About owner/property manager

Mary is a retired business woman from Washington. She has travelled to several countries and when deciding on a place to retire visited Ajijic and like many others fell in love with the warmer, more colorful, and slower pace of life here. She has remodeled the house to include a main house and three casitas which she enjoys sharing with people from around the world.

Lovely Casita with Views near Lake and Village
average rating of 5.0 based on 10 reviews

Excellent location, very picturesque garden and Casitas

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully decorated Casita with modern amenities such as purified water throughout and upgraded plumbing and excellent wifi reception. We enjoyed the views from the Mirador and convenient location with short walks into town, grocery store, busses, weekly farmers market and restaurants. Mary went out of her way to ensure that all of our needs were met and was a lovely hostess along with co-host Charlie. We will definitely be back!

Sublime on so many levels...

This is a special place, and Mary, the owner, is a special person. We had a lovely, three week stay. (We're now making return reservations for the fall.) The place is quiet, the area is quiet (location near the end of a dead end street). The lakefront is about 100 feet away and from there it's an easy, lovely walk to the nearby beachfront restaurant. Mary is an insider's insider and is happy to share her tips, and her warmth, should you be interested.

A wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

This casita is spacious and beautifully decorated. It has everything you need. The location is convenient to town and the lake, yet very quiet. The grounds are so lovely and inviting you could just sit outside and enjoy the surroundings.

The owner is extremely helpful and goes out of the way to make sure your stay is perfect.

I wish I could have stayed longer!

Words cannot accurately address how pleasant my vacation to Lake Chapala was, beginning with the very lovely furnished Casita that I rented. The outside was landscaped with a large, neatly trimmed lawn which was filled with avocado and lemon trees and beautiful flowers. Inside my rental unit the walls and furnishings were completed in softly pleasant Mexican colors and decor. The property owner, Mary, was kind, pleasant, helpful. She drove me into the little village of Ajijic upon my arrival so that I could purchase grocery items for my stay, and then to a local bank so that I could convert dollars to pesos.

I loved my rental and I fell in love with the little village that was beautifully surrounded by the Sierra Madre mountains. The climate was just perfect, the skies were an unbelievable shade of blue (I'd never experienced a more beautiful sky), the people, Canadians, North Americans, and especially the Mexican folk of the village were so very friendly . I'll be returning next year for a much longer stay.

All in all I could not recommend highly enough Mary and my very lovely Lake Chapala rental.See for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful spot and close to everything

  • 5 of 5

Mary is a great host and shares lots of information. We were there to consider moving and ended up buying a house! Her place is in the heart of the village close to the Wednesday market and the plaza and the Malecon. My husband had to stay two extra days for the inspection of our new home and she let him stay and deducted it from the deposit. And she got us in contact with a very reliable taxi to the airport twice since we had to go home on different days.

The garden is beautiful and tranquil. We did a lot of walking and going out with our realtor so a few days were spent just relaxing on the patio. Highly recommend!!!

Beautiful Hacienda / so comfortable and convenient.

We stayed for a month and enjoyed it immensely. Mary is a perfect Innkeeper. She is onsite and available for questions and directions. She worked hard to make our visit so enjoyable. We loved the casita -- big rooms, high ceilings comforable bed, well chosen artwork and well equipped kitchen and bath. We did not rent a car and were able to walk to the Plaza, grocery, pharmacy and restaurants. Can't wait to return.

Ajijic has it all: Galleries, restaurants, cafes, lake and mountains. Stroll the treelined cobblestoned streets. Visit the open market on Wednesdays and get a real flavor of Mexico from foods to traditional crafts. Relax after walking the length of Ajijic's malacon ( boardwalk) where you will see flocks of pelicans, herons and cranes. It is just a 10 minute walk to the Lake Chapala Society which offers a wealth of information about the area and its activities. There is a reason why this area is so popular with visitors from around the world. Yes, National Geographic gave it the distinction of the second best climate in the world, but there is so much more.
