Fantastic day and lighted night fishing at this unique bay front home. Bayview Retreat sits on two large gated and fenced lots. It faces Galveston Bay and is bordered on both sides by canals giving it water frontage on three sides-it feels like your private peninsula. There is a shaded deck that wraps around the entire house so you can always find a breeze. (Note: deck railing is 36" high). Out on the deck above the boat house there is a built-in bench and plenty of furniture for lounging and enjoying magnificent unobstructed sunsets.
Not everyone in your group a fisherman? Bring a volleyball or a badminton net to use in the large yard or just relax in the hammock that can be hung by the boat house.
Inside this home, the 1842sqft upstairs has a spacious open floor plan where the living, dining, and kitchen areas all enjoy fantastic west bay views and hosts a total of 6 TV's throughout the home. This home also features high speed wireless internet.
The living area features a cathedral ceiling with floor to ceiling windows. The décor is casual, comfortable and bright - perfect for relaxing. Downstairs, which is completely new after Ike, are two bedrooms (one King and one Queen bed) with wonderful views and a full bathroom. There is also a covered patio facing the bay. On the main level are two more King bedrooms with attached bathrooms. There is new third bathroom and two Queen sleeper sofas.
The beach is a short drive but you may not want to leave this outstanding bay home. Bring your boat and launch it right there in Bay Harbor! This home comes with access to the community boat launch.
Bayview Retreat is pet-friendly so your pet can enjoy the large yard, too. (Additional $100 pet fee required and applies per pet.)
This property rents by the week only from Monday to Monday in the Summer months.

March 2018 Stay
Overall great place to stay. It was plenty big for our family to spread out. A suggestion for future renters is to note that the water around the house is very shallow. Our big boat wasn’t able to get in and out of the marina. If you plan to bring a boat make sure it can navigate shallows. We ended up wade fishing since we had our gear and it was great! We caught our limit of redfish every day we fished.
Beyond Our Expectations!!!!!
Wow...this house met all of our needs. We were 3 couples (neighbors) that have never vacationed together. My husband and I arrived first and were elated with the layout. Sometimes the write up is somewhat different than what you end up with....we've done this before....not this house. The layout is perfect for 2 or 3 families (depending on the size). We had plenty of room, loved the wide open kitchen, and the guys (and 1 girl :o)) loved the fishing under the lights late at night and the covered deck during the day....nice breeze, no sun! We booked through Gary Greene Vacation Rentals and they are OUTSTANDING! From day one (July) it was continual, personal contact....I Love That! Perfect location if you are wanting quiet, private, large fenced yard, fishing, yet close enough to go to The Strand and other adventures! We are all saying that we would come here again....maybe next fall! :o)
LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2015
Everyone in our group would ablsolutely love to come back again next year. Although we found no reviews on this property till we downloaded the Gary Greene App. I feel that this review will be on the property webpage. Smoke alarm went off twice during the first night. Scared the Bageebies out of everbody. Management sent someone over very quickly and found ants nesting inside one smoke alarm in a bedroom. Very responsive. House smells of mold and mildew excessively. But you get use to it. Some smell of septic problems when hard rains have caused system to back up into the house on previous occassions, not on us. We abosolutely feel like this was the best rental LOCATION on the island. Fishing on three sides of the property. Upper and lower decks. Plenty of room inside for grandkids to put small tents and sleep in the gigantic living room area. Mosquitos will carry you away if there is not a breeze. We had breezes most of the time. Fishing lights were great. However, fishing was terrible, and agreed with some neigbors. They could not figure out the poor tidal conditions either that ruined fishing. But we still fished till 2AM every night, while loosing our baits to crabs. Attractions: Only went to the beach twice. We were confortable at the house with good conversation. Ants are a big problem inside and out. We had one child allergic to ants and this cause a lot of anxiety. Just be alert. Grass cutters showed up on Labor Day morning, and we had to really hustle everything out of the grass after getting all our equipment and boats washed and drying. That teed me off, but I would not let that ruin the day for us. A little for-thought to ask lawn care guys to not show up on Holiday would be nice. Still enjoyed the property and will rent again. Hope this helps people researching properties to rent. We will be back. Just better prepared and informed.
July 2015 Stay
Ben, your home was perfect for what we like to do. I have fished west bay since the early 80's and come back every year to fish. we will definitely rent Bayview again.
April 2015 Stay
My family spent a magical weekend at the Bayview Retreat! Stepping into this house is like stepping into another world – one where time does not exist and the beauty and purity of nature surround you! I guess one could use the word "serene" to describe the "vibe" of the house. From a practical standpoint, the layout of the house allows for common areas and places where you can go for some solitude. The kitchen is very well-equipped and there is plenty of counter space (kind of a pet peeve of mine). The wet bar was much appreciated! The birds on Bird Island provide ongoing entertainment pretty much 24/7. The views are amazing – even when it is raining! We sat out on the deck and watched a lightning storm way out over the water. The sunsets are breathtaking and there is nearly always a breeze, which keeps the mosquitoes at bay. And the birds are friendly! The seagulls will come right up on the deck and even peck at
