep.
If I could give Giuseppe more than 5 stars, I would. Nothing was too much trouble and he even offered to book a taxi for us to get back to the airport.
In summary, if you want a base from which to explore all the history of the gulf of Naples, this is great.
Thanks for all and for the care used to stay in our apartament. God bless you and your family.
The owner is a kind, caring and amazingly helpful man! The apartment is immaculate and very comfortable!
Thanks again Anne. Have a good life.
Great for families
Our family with 2 small kids (under 5) had a great time staying here! We were close to grocery stores, close to the water, close to authentic pizza, close to the metro lines. The apartment was quiet, clean, and had plenty of beds and space for our family. The only thing missing was a sofa or love seat to sit and rest after a full day of sightseeing.
Thanks for everything and also for the suggestion. God bless you.
Absolutely authentic Italy
This was a great way to become Italian. We appeared to be the only tourists in this part of town, which was a bit of a shock at first, but in the end made for a great place to stay. The area round the apartment was quite rough and the entrance was a bit rustic to say the least, but the apartment itself was great and quickly became home, spacious, secure and comfortable.. We bought fresh fish from the local fishmonger fruit and veg from the local veg shop and the main groceries from a little supermarket, all very nearby, Oh and a late night spitroast chicken and chips street vendor from around the corner is a must . The Apartment was served by two close by Metro Lines and if you hire a car, there is easy access to the motorway system. Frome here the toll to Amalfi was 3.10 euros. and the same for Sorrento. There is a great train service to Pompeii and Herculaneum. There is a bit of a warning. If you are used to Rome then Naples is not Rome. Naples is a much noisier city, much more messy, and has a totally chaotic road system that actually seems to work but we have no idea how. The main principle is that you are not allowed to run anyone over but everything else is ok. The trains plough through the living areas, dustbin carts are emptying noisy bins late at night and every building seems to have its own church bells and there is Graffiti every where Oh and don't forget the car horns seem compulsory. On the plus side the Landlord, Giuseppe and his family were fabulous and very good communicators. They gave us loads of help as to how to find things in the area and help with settling in. Also whilst Naples has obviously seen better days, everyone we met were very friendly indeed and very helpful. Not knowing Italian was not an issue at all. We did find some dark alley ways and streets we wouldn't normally walk down , but didn't once feel threatened. So if you aren't a 5 star kind of person and you want to try the authentic Italian lifestyle this would be a great place to start.
Bright and calm oasis in the chaos and color of Naples. 4 1/2 stars
Giuseppe was a responsive and thoughtful host who was helpful on arrival and always available for advice or recommendations. The flat is bright, with two true double bedrooms and one single, two good bathrooms with lots of water pressure and hot water, and has small balconies opening up to sunny gardens with birds singing, along with views of the streetscape. The apartment is in a classic townhouse with some nice wooden floors and marble stairs with a lovely staircase. There are about 20 stairs up to the first floor, so it is not for those who cannot manage stairs at all. The suburban neighborhood is vibrant, full of small shops and cafes (which we enjoyed), bakeries and cheese shops, and has both a metro service and a suburban train service into central Naples (right to the National Museum of Archaeology, for example in about 30 minutes) as well as out into Pozzuoli (which has a lovely seafront area around the ferry docks as well as the famous amphitheater). The neighborhood feels safe and family-friendly, and while busy is very pedestrian-friendly, although there is a lot of traffic at peak times and the church bells ring throughout the day. We enjoyed our time very much.
